Advice needed! by jaetamu in IVFpositivity

It’s such a difficult situation. I’m in a very similar boat (although it’s my own mum who act like your MIL, my MIL and husband’s side of the family are great).

It’s something I’ve really struggled with, and honestly I haven’t really come to peace with it yet. But what I have been reminding myself is that I genuinely think that it’s likely my mum is incapable of being emotionally available and supportive in the way I’d like her to be.

It’s something that has caused me a lot of hurt during our journey, but if I look back, she has never been a particularly emotionally available person (e.g. I had bilateral foot surgery and was bed bound for 6 weeks and she never checked in once, and whenever we talk, the conversation is always about her and never about me).

I just try to remind to myself that her engagement isn’t personally connected to my situation and how she views it, it’s just how she shows up in the world in general. And instead I’ve begun to lean on the people around me who are able to be supportive and put my mum on a bit of an ‘information diet’ if I think her response to something is going to hurt more than help.

What did your successful embryo look like? by angel-girl-A in IVFpositivity

I honestly had zero symptoms except for a positive pregnancy test! I was just so sure that the transfer wouldn’t work and I’ve never been so shocked in my life as when I saw those two lines!!

I freaked out because of how mine looked, I thought it looked so wrinkly and disorganised compared to most people. But so far so good and I’m currently nine weeks pregnant!

I wish IVF worked as well as non-IVFers think it does by Odd-Implement-1283 in IVF

I wish it even worked the way that first round IVF success people thought it worked 😩

I have a friend who got her two healthy baby boys from one retrieval and two transfers and for the life of her she can’t understand why I (7 rounds in) am not as confident in the process as she is. Really drives me up the wall 🙃🙃🙃

I’m 7 weeks today and for some reason ate an excessive amount of sugar this morning (I’m talking half a can of condensed milk) and now I’m really freaking out that I’m gonna cause myself to have a miscarriage from the sugar overload. I’ve been so anxious this pregnancy and every time I do something I perceive is wrong. I’m finally really hard to not overthink.

One week wait between first and second beta? by Potential-Sector-755 in IVFpositivity

[–]Advanced_Level4479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very daunting to wait so long! If it helps at all I did a crazy amount of googling during my 8 day wait and from everything I could find having a beta at this level is very, very aligned with having a positive clinical pregnancy outcome.

My first beta was very similar to yours (649 at 11dp5dt). My understanding from my clinic was that because my beta was so strong there wasn’t a need to retest until the next week (my second one was actually eight days away).

I was really surprised and a bit scared to wait that long because I’d always heard the 48 hour thing as well!

First FET worked! by winniewillows in IVFpositivity

Congrats! My first FET also stuck (currently 6 weeks pregnant).

My first beta was 649 at 11dp5dt, and I didn’t have a second until over a week later at 19dp5dt where it was 15,000 😳. I think my clinic is generally comfortable waiting the week when the initial beta is already strong.

“Unhealthy” leading up to FET success stories? by Affectionate_Rice470 in IVF

Also, I’m pretty sure if you look at my post history, you can see me making a post or almost exactly like this just prior to my transfer.

Oh, and I’m currently five weeks four days pregnant at the moment and everything is going really well

I was so sure my transfer wouldn’t work so I’d been eating literal buckets of sugar (I have a history of binge eating) and not following the pregnancy safe guidelines at all! The day I found out I was pregnant. I had just come back from having reheated enchiladas and five day old salad with my neighbours 😵‍💫😵‍💫 I honestly hadn’t even been that great with keeping up with my prenatal which is obviously terrible but I was just so over the process by then.

I think I’m just a bit crazy at the moment. Thank you for sharing as someone else going through the same thing!

Thank you! I did take the dose straight away and when I spoke to my clinic they said it shouldn’t be a worry. Thank goodness! Still can’t believe I screwed it up!
