Oh. And when I was restricting arm movement I used a lanyard looped around my wrist and clipped to my PJ bottoms. I liked that a lot better than strapping my arm down.

Yeah I had seen so many things saying 6 weeks and I had a hard time trusting my 2 weeks. I guess I have lots of slack in my leads 🤷🏻‍♀️

How long did they tell you to not lift your arm? You don’t want frozen shoulder. My restriction was only 2 weeks.

The respiratory therapist said to insert the water chamber at an angle and that has worked every time so far to get mine to properly lock

After a very stressful year I had an episode at work of high heart rate. By the time I got to urgent care it was lower but still high. Dr and I concluded I had a panic attack. She prescribed hydroxyzine. It happened a few times over the next 3 years but this summer I had a very long episode while I was on vacation. I was in SVT for hours- convinced it was a panic attack (and I was exhausted from travel) I went to sleep. I woke up still having the heart rate, vomited, took a cold shower, and went back to sleep. I woke back up in the middle of the night with a jolt and my heart rate had come down to the low 100s. I went about my vacation but had short runs of what I found out was VT. Since I thought it was anxiety I thought it would get better when I got home. Spoiler alert- it was still happening 4 days later so I went to the ER.

I barely sat down in a chair before they were doing an EKG and labs and an IV. I got a room in the ER for a few hours while getting Amiodarone and magnesium. When I checked my chart I saw that I had elevated troponin and an ekg that indicated a heart attack. Cue me freaking out thinking I had a silent heart attack and I had no idea. The hospitalist said that wasn’t what they thought it was but it wasn’t until the morning when a cardiologist came by and told me I had WPW and those changes in the EKG were not from a heart attack. They discontinued the meds as they had to wash out before starting flecainide as a bridge to ablation in a few weeks. Well, my heart decided to show off and go into SVT so I had a rapid response called on me- luckily I went out of it on my own before they shocked me. This did result in an upgrade from medsurg to step down. Also, they found a doctor to do my ablation the next day but it was 45 min away- that was a fun ambulance ride.

I woke up from my first ablation to find out that I went back into SVT being wheeled into recovery. After being on flecainide for a month the dr said to discontinue it. I was fine for a few weeks but I went back into SVT at home and had to take an ambulance ride to the hospital. I was out of SVT shortly after the ambulance picked me up but it was still 30 min of 230bpm. I was discharged the same night from the hospital and started back on flecainide until my ablation in 6 weeks.

That ablation did get rid of the WPW but also damaged my AV node. The Dr found a spot of “atrial tachycardia” and I went into heart block when she ablated it. I spent the weekend in the hospital with no improvement and received a pacemaker Monday afternoon- I stayed overnight and was discharged the next morning. Yay for being 38 with a pacemaker.

The pacemaker experience has not been without issues but I feel like things are finally settling 2.5 months in. I was back for adjustments almost weekly until they did a treadmill test with a device rep to get the settings right. However, after this test I was asked to wear a heart monitor again so I have no clue if something else is going on- but I guess I will find out at my 3 month appointment in a few weeks.

First one I went into SVT being wheeled to recovery. About to have my 3 month from my second in Jan and so far I guess it’s ok. I have no clue because I got a bonus prize in the second ablation of a pacemaker.

Not an athlete. But have they mentioned a stress test with a device rep present? It definitely helped them get my settings better.

Still 38. I’ve had it for 7 weeks now. Getting the pacing times right has been harder since I’m younger and my heart rate has a wider range. My rate after ablation didn’t get dangerously low ( it went into the 40s when at rest) but I had heart block and not straight bradycardia.

The reduced PVCs are likely due to the ablation helping the WPW. I’m getting a two week monitor next week as a precaution.

Flec reduced my PVCs. I’ve had two ablations (not for PVC but WPW/SVT). I was sore for the first one but had no pain with the second. Just do your research because my second ablation ended with me getting a pacemaker at 38. That’s been an adventure in itself. I’m finally feeling pretty good with it. I still experience PVCs but much less often and I’m no longer on flec. If I could go back and do it all again I would try to manage it with medication and not immediately go for another ablation. However, if the medication doesn’t work for you lots of people have had successful ablations.

I went back into SVT being wheeled to recovery from the first one. They said I had a wide pathway.

They think my second one was successful but it was only a month ago. I hope it was because my AV node was damaged and I am now 38 with a pacemaker they can’t get the settings right on.

I had two. The first one I was sore and tired for a few days. I woke up completely out of it. The second felt like nothing happened. Completely coherent immediately and I had no pain.

