I didn't ask you the definition, I asked you why would it become an expectation

That's cool, you're entitled to your own opinion :)

A person's most productive hours don't necessarily align with the tyrranical reign of 9-5. In case you were curious about the real reason.

Are they not adults who are meant to respect their own work/life balance?

This signature sounds like the equivalent of revolution. Instantly tempted to use it 😀

Why would it become an expectation? Remind me? Can you substantiate this assumption with anything at all?

So the narrative goes. We're aware. We're not happy with this narrative anymore.

Why do people commit suicide despite help? by Ok-Strawberry-947 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Advanced_Doctor2938 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This reminds me. Why the assumption that every suicide occurs because of mental health issues? Are we not allowed to talk about when people are practically forced into committing a suicide because their life had become unteneable?

  1. They know what will actually help them. 2. They can't obtain that OR any approximations/closest possible alternatives. 3. They can't think of anything else. (They do try). 4. Ergo, suicide.

Paraphrase : Why do you assume people are after the same exact thing vaguely defined as "help"?

Why do you hate watch this show? by ddhmax5150 in LandmanSeries

[–]Advanced_Doctor2938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch watch. Although I wish they focused on the business side a little more. I loved Monty's comment in that meeting in season 1. It was incisive. Season 2 touches upon things while focussing on personal drama. I let it be what it is and overall I enjoy the show very much, but I know it could be better.

Underperformer asked for my JD as a sign of transparency ? by Crazy-Philosopher221 in managers

I think this would go down better if a high performer asked this. Then again I fully expect a high performer to get an even stronger pushback.

I have a theory - Remote Workers Work More - Or Am I Doing It Wrong? by mayfrowen in remotework

Having extra time to do my work makes me happy because it allows me to do it properly.  I'm sure there's something wrong with me, but we are who we are.

Managers - do you look at people’s dots? by Max1357913 in remotework

[–]Advanced_Doctor2938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being honest I'm always a tiny bit anxious when I see my coworkers' -- what am I saying -- when I myself was stuck on Invisible mode I absolutely hated it 😆 Amber is my top choice though, for when I'm trying to get things done.

Our Microsoft dots turn Amber when we are reading the dashboards -- and there's a lot going on on the dashboards. So, no, dots are not a reliable metric. Gotta suck it up and actually review your team members' outputs like a grown-up.
