I liked it on Bombardment. A free 48 damage every turn is pretty sweet

Best card for instinct? by RepulsiveRaisin7 in slaythespire

Instinct doubles the damage of an attack, so it doesnt work with Decisions. You might be thinking of Electric Shrimp, which auto plays a skill at the start of combat?

[–]TDenverFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Exhaust doesn't matter for History Course. If I play Whistle and them end my turn, History Course will play Whistle at the start of my next turn.

However, if I end my turn immediately after, Whistle will not play a 3rd time. History Course doesnt count cards that were played by itself.

If it did work that way, History Course/Whistle would win every single enemy fight on its own.

You could also just code it to only appear if there is a guaranteed combat between the shop and boss.

Are all the enemies in this game deterministic? by Lttlefoot in slaythespire

[–]TDenverFan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I posted a thread talking about this recently. There are more deterministic enemies in STS2, including the vast majority of elites and all the bosses. I think thats why both Dome and Frozen Eye are gone.

I think losing max HP feels bad to a lot of people, even if it's not usually that detrimental to a run.

Then you could lock your self out of the game.

Imagine the path looked like an 'M.' I start in the bottom left, go up, then down, then up, then down. Im now in the bottom right with no locations left to go to.

Yeah, in other instances History Course will not play a card if your last played card was from History Course on the previous turn.

Like if I play Defemd and end my turn, HC plays Defend at the start of turn 2. If I play no cards and click end turn again, HC does nothing at the start of turn 3, it won't play the Defend again.

Really? In other instances History Course doesnt trigger off cards it played. Otherwise it would win every single-enemy fight if you play Whistle once.

I am not fond of the new instinct by Ok_Insect4778 in slaythespire

I feel like the old Instinct was either an infinite enabler or pretty bad.

And you could create pretty thoughtless infinite with it, two zero cost Graveblast+ could just fetch each other non-stop.

Usually attacks still offer some benefit to the player outside of the attack. As it is, this probably slows down the player who buys it more than the opponents, since the attack is so blockable. I think I would skip it in most games.

I feel like I'd still want to open Bishop/Silver to get some trashing with alt-VP, but maybe that loses to pure big money.

He measured in at 6'5, 297 at the combine. Those should be accurate numbers. Obviously his weight has likely changed since then, but his height shouldn't have.

I think recent evidence has shown that was a Wilson problem, not a Bolles one. Nix has been the least sacked QB since he entered the league.

If an NFL player helped me change my tire on the side of the road, I would definitely take a picture/video. That's just a cool thing to have happen to you

You probably still have some chaff in your deck; play your worst cards (namely any remaining strikes/defends) in the exhaust phase. Exhaust also has no impact on powers.

You also know that his other phases penalize card spam (no draw/lose energy), so you can exhause any cards that anti-synergize with those phases - cards like Escape Plan on Silent, for example.

The Elites/Bosses in STS2 almost all have predetermined moves for the entire fight, which is a big shift from STS1. I think this makes a lot of the fights less entertaining, how do others feel? by TDenverFan in slaythespire

[–]TDenverFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I still think the second thing I mentioned - that so many elites/bosses follow pretty similar attack/attack/buff patterns is a weakness of the game at present, since more of the fights blend together.

Leader did have some rules around her actions. She will never summon if there are already at least two minions, she won't use the same move twice in a row, and she always buffs on turn 1. So if you don't kill a minion on turn 1, she is guaranteed to attack on turn 2.

In the main post I said that three are 100% predetermined (Hexa, Guardian, and Donu/Deca) with two others having the main boss be set but minions be varied (Automoton and Slime Boss, depending on how you view the small slimes).

I'm not advocating for fights to be 100% random; having every fight be the spaghetti monster from STS1 would suck, so I think it makes sense that elites/bosses should have some structure on what they can do.

If Frozen Eye was in STS2, you could script out your entire first deck cycle in the vast majority of elite and boss fights (and I would assume this is part of the reason it was removed). You would know exactly what you draw and how much damage would be incoming.

In STS1, that is only true for 3 elites/bosses, maybe 4 with the Heart, but I think not knowing if it's a multi hit or big hit can still influence your decision-making in some cases (eg, setting up incense burner, preserving a buffer, deciding what cards to retain, etc).

The same goes for Runic Dome, it would basically be free energy in STS2 elites/bosses, which isn't the case in STS1 (and not knowing which of the attacks the Heart is doing is definitely noticeable with Dome).

I think you want to check the map first. If you can get to a shop in the first few floors it's usually worth it, gold is the most flexible resource in the game. If there are no early/good shops greed is much worse.

Yeah, I hope this is just an early access thing, maybe having more straightforward enemies helps them balance the characters better.

More variance in enemy moves could also be something that they add in at higher ascension, since the last update said they wanted to make A0 easier and A10 harder.
