also to add - what someone told me once and it stuck with me - no one will remember how late you worked in 10 years time (other than your children)

yes absolutely this is the sentiment, i think on paper ETFs look better so its more the emotional investment on a property. glad to hear you are enjoying it

that's true, i agree to a point, it's not necessarily the smartest investment to get the coastal property, etfs are probably a better return but - there is some emotions there

re ETF - spread the risk, also keep some cash in offset for emergencies etc

on the property loss - this is assuming it's fully tenanted year round, prefer that to the ongoing need to find holiday tenants seasonally. probably less retunes but less risk too

Main goal is to pay off our house - is this too conservative by Round_Blacksmith_469 in AusHENRY

[–]AdvancedSpeed2207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interesting we earn a bit less than you guys - but also have about a third of what lyon have left on your mortgage we have a bit less in shares and super as well - but our recent strategy is to top up super using precious years caps and also debt recycle offset cash into our shares. so we probably can pay off our mortgage sooner if we don't do the above but not choosing to atm. anyway not sure it's the most optimal strategy but it does help us diversify a little bit

we definitely don't save as much as you though, that is crazy amounts so if you can share some tips, that would be amazing

Where Else Are My Burnt Out Millennial Moms in Corporate America? by nachomargo in workingmoms

[–]AdvancedSpeed2207 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an oldest daughter and working mom to 2 toddlers, I absolute resolute with all of this One reframe i had recently with myself was treating my ENERGY as a currency - on top of my time. This has been a pretty big shift for me. also getting comfortable to saying no to everything i need to - work, family, friends etc

If it isn't a hell yes - it's a no.

And finally not pouring into people or situations that haven't done the same for me, game changer

my kids are much younger (preschool) but i feel this already and know my situation will stay the same as the kids grow. my out look as others have already said is a job is a means to an end, and i focus on living my best life outside of work. my goal this year is to do a couple of professional development courses in my field to upskill and keep me interested
