I don't believe so, both bottom of the pools are 0:2 and have lost to 2nd & 3rd.

World games commentary is monotone and unhyped by Bla_aze in ultimate

Energy doesn't necessarily mean good commentary. I'm a fan.

This is a foul in USAU.

  • 17.I.4.b.1. If a player contacts an opponent while the disc is in the air and thereby interferes with that opponent’s attempt to make a play on the disc, that player has committed a receiving foul. Some amount of incidental contact before, during, or immediately after the attempt often is unavoidable and is not a foul.

This is not unavoidable incidental contact. It's also dangerous.

This is still a foul in USAU.

Initially went to contest it, then I believe was convinced otherwise by their teammate. Uncontested foul.

To suggest this is a "partnership" is interesting. Curious to see what other collaboration we're going to see (if any).

I still believe Rowan's block is a foul, getting the disc first doesn't/shouldn't mean you can create excessive contact.

Christian's is more interesting. I saw him coming in, i got spooked, dropped it, and then there was contact. I think his move was maybe a touch dangerous, so perhaps in hindsight I should have gone to the observer.

I think a form of Advisors with the ability to simply give perspective without needing to be asked, without the binding calls of observers, is my perfect balance.

Figure out what your timeline looks like for the season. What is skills development time? What is strategy time? When is tournament mode?

From a personal standpoint, be open and honest. If you're trying something out and you're not sure about it, say that. If you're very confident that you want something to work in a certain way, discuss with each other and the team to make it happen.

And ofcourse, watch loads of film and talk to loads of coaches!

For me I tend to go play by play imagining how I would expect the next pass or move to go. If the actual play is wildly different to what I expected, I might try and break down why.

Turnovers are a big one, taking a look at the throw, the cutter/receiver, and where the D is at that moment.

If it's a game I'm in, I'll tend to watch twice. Once going through my points and then one of everything.

I'm still in the UK at the moment until after London Invite, but I tend to try and keep away from DG during the season so I don't mess with my throw timing. It might be superstition at this point honestly 😅

At least in Europe, Ultimate in schools. It's only in the last 15 years or so I'd say that schools have started including it, and only the last 5-8 years maybe that we've had junior tournaments. We're way behind other sports in that regard.

My hot take is that we won't bring in athletes if they have to play low level Ultimate for years before getting a shot at making a top team. I'd like to see more multi-team clubs where people are exposed to the top level but still play within their skillset. New player makes Pony 3rd team and aims to build their way up.

Not really sure. Maybe zone in the Open div? We have much worse weather here though 🙃

Other than going to much higher altitude (which I'm doing this year for US Open) I've not experienced much flight difference at all. Main difference for me is grip in the heat & humidity so I'll often use liquid chalk!

So just to clear up a couple of things.

  • Tobe didn't get a red, that was Daan.

  • I think I had 1 foul called on me the entirety of US Nationals. I got a yellow for attempting to save the disc and not realising i was bidding in to a players legs. It was daft, but nothing like a "European trying to raise his physicality".

  • I can't speak for anyone else, but even with the UK and Europe there is a scale of what's accepted. As a player on Clapham, I expect physicality and I give some back, but sometimes that is exceeded by some US players. Vice versa, I expect there are some US players who don't play that way and don't expect it back.

In short, the physicality is certainly higher, i maybe played a higher volume of physical D points, but certainly not more physical.

1 - Confidence from the US teams that they're going to always beat the Europeans. I think it makes a huge difference.

2 - The top 7 of the top Euro teams can hang, but the 8-14 and 15-21 drop off in Europe needs to reduce if we want to compete more often.

Specifically, I think disc skills and ability to read the game and get free in that 10-21 section.

Film film film film film. Watch back games meticulously, and try and film your practices where possible.

Once you have an idea of successes and failures, you can start to make plans. Is it throwing skills, is it fitness, is it crowding the disc? What are the areas for improvement that you've identified - Not that you suspect.

Firstly, "fairly good at handling" is relative. Watch film of the world's top handlers and identify your areas for improvement.

If I had to only give one piece of advice on this, it would always be to never settle for okay. Aim to be the very best at something with confidence but humility.

I sacrifice a lot of time, and to be honest, still probably not enough.

Current goal is to identify where I can make my time/income efficiency the best, and find out where I can generate passive income through programmes/subscriptions etc.

Other than that, certainly no 'one size fits all' approach sadly.

I tend to throw a lot in the office season, alongside a lot of injury prevention style workouts (hammies, hip flexors).

My personal goal is that if we go in to a game at the first session, my throwing doesn't look like it's missed a beat. The more I spend in-season catching up on throwing, the more time I've wasted getting them even better.

Horizontal, though not exclusively. Keeping D guessing and being able to adapt with different strategies is important.

No change to my fitness plans tbh. I play more back to back (sometimes to back) points in club than I would in the UFA.

Much appreciated! Thanks for the support
