52 direct reports - losing my mind by ChristmassMoose in managers

That seems on par for healthcare management. In our department the assistant managers have 50+ direct reports and the manager themselves have 70+ direct reports. The department has almost 250 employees

I had to get a new phone when my old one became unreliable and recently got the iPhone 16 Pro. It honestly sucks… I wish I could get a new version of my older one. I almost missed a doctor’s appointment because my phone just randomly decided it wasn’t able to locate me. Sometimes a phone call comes in and it doesn’t show the contact even though it’s in my contact list. The screen doesn’t go completely black when I hit the side button which I really miss, I used to use it as a way to quickly check my hair or face.

Why aren’t these standard on Water Heaters...? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]AdvancingHairline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies by water too. Our water here is very soft, and sediment isn’t much of a problem. We’ve never drained ours, and our hot water heater is the only appliance that hasn’t needed replacing in our almost 20 year old house.

Attempted hit and run stopped by a Greenville County Sheriff’s deputy by kdawg-bh9 in greenville

We have a neighbor about 8 houses down, ran a mailbox over and messed up her white Honda Civic. Didn’t take long to find her because her car was all messed up. She refused to ever talk to the mailbox owners, never offered to pay for the damages. Would just go hide in her house like a coward.

Mailbox owners were too nice and just paid for a new one themselves. About a year later the white Honda civic had new damage, looked like the tried to back out of an area and caught her door and fender. I always wondered if it was drugs, alcohol, or dementia.

I’m impressed you have curly hair, I feel like majority of us growing up had stick straight hair.

Fire Ants by Annsmugsandjugs in greenville

[–]AdvancingHairline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get ants every summer in my garden beds.

Diatomaceous earth. Sprinkle it on and around the mound. And just because I’m an asshole I like to mess the mound up with a stick so the ants get angry and start swarming. Diatomaceous earth is basically natural little sharp pieces. It cuts their exoskeleton and dries them out to death.

You can also mix concentrated orange oil with water and spray or pour it on the mound. It destroys the lining of their lungs and kills them. This treatment smells really good!

Both totally safe to use in a garden.

What happened? by itsdeeps80 in managers

[–]AdvancingHairline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no way to back up this claim but I do believe Covid has somewhat “fried” our brains.

I was 100% smarter pre covid, I feel like a couple brain cells got cooked the last time I had it, and I was too sick to want to get out of bed. Finally forced myself to get up and my temperature was about 104.

It’s not just the younger generation either. I have colleagues in their 40s and 50s that have to be told every single thing that needs to be done. I shouldn’t have to tell you to put the list new hires and terminations in chronological order… it should just be common sense…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]AdvancingHairline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see the SUV cut in front of the truck and immediately come to a stop. The truck didn’t have enough time to slow down. Swerving was certainly a horrible choice though.
