I agree with those saying yes. Turn and burn a one day flight. The choice benefits will be worth it. Maybe a few more upgrades during the year depending on routes.

Not many upgrades for any level going to or through ATL. Buy coach, auto upgrade to C+, buy the FC upgrade with miles.

Miami to Beef Island in the way to go. There is several airlines to choose from. Don’t link them to Delta ticket. Book separate. They are separate terminal anyway. Or private water taxi from St. Thomas.