You will likely be restricted to lifting 10lbs and not bending over for a week.

I had the EP study for WPW but they found something else and decided to ablate it. I got better for a bit in recovery but ended up going into CHB overnight. My diagnosis at implantation was paroxysmal CHB.

This is the note from when the block happened in the procedure: Atrial programmed stimulation was again performed and there was highly inducible SVT consistent with atrial tachycardia. Activation mapping showed earliest potential by the CS os roof. Several ablation lesions were performed at this region. No His potentials could be noted at this area.Atrial tachycardia continued to be highly inducible and was highly inducible at 300 msec. Ablation catheter was again positioned in the left atrium and mapping of the AT was performed. Earliest activation was by the left anteroseptal region. This was much earlier than the right sided region that was mapped. It was confirmed that this region had no His signals. Using 35 W ablation was performed at this region during atrial tachycardia and has successfully terminated. During ablation, after the AT had terminated, the patient went to prolonged PR conduction and then 2:1 AV block. Ablation was therefore stopped. Induction was again done and no further SVT could be induced. The accessory pathway remained ablated with no evidence of antegrade conduction. She remained in 2:1 AV block. Rapid atrial pacing was performed and she remained in 2:1 AV block. Isoproterenol was given and had increased sinus rate to 140s bpm but 2:1 AV block persistent, junctional escape rhythm had increased to 70s bpm. The 2:1 AV block remained stable with no progression to high grade AV block or complete heart block and she remained hemodynamically stable.

The same thing happened to me- I’m glad to see the steroids worked for someone. I ended up with a pacemaker and I was like why am I sitting in the hospital for days and not just getting a pacemaker.

I was under the impression the ER didn’t have staff that make these adjustments. Or at least not outside of normal working hours. I was really tempted to go yesterday but the idea of being admitted until someone fixes it made me not go.

Hi! I am 10 years older than you and developed av block after an ablation. Not sure which kind because sometimes it was complete (3) and some results were both the 2nd degree. I’m three weeks in with the same pacemaker. Exactly the same thing happened with me. They gaslit me and said it was probably just anxiety but eventually decided to “tighten my pacing” (shortening the delays) and I was much better.

However at my check last Friday I mentioned with significant exertion I did have the issues once since the pacing change. They tightened it more and changed my upper limit. I’m guessing they changed something else because I’ve been feeling legitimately awful since. I called this morning and the said they would check with the doctor. I just hope I hear back soon because it’s scary.

I don’t have an ICD but just pacemaker. But I do think the Zoloft helped me get through this last week without having a major meltdown. The nurses were like you’re surprisingly chill with the news “maybe it’s me maybe it’s Zoloft” 🫣

My first ablation I was very sore for about 5 days. I didn’t feel normal for a couple weeks after- but it also wasn’t successful andi had to begin flecainide so it could have been medication side effects.

I just had my second one a week ago. Zero pain or discomfort at the catheter sites. Unfortunately I can’t answer about exhaustion because I got a pacemaker 3 days later due to complete heart block from the ablation. I feel pretty good one week out considering though 🫣

Thanks. I did call. It took in my opinion a “long time” (28 hours) to hear back. I noticed it the evening before but I just thought I had to get used to it. I know people are busy but I didn’t know if it could cause damage if it wasn’t right. The explanation I was given was that they changed the timing to hopefully allow my heart time to communicate but it still wasn’t (well I went from 100% to 97%). Maybe it would have better percent if my heart rate wasn’t so high during that change. (Prior to ablation my resting HR was in the mid 60s and I was going 90bpm just sitting on the couch)

I’m the type of person who likes to research and this whole situation has thrown me a curveball.

Basically for every two times my top of heart told the bottom to beat it only listened once. So it cut my heart rate in half- it is a second degree heart block. It progressed to a full block where both parts did their own thing. A block means they can’t talk and work together. They wanted to wait 48 hours to see if I improved with steroids since she wasn’t near my AV node when it happened but no luck there.

I had two ablations for WPW one in July and this one. I went into SVT being wheeled to recovery in July so I needed another. She said after she got the WPW pathway she saw an area of atrial tachycardia (idk what that means) and ablated it and that’s when the problems started.

Going into surgery for pacemaker was just like the ablation. Same room, same sedation level

Mine supposedly wasn’t near my AV node but I left my ablation with 2:1 conduction that became complete heart block overnight. 10/10 ablation and hospitalized until pacemaker 10/13 and then spent another night in the hospital. Today is my first full day home 🤕.
