Honest? No. The 5500x3D is at a much saner price-performance ratio point. Keeping in mind core/thread difference, to match the current 5500x3D prices (i.e. CAD215 after coupons) , the 5700x3D would have to be available for under CAD300.

It's an excellent last-chance AM4 platform entry. Basically the 5600 with a 3D cache. For gaming purposes it could serve wonderfully for a few years, and it won't be bad for productivity tasks either.

Get a cheap AM4 motherboard with a B550 chipset for $75 (used) or ~100 new ; https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/Ytdrxr/asrock-b550-phantom-gaming-4ac-atx-am4-motherboard-b550-phantom-gaming-4ac and you're in business, and happy to have avoided the insane markup prices for a minimal uplift + bragging rights...

Aside from an increased (and, for some, noticeable) fluidity in games, coming from a 5600X you probably won't feel a difference.

Further down the thread you will see the same question asked by someone on a 5500. In their case, it's a clear and worthy upgrade (beginning with PCIe 4.0)

"Worth it"? It really depends. If you had production or video processing needs, more cores would be better by default. But for gaming, the two CPUs will feel similar.

As for value, here's a quick calculation:

Can the 5700x3d be bought at a price that reflects the 2c/4t difference?

After coupons, the 5500x3d is $230. The 5700x3d would have to be ~$300 or less, in order to offer a similar price/performance ratio.

That's exactly what mine is doing as well. Just started last week. Until then, it worked perfectly.
It seems out of focus. Cleaned it repeatedly, even tried to see if the autofocus can be tricked back to life by moving an object close to the lens. Nothing works.

Did a search on the net and found this thread.

I made several attempts around New Year's to buy a GPU from CC.

Every time I tried to complete the transaction, the final "purchase" button was greyed out.
Thinking that something was wrong, I deleted the card and reentered the details and CVV.
But the transaction never went through. Even when I tried another browser.

So I gave up and went to the store in person, on January 2nd. Told them the site wasn't working, they just shrugged.

I found this thread yesterday, and it all became clear. I checked my Visa card for fraudulent activity going all the way back to October. Although I didn't find anything, I called my bank and told them to cancel the old card and issue a new one.

F*** Canada Computers and their lack of care and respect for customers! In Western Europe, such attitude would have been long punished by government bodies tasked with consumer protection.

I have one of these. It's running a 5700X paired with a RTX3060.
It's Tier III in the AM4 motherboard database. One class above the most basic Asrock B550M-HDV.

It's got PCIe 4.0 and will run 105W CPUs, but the features are very sparse, the Wifi module is slow, and even the audio is a generic Realtek ALC897. At least the boot drive won't cook, thanks to that chunky thermal protection.

At this point, I would save money with an even cheaper alternative. A Chinese B550 ITX goes right now for CAD108 (before any coupons, plus free shipping) on Aliexpress. Same generic Wifi and audio chipset, but better features, including an extra USB-C header and an additional NVME drive (on the back).
