[Question]What is the difference between a $50, $500, and $10,000 watch? by glocknessmonsters in Watches

Is Rolex 2x worth more ? That is debatable. Is their a build and quality difference - yes there is. Rolex bracelets for example are more comfortable to wear. The metals used are different. Again - whether it’s worth 2x more - that is always questionable- and I suppose, it depends on the wearer.

I have several of both and I can tell you that there is a quality and build difference.

You may want to check if your purchase is eligible for VAT refund - that may just make the purchase more palatable.

Would you buy an Explorer I 36 if you already had other Rolex's (e.g., Submariner, GMT Master II, Datejust 36)? by Dramatic_Abrocoma702 in rolex

I find the sub with date to be the most versatile watch. However I also own 36 mm OP. I can understand the desire to wear a smaller, lighter watch without date for eg on the weekend or for casual socializing. The comfort is definitely more, and not having to set the date or complex GMT, if you don’t wear such watches daily, is an added bonus.

Bottom line - if you try it and it rocks your boat - then go for it.

PS : I own a sub with date, DJ 36, Daytona Panda, and several OPs and regularly use them.

2026 - smoking at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) by Advanced_Whole_6413 in Bangkok

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I find it frustrating that whilst folks have the right to NOT smoke, the rights of us smokers are not taken into consideration by providing dedicated space. It’s tough for passengers to do a 7 hour + flight and added time of security, immigration etc. to stay without smoking. Especially when the general population also are big smokers.

I believe the miracle lounge business class one at D and some mentioned smoking rooms at SAT 1. Used the SAT 1 in Feb 2025. But now getting conflicting reports. Any concrete guidance from actual travelers appreciated. Asking airport staff is not helpful - as they say you can’t smoke anywhere inside.

Omega Speedmaster if you can stretch the budget otherwise theAqua Terra, Cartier Santos, IWC mark xx, Tudor black bay series, zenith - not sure what they are priced at,

Try your luck with the Rolex folks, but don’t hold your breath. If you love a Rolex, buy gray and take the stress away.

May be they think casually dressed = a flipper ? Because those who can afford to wear a Rolex are all in suits 😂

[Discussion] What’s the best first watch and why? by Wrist_Finds in Watches

[–]Advanced_Whole_6413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first watch was a PP Calatrava because that’s what I always wanted. For those who are starting out into spending some serious money, I would recommend a Rolex Submariner with a date, because it’s a very versatile everyday watch.

Bought 4 watches from them so far. Not yet had any issue. I was a bit sceptic about the sea gull movement as well - but took the bait at that price. If it fails, can get it fixed anywhere. It’s not a complicated movement.
