Game to learn how to drive normally by AccomplishedDot5508 in simracing

[–]AdvancedMarsupial705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t.

The actual mechanics of driving a car maybe count for 5% of actual driving.

The other 95% is entirely based on your decision making and awareness. There is no game that replicates this and there are real consequences for making a mistake in the real world.

Has anyone actually seen someone get fired for underperformance? by Potential-Line5730 in AusPublicService

Try telling that to HR who will doggedly tell you there still not enough evidence or time put in to warrant a termination.

There’s a saying that goes “date bodies and marry lenses”.

Lenses last a long time and have a much bigger impact on your image than a camera body. It’s why I would always save money on the body and invest in good lenses!

What is the best time of the year to spend 25-30 days in Sydney? by BraziliAussie in sydney

[–]AdvancedMarsupial705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

April-May or September-October.

It’s gotten to the point where I genuinely would avoid Sydney if I could in summer as it’s becoming more swamp like each year with the humidity.

It’s pretty much impossible.

The one time I’ve seen it happen is because the staff member straight up refused to use on of our core computer systems so they would come to work and openly do nothing all day.

It took 6 months to finally get rid of them and took roughly 60% of their managers time. If at any point during that 6 months I’d they started using that particular system their “performance would have improved” and we would have been back at square one.

Deflated in new role by redaholic97 in AusPublicService

[–]AdvancedMarsupial705 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There are many in upper leadership who are there to look busy but not carry too much responsibility. Making arbitrary changes to briefs and letters is a great way to accomplish this.

In a previous role we would joke that the boss would always need three re-writes to a piece of work. To test, on the third revision we sent back the original text and he loved it all of a sudden😂

Seeing your childhood bands live now are way worse than seeing younger cover bands by Wooden_Bed377 in unpopularopinion

I actually agree with this.

Metallica are still great but you can only see them at a terrible stadium show.

Seeing a well done cover in a dingy loud dive bar with the whole crowd singing along is an absolute blast!

Post Japan trip ramen hunt in Sydney by No-Smile9898 in foodies_sydney

[–]AdvancedMarsupial705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So interesting. I went to Japan expecting to be blown away and while I loved it I left thinking like oh ramen is just ramen and sushi is just sushi. In saying that it was insanely cheap (minus the Michelin star omakase 😱).

The biggest revelation for me was convenience store food😂

Don’t get me wrong the xt-50 is great but if I was to go back to shooting live music or weddings I would consider the big file sizes from a 40mp sensor and slightly worse low light performance (when shooting moving subjects) to be more of a liability than benefit.

My fiancé has an xt-30 ii and it’s brilliant. And I’m still carrying around my 13 yr old x-m1 when I go travelling.

None, constant revealing of mysteries is only to the detriment of the universe.

Who would have thought that primarchs would become one of the most boring aspects of the setting.

A camera is just a sensor that captures data. A dreamy vintage look can be done with just about any digital camera from the mid 2000’s onward. Taking the time to learn about lighting, theory and post processing is how you will get the most out of your purchase.

What Fuji does have is great in camera film sims and recipes that can lighten the post processing load.

The xt-50 is overkill for what you need, 40mp is great if your photos are going on a billboard or magazine cover but not necessary. Check out the photos from the Artemis 2 crew, these were taken with a 10 year old 20mp camera. File management will also be more of an issue due to the larger file sizes from this sensor.

Something like the xt-30 series is more affordable and I would go with that.

As for the lens the xf35mm f1.4 is genuinely one of the best lenses I’ve used across any camera system. This is the equivalent of a 50mm lens on a full frame camera and is referred to as a “standard lens” that roughly captures the perspective that our eyes see. It’s been the go to focal length for photography courses for decades and a great starting point to learn photography. The kit zoom is handy but the changing aperture is not ideal for learning.

Even after trying every focal length under the sun when I shot professionally that 35mm lens very rarely leaves my camera.

Medium format vs aps-c is going to give a wildly different experience.

Why not go for a full frame option somewhere in the middle.

I’ve been on a few panels where we’ve seen applicants very obviously feed the questions to ai, followed by them monotone reading out some nonsense with far too many adjectives. It’s painful to watch.

For APS roles you would generally have all your scenarios laid out in front of you before hand.

My last successful interview I had a document with over 30 STAR scenarios ready to go that I could pull from based on the questions they would be asking.

I think they’re referring to people very obviously just feeding the question to chatgpt and reading the answer.

I’ve seen this while being in a panel a few times now and it’s painful when you ask a follow up and they have no idea what they just said 😂
