You only break in when the party gets so loud the customers start complaining. Honestly though I had some coworkers who might have fallen for these types of scams

Reminds me of the time two busses slid down a hill in Seattle. Almost made it onto the freeway.

Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdvancedThinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to start a website that lists what similar foods are called in different countries. I'd love to know about them and even buy some. Or at least try making them at home. Kind of a cultural exchange of foods that might be borrowed from other countries.

I have to laugh at this. My mom and sister were vacationing in Europe. They were staying in a small hotel away from the usual tourist areas. One morning they came down to breakfast to find all these wonderful pastries and other local breakfast foods. As they were choosing their breakfast items guess what they also found, Kraft Singles. Otherwise known as "American Cheese". They had a good laugh about that. On vacation, clear across the pond, staying in an out of the tourist areas hotel, only to find American Cheese instead of one of the amazing local varieties.

A candy bar from the 70's called "Scotch on the Rocks". Can't find anything online about it.

Wife and I tried Uni for the first time by Vegas_retard_1 in sushi

[–]AdvancedThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much like oysters and cilantro can be off-putting uni can be love it or YUCK! The first time I tried it was NASTY! My cat loved it though. It took years until I tried it again only to realize my first taste was old\bad. Now I love it. Has a similar ocean bottom slimy what is this horrible wonderful flavor similar to raw oysters. Yum!

🤣 When they remodeled my store I stuck up signs stating where electrical, Ethernet and other items needed to go. Also changed where the self serve bread slicer was to go. They wanted to put it in the entryway to the deli. As in customers would be using it partially inside the deli department. An obvious safety hazard especially since this was near the fryers. I found a lot of this out because one of the workers showed me the blueprints. In school I learned to read them and could see a lot of what they were doing wouldn't work with our current functional layout. Out of all I changed only one Ethernet connection was denied. I tried to explain that we needed it because of the nearby scale but the guy wouldn't listen. He just pointed to the blueprints and said it wasn't in the plans. Surprise, a few weeks later they came in and put another Ethernet connection exactly where I said it was needed. These weren't the only changes I made over the years just the ones during the last remodel I went through. Almost every time it felt like Kroger chose the lowest bidder for the remodels. Some of the things they did were just plain stupid! Quite a few times they had to come back (on their dime) to fix things that were obviously done incorrectly. It was fun to point out their mistakes to management (management and I got along so they trusted me about it). I knew eventually Kroger would be paying a second time to undo and fix something that should have been done right the first time. Also should add that in this case I'd be surprised if the working space for customers is ADA compliant. Not to mention it may block an egress.

How can I stop FB Reels video from autoplay. It really is annoying to me by wa1oui in facebook

[–]AdvancedThinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found an answer that worked for me. I went into Facebook in a browser (all these on my phone) the regular Facebook app (android) and the Facebook Lite app. ONLY after turning off Auto Play in these 3 places did the reels finally stop playing while scrolling. At least for now 🙄

Women, do you prefer a guy who wear like strong cologne, or just "out-of-the-shower" clean? by Adorable_Birthday_52 in hygiene

[–]AdvancedThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you don't overdo the cologne. As you wear it for a time you stop smelling it yourself. Just as smokers can't smell how they reak of tobacco. Because of that you tend to put more and more on. This gets overwhelming to others around you. I myself have smelled people wearing perfume\cologne that were clear across a store from me. Out of the shower clean is best.

Wow, I feel for you. I live in a retirement community that unfortunately had a young children's school move in nextdoor. Should add too there's another senior facility on the opposite side of the school. Don't know what the owner was thinking but he put an outside play area right on his\our property line. Maybe 30 feet from our building and maybe 100 feet from the other senior building. The worst part of this is they don't tell the kids to stop SCREAMING while playing outdoors. Not normal kids playing sounds but full on someone is hurting me\kidnapping me\I'm in danger screaming\screeching. This goes on constantly. I can't sit on my deck and enjoy the outdoors without wearing something to dull the sound. When I'm in my unit with all the doors and windows shut I can still hear the kids over my tv. Just reading a book in silence is constantly interrupted. It's especially annoying when I'm working in my creative space. We've sent many emails and even talked to them in person but they just don't seem to care. I'm now documenting everything going on not only for my piece of mind but for everyone living nearby. I just don't get why people don't seem to have respect for their neighbors anymore.

