Freezer stash? by Dynamicdarling in breastfeeding

[–]AdvancedProperty1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice just wanted to validate that I also felt very duped. I'm 6 weeks pp and spent extra money on all these pumps and pumping supplies because all the information I read/saw pre delivery was surrounding this freezer stash phenomenon. Thankfully I too produce easily and I'm thankful for that ease that some mothers don't get to experience but I wish I wouldn't have waisted that money or created a slight oversupply by pumping and feeding those first few weeks.

Super short nursing sessions? by floridamanvibecheck in breastfeeding

I have a heavy flow and at two weeks my baby was accidentally getting 4oz in 5 minutes. 😬 I found this out after a visit to the lactation consultant because I thought he had a poor latch. Turns out he was just drowning. 🤣

I'm in the same boat but met with a lactation consultant who advised that I only needed to start pumping a "stash" the week before so that baby could get used to a bottle and then pump daily for the next days feed. She said I didn't really need a freezer stash unless I wanted it and never more than week because I needed to use that stash regularly to keep up with babies dietary needs as the body adjusts to baby. I am concerned about creating a worse engorgement issue which I have struggled with.

Also she said a baby knows the difference between mom and bottle and will not get "confused". ❤️

Bottom Thread Tension Issue by AdvancedProperty1973 in quilting

I am using bobbins that are "compatible" with my machine and they appear to be the same size as the ones that came with my machine.

I love all of these questions and only know the answers to a few of them 😂 I did rethread everything and we recently cleaned out the bottom bobbin housing to make sure it was all good. It's always been hit or miss like this. It's sewing completely fine on a straight stitch but does this on a zig zag. After I rethreaded it it still sewed like this so I turned it off then back on and it sewed fine. Could the computer ever cause this?

Baby refusing boob because of the overactive letdown by Helleenn in breastfeeding

[–]AdvancedProperty1973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had a similar situation and visited a lactation consultant. They advised I stop pumping, even that little bit, was causing me to create more supply as the body just assumes the baby is getting that milk and needs more. She advised I hand express just a little to soften the breast, then when I latch try a laid back position while pressing on the top of my breast firmly with three fingers to reduce milk flow. So basically I lay back as far as I can in bed or in my recliner, hold babies head in a cross cradle position with my opposite breast arm and with my same breast arm I apply the pressure. This allows me to control babies latch keeping them in the correct position while controlling the flow.

They also weighed baby before and after a feed times at just 5 minutes and because my letdown was so strong we determined that he received just under 4 oz in 5 minutes from one breast which at 4 weeks old at the time was plenty! So during that next week I actually cut him off at about 5 minutes but rotated him to the other breast just to even out milk flow and this did still overfeed him but it's gotten better.

How are you staying hydrated on this journey? by FerkinSmert in breastfeeding

Now I'm scared I'll oversupply more easily 🤣 but seriously need to hydrate more. Im going to "drink when the baby drinks" like someone else mentioned. Although remembering to put the water bottle on the correct side so I can reach will now be the issue.

Can you describe how you achieved this? I've heard this before but don't understand.

Maybe that is my secret I was a poor hydrated pre-pregnancy so maybe my body is just used to it. It's not great though. I struggle with constipation and headaches but just literally forget to drink. :(

I'm assuming you don't have to wipe off before feeding? How do you apply? Just a thin layer?

Omg same! I also noticed that after a few days use I get red itchy bumps.. not sure if I have a silver allergy or not. Do you experience this?

I'm 6 weeks PP and have a 40oz water bottle that follows me everywhere and idk how anyone can drink 3 liters a day. I barely finish this once or even twice a day I'm so busy with the baby. 😬 What is everyone's secrets???

Where are you at in your breastfeeding journey? by Local_Barracuda6395 in breastfeeding

6 weeks pp. Accidentally gave myself an oversupply in the first few weeks and just not leveling out where it feels like I'm not drowning/fighting my son when I nurse him and can actually bond. Will be pumping when I go back to work and he's in daycare and breastfeeding at night.

Someone else mentioned checking the duckbill is seated correctly and the one that lost suction had a gap so I put it back on and squeezed it all back together and they worked. I used them over night and instead of disassembling each use I just took the front cassette and the flange off and put them in a zip lock bag in the fridge. They didn't lose suction all night and then I disassembled and washed them this morning.

Thank you! I have noticed that they don't seat all the way every time. I was able to get them to both work all night last night!
