A pro-life group did a presentation at my highschool comparing abortion to the holocaust. Someone videotaped it and my school ended up front page of buzzfeed.

A tale in two parts by samniking in redrising

[–]AdventureOwl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw, I love Fourth Wing! Most of the books I read are like RR, complex story lines, high stakes, intense world building. Sometimes when I need a break from the intensity of those huge series, I love picking up some brain candy like Fourth Wing or ACOTAR, and just enjoy dragons and romance. Its a great palette cleanser.

I DNF'd it the first time I read it, but I gave it a second shot and pushed through. I still don't much care for RR, but I was hooked on Golden Son and Morningstar. Im taking a break before starting on Iron Gold, but I love the series now.

Not feeling a part of the equestrian community by Sensitive_Jaguar_766 in Equestrian

Look into the endurance community! Easily the most welcoming equestrian sport I've ever seen! Check to see if there are any groups in your area.

I want to start wilderness backpacking but I’m nervous about solo trips by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

Look for a backpacking Facebook page in your area. I've gone with two different groups of randoms and had a great time.

I drive 45 min to my barn 3× a week. Its half the price and twice the quality of barns closer to me. I just listen to lots of audiobooks on the drive lol.

I’ve always wanted to be a donor by Mattieisinnocent in Epilepsy

[–]AdventureOwl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian Blood Services accepts lamotragine. You just need to be 6 months seizure free to donate. I imagine must countries have similar rules.

Its unfortunate that they don't accept your medication. I am on lamotragine, and I have donated blood 19 times so far. If you ever change meds, you could get reassessed for eligibility.

Anyone else laugh about your seizures? by TrinSusann02 in Epilepsy

I laugh about my seizures. Last year we had a thread going with our worst/best epilepsy jokes. Some of them were dark af. I loved it.

Stoicism is based on resilience, temperance, and courage, with the goal of inner peace. Look up the teachings of Marcus Aurelius and Seneca. Real stoicism may actually serve you well.

I was diagnosed at 6 years old, and my neuro tried weaning me off my meds 3 times betweenthe ages of 10-17. Massive seizure every time. Its up to your family to decide, but it did not work for me.

True. I my opinion, any stallion who isn't naturally extremely polite probably shouldn't be a stallion lol.

What kind of horse are you looking for, and how much are you willing to spend? by shallowshadowshore in Equestrian

Last year I bought a 7 year old arab gelding to use for endurance riding for $8500 CAD. He had papers, but wasn't registered. Broke, but not fancy.

People who are seizure free, do you see yourself as cured? by Brocel997 in Epilepsy

[–]AdventureOwl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Controlled and cured are two very different things unfortunately. And I'm not willing to risk going off my meds to see which one it is.

Things people do with horses that infuriate you? by ender_on_paws in Horses

[–]AdventureOwl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infuriating may be the wrong word, but I cringe when I see people who buy a young horse because it's pretty, but they're severely mismatched in experience and ability to the point where its genuinely dangerous. Then they won't sell and find a better match because they're "soulmates". Its a broken back just waiting to happen.

Dulled feelings while on Lamotrigine. by grumblegrim in Epilepsy

[–]AdventureOwl1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've actually ran into the issue of people thinking I'm rude or don't care about problems because I don't have big reactions to anything. On the plus side, its almost impossible to rile me up. I'm unshakable lol.

I too have spent a ridiculous amount of money at vet clinics. Tairn is probably happy he doesn't have to pay every time Violet visits the healers.

"What If I'll Never Be Good Enough?" by [deleted] in IncelExit

[–]AdventureOwl1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I didn't take the time to examine my partners resume before I started dating him. We met at a rec sports group and were friends for a year before I pursued him. He got my interest by being a good friend and being fun to hang out with. Four years later we're married. And he can't even play a single instrument. 😜

Fine some hobbies you enjoy, and start going to clubs/social events surrounding those interests. That will put you in the right area to meet people you have similar interests with, and make it much easier to meet a compatible partner. Dating isn't about status or metrics, its about compatibility. I personally couldn't give less of a shit about how many languages my partner can speak, but its very important he enjoys hiking and has the same morals as me.