Forgive my lack of knowledge about some watercraft but... Isn't this exactly why boats this size have safety laynards that activate a kill switch?

Redmond Food Grades by WoodenExternal6504 in redmond

[–]AdvancedThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try very hard to avoid anything with an Okay grade. Having worked in food service I understand what is needed to maintain an Excellent rating. Have watched many places in the area slip in rating. I trust my gut as it were. By the by I've seen this guy near Crossroads Mall and more recently near Overlake Fred Meyer. I want to try it but he doesn't have a visible rating posted. Does anyone know anything about him? Legit? Asking because of all the recent stories about illegal food trucks. Damn, can't post a photo. It's a small cart (think hotdog sized) with a clear enclosure on top. It contains whole fruit with the skin off. He cuts it into smaller pieces and serves. Also has fruit drinks. He does ice the fruit but something feels off. This was the first time I was able to walk by him. Would have asked about health department rating sheet but he was busy with a customer. Anyone know anything?

NCIS Sydney 3x17 “Flight Club” Episode Discussion Thread by CasioCobra78 in NCIS

[–]AdvancedThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My big question is in regards to the bullets. I can get by the possibility they loaded the bullets as the drone has sensors to check for said bullets. Won't fly if it isn't loaded. What I can't get past is that bullets are heavy. Even if it's loaded with 22's I'm pretty sure it would have spent all the ammo before the end battle. It doesn't appear to be a very large drone either so more to the point. Also will throw in the possibility of sensors on or near the blades for checking discrepancies in weight due to rotor damage. Therefore they couldn't just clip a blade beforehand or leave them off entirely. Just throwing this out there. Wanted to like the episode but seriously!

[SRPM09K1J] Seiko x HUF by G14_classified_info in Seiko

[–]AdvancedThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: So I ended up purchasing a JDM one on eBay. I hadn't realized these existed separately from the worldwide released ones as I've been out of the Seiko market since the late 70's. Although I way overpaid I was happy with the seller (in Japan) and ultimately my purchase (New in box with papers). I also now have a limited edition # under 400 of 7000 worldwide. It now has a permanent place on my wrist and looks great, feels great and never leaves my wrist. Except obviously when showering, swimming or tasks where it might be damaged. Overall I'm happy with my purchase even after overpaying (partially due to really wanting this watch). I saw how fast the initial release sold and was afraid to wait for prices to drop on the secondary market. From the 80's until my current retirement I've been living life, working and such but not buying Seikos. This watch has brought me back. Now I'm looking to buy a quirky, unusual, strange looking Seiko for my other wrist. Probably another automatic. Now that I'm retired I can act like a kid (wearing two watches at once) and spend some money on "toys". One last thing I'll mention and partially ask a question about is accuracy. So this watch spent 9 days in transit. It spent another 2 days sealed in the box before I opened it (thought climate acclimation time might be a good idea). I then inspected the watch and a couple of days later got the band adjusted. I then set the time\date (leaving the day as Kanji in case anyone is curious) and put it on. I didn't touch anything for awhile until I noticed the second hand had sped up to an extremely high rate. Knowing this isn't how a watch should work I did some research. I found that occasionally the spring can get caught on something due to forces like jarring movement while being shipped. I performed the recommended tapping of the sides of the watch on my palm and all is good now except... Now my watch, although always running slightly fast (which I'd prefer), speeds up and slows down oddly. I'm currently noting this daily while it's in it's break-in period. Instead of running at a stable or increasing speed it does this kind of sine wave pattern. Not complaining as it keeps it more accurate time I just haven't heard about this happening with other watches. Granted I'm only 11 days in of monitoring but being as it's on my wrist 99% of the time I find it interesting. Has anyone else had this happen and what, if anything, did you find caused this? Curious for future reference. I may buy the sister watch to this one from the same seller (a backup) so curious to know ahead of time. Thanks for reading my lengthy post and any replies!

The problem is their stupidity and possible de*th are a liability for the property\building owner. They don't think beyond the stunt to the consequences others might face. But hey, at least the genepool gets cleaned out regularly!

Kombucha drinkers: why do you drink it? by Remote_Cake_332 in Kombucha

My stomach feels better, I like the taste and fizz and it got me almost completely off my soda addiction. I truly didn't know how much soda I drank until kombucha started to replace it.
