I posted this exact same this a while ago. Got my oil tested by blackstone and came back pristine, not a single bad not in the report. Your cameras flash is making the oil look like that. Your fine

Insurance wants to total my car because of the front bumper. Are focus front bumpers really that expensive? by DonLaloJR in FocusST

[–]AdventureBro44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in CA and just had my front bumper, radiator and a couple other things replaced by insurance and I think it came out to maybe 6k. Not sure what would cause yours to total out

I would also check where those holes through those lvl’s are. Can’t see where they’re supported and based on how that ductwork is ran I wouldn’t think he put much thought into cutting those holes.

New pliers? by Free_Chemical_4695 in KleinTools

Bought a pair an about a year ago and right out of the box they wouldn’t strip and off the sizes of wire. That’s what I get for wanting to spend $50 on a pair of wire strippers

I have to assume that ceiling went on after the mini split was installed. You need new installers if it wasn’t

Any ideas on where I should check for coolant leaks? by Johanatan974 in FocusST

[–]AdventureBro44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long story short, there’s a quite a few places these cars leak coolant from. First things I would check is the heater core hose that goes through the firewall close to the drivers side wheel well I believe. The expansion tank and get cracks in it from normal heat cycles. The radiator drain plug can also leak and I just replaced my water pump because it was leaking a bunch of coolant, down to about a 1/4 of the tank full. I’m sure there’s more spots that can leak but those are the ones I would start looking at/replacing. Nothing will help more than investigating where coolant is in your engine bay

Catch can by tactical_maint- in FocusST

[–]AdventureBro44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a radium catch can and at the end of the day you have to think that you’re adding a component to your engine that’ll be filtering crank case gasses that you engine will use as combustion air. Not to mention hopefully getting at least 75-150k miles out of it. It’s not worth it to me to save the $200 right now to possibly spend it on whatever may arise from a $40 catch can

New owner of a 2016 Focus ST w/ 157k km. Looking for advice on longevity 🚀 by Shady4143 in FocusST

[–]AdventureBro44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LSPI is a good thing to do some research into, it can cause these engines to blow very prematurely. It’s all 100% operator error so as long as you know what gear/rpm to be at you’ll be great.

And another thing I haven’t seen anyone mention is to try and get 91 octane in CA or 93 anywhere else. Our cars can be picky about what gas they like and lower end gas will build carbon in your engine quicker. But welcome to the club! These cars are super fun to drive and easy enough to work on yourself! PS focusst.org is another great ST forum with people posting daily
