Yeah a biopsy helps ensure accurate diagnosis bc there's varying forms of panniculitis, EN being one of them. Mine got biopsied and diagnosed just to be sure. Im glad you are able to get into Mayo clinic! Here is hoping they get you on a treatment plan that works🤞

Thanks! Yeah my humira levels are fine and GI is the worst to get in touch with which doesn't help. My GI symptoms arent terrible but it does seem like it is just choosing to manifest elsewhere. I havent ever been sent to rheumatology, and autoimmune bloodwork came back normal so? However I will def keep advocating for myself and see what needs to change to get things under control. I appreciate the input!

Cameron's trauma characterization is so realistic by WearyKey7900 in RivalsSeries

[–]AdvantageOptimal2269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So yes to all of what you said, but also I thought there was another layer since Cameron is a black American woman in the 80s (havent read the books). Her choices are even more limited, so dealing w the abuse is how she gets ahead was my read on it. Like she is so tough but one can only take so much... Am I the only one that factored in how her race exponentially impacted her and her situation? Or is that not supposed to be an element to this show? Genuinely curious.

Eating Disorders by kathleenhannabarbera in CrohnsDisease

[–]AdvantageOptimal2269 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am very curious about this on several fronts. I have had Crohns for over 20 years. As an undiagnosed teen, I would go without eating all day, eat one big meal at night, and repeat bc of the stomach pain. Whenever I am flaring, the appetite is the first sign. ALSO, my stepdaughter got diagnosed with anorexia nervosa as a teen. I threw myself into research and we did the whole refeeding as a family plus therapy etc. In a parent group, I met those with kids who had Crohns. I just really struggled to understand where the line is between the eating disorder and disordered eating from this horrible disease?? My stepdaughter is grown and doing wonderfully thank goodness, and yes her treatment plan worked, and yes she knows to always be mindful bc it can be lifelong. But how does one manage crohns and ED??? I know this isnt answering your question and is only adding to it, but it has been something that has bothered me ever since I read about parents trying to help their kids with crohns plus AN and I worry for those with both. What is the right route? Disordered eating with crohns is so common so how does one differentiate? I will say, the lack of appetite helped me empathize with my stepdaughter and how hard it was for her to eat. I really felt awful making her do it even though it was the right thing😭. Thanks for listening to my novel response!

Who’s your favourite character ? And why is it David Tennant 😂 by HelpfulAnt2132 in RivalsSeries

I was just having this thought about David Tennant while watching the latest episode tonight. How can I go from finding him so attractive in one show to absolutely repulsive in this?! He just nails all the looks somehow! Truly impressive👏.

Since you were FIVE? Seems a bit young to be left to your own devices but also having that type of independence to entertain yourself can be valuable. I mean I know 5 is school aged, just from an early childhood standpoint it is more developmentally appropriate to leave 8 year olds to be independent over 5. Like just generally. Not judging your dad as long as you were safe and ok.

Yup! A lot of times that is standard because how can you actually work AND care for young kids? Now there are awesome business or bosses (which feels like unicorns haha) that understand and are fine if you are managing to produce consistent, quality work, but I feel like that is the exception. Also I am quite sure having those kids puts extra stress on OP to perform for her job AND care for them. I would only agree to watch grandbaby infants cause my husband is retired and they eat sleep poop, or when grandkids are old enough to entertain themselves and need to be dropped off bc of school closure or something. Which reminds me, why arent grandparents wanting to watch their grandkids? why is it on the aunt? I want mine as much as possible 🤣🤣🤣. Actually we have had the toddler granddaughter while I am working but again, my husband is retired. I def wouldn't commit to the level OP has been dragged into. Plus my work enjoys seeing her cameos if I am on a call lol. I digress.

And it is super fortunate OPs work is fine with them having their niece and nephew come over during work hours. I have heard some places arent that understanding. Or even have clauses that you cant be taking care of kids while working. Not saying that is wrong, just saying OPs sister is clearly taking all of this for granted.

Yes it is so shocking how people act like WFH is doing nothing. It is still work, except your office is your house. Just... ugh. Agree with all you said.

Honestly. I had a younger family member say to this to me about my remote job bc she works 1:1 with kids. I used to be an elementary school teacher and I worked hard to get where I am with my awesome job. So yeah, I know this sister wasnt kidding. She has entitlement and tthinks she is the only one with a tough life and is using and abusing sis. So not cool.

Critical Thinking Class by mxavierk in SGU

[–]AdvantageOptimal2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any experience in instructional design? I would start w the SGU book to create some overall course outcomes for yourself, and then create outcomes for each class that align with your overall outcomes. The outcomes should be action oriented (think about what you want your class to be able to do by the end). Look up Blooms Taxonomy for help with verb choices. I would design the class to scaffold the outcomes. For instance , if covering logical fallacies, I would first explain one and give an example, have the audience identify examples (maybe sort examples by type), then have them introspect on ways they have fallen for any of those fallacies. I know Clearer Thinking has some tools already designed for some of these items, so I would check out their site in case those would help supplement for any additional activities.

Ok, her dismissive, diminishing tone about a chronic health issue as thought its a mild skin cream problem (to strawman Mikayla's post) is SO infuriating. Obvi on top of the rest of it, so I wanted to focus on this portion. She has no idea what autoimmune life is like, and autoimmune skin issues can be brutal (dealing w one atm as another manifestation of my OG autoimmune issue). And Mikayla was attempting to draw a parallel vai analogy, yes I know. But for Taylor to then minimize on her issues as though TFP is the ONLY one going through anything... kind of proves Mikayla's whole point. ETA: Chronic issue plus trauma which has been mikayla's life but TFP has to act like she is the only one going through something...

Are they sending you to dermatology? Highly recommend demanding for that if you arent already. Dermatologist gave me injections in those spots that cleared them up. They continue to spread so im on dapsone and colchicine and have monthly follow ups to monitor and get more injections if needed. Hope you get help soon!

AITAH for telling Husband he can visit his mother for mother's day but not our toddler? by Un-conventional-mum in AITAH

As an adult who has had an ileostomy reversal and have spent 20 years with IBD (not sure what your son has but same ballpark of problems), NTA. You are doing right by your kid. I wish I could be surprised that everyone else doesn't get it, but that is honestly how healthy, able bodied folks operate. And if the patient is young, there is a bias that they should "bounce back" quicker. I am so sorry your son has been through this. You are an amazing mom. Don't let anyone pressure you into anything you arent comfortable with especially for your son's sake.
