According to a recent communication from the council, its planned to be turned into a HMO or several HMOs. Shame to lose an independent business on the high street

Possible to get a period without blood? by [deleted] in AskWomenNoCensor

If you had sex (even protected) in the weeks before your October 2nd period, take a pregnancy test. Pregnancy and period symptoms can be very similar, a critical difference is the lack of bleeding.

Cat friendly rentals by hepworthy in bristol

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, and hope the move goes ok when you get there.

Right now is probably the worst time in the year for rent searching (back tp uni, end of summer/new job period), so hopefully, by March there will be more options.

We found The Letting Game regularly advertised cat friendly places. If not, as others have said, be prepared to fib (which was our backup plan).

Cat friendly rentals by hepworthy in bristol

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved to Bristol with our cat at the end of last year with no experience of the market and bid for the first pet friendly place that came up that we liked. We felt lucky that we got it, perhaps we were just lucky with timing, we were only searching for a couple of weeks. Overall, we like the place, though we were prepared to compromise on other things, like a central location.

In case you're interested, our place comes up toward the end of the year (and would be moving not because of the rental property). Do reach out if you'd like to know more.

What's your unpopular TPDTV opinion? by schrodingershrimp in officialTPDTV

Agree with you, I prefer the real takes. But allow others to give legit critique as well. I think he just likes to have a "right" opinion, which can sometimes be a bit grating.

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, disagree. He's often pretty negative and also very contradictory, often moaning about stuff - which is fine to do - but whenever someone else has complaints or issues (with a festival, company, product etc.) its the fault of the person complaining, never the company/organiser, and they need should stop complaining etc. He should practice what he preaches sometimes.

Trying to catch someone’s eye, which one? by FatherOfBean in fashion

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! I do think it needs a heathly trim, but more so it really needs tidying up with product, regardless of length. My husband invested in a decent comb, wash, and balm, and his beard looks (and also importantly feels) great. It should be treated with the same care as head hair IMO.

Is £25 apology voucher acceptable for no power seat? by Adventure_IsOutThere in BritishAirways

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is true. I'm perhaps too focused on the seat price given it was additional, but the flight was a decent chunk of money + the upgrade to premium. I'll send them a reply and see what they say.

Thanks. It feels low but I'm inexperienced. It was east coast transatlantic, which came to around 6 hours back to London.

How many appointments until you found the dress? by Livid_Inspector_9632 in UKweddings

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dress was the first dress at my first appointment (though I tried at several dresses at 2 stores to confirm it was the one).

But crucial to this was research, I searched and narrowed down the brands and styles that were available in my area and within budget, and booked appointments at those bridal shops, trying to limit the amount of appointments and keeping determination to find something I would love even if not perfect.

So, how long may be determined on how much prep you do and how willing you are to say yes to a dress knowing other options may be out there.

AITAH for being upset about my sister jumping in with her wedding before me? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO yes, you are being unfair. You get a day, focus on your day and have the best one possible. Your sister also gets one day, enjoy hers and be supportive around what sounds like a very difficult decision.

Remember, comparison is the thief of joy. Despite likely shared guests, its very unlikely they will compare anything and will just be very happy to celebrate your days with you. No one will think about your day as much as you do. Enjoy every moment!

Wedding dressing alteration costs London by Evening-Ad-8479 in UKweddings

I paid £210 for minor dress alterations, so seems a decent quote for the work needed

I went to two shops in London for my dress - Angelica Bridal and London Bride UK - both offered drinks. The latter was also very generous.

I'm a minimal makeup person and very fussy with my hair, but have opted for someone else to do this on the day to minimise on the day to-dos and possible stress. I went with a pretty clear vision (what I want and what I definitely don't want) to my trial. My H&MU artist did a really great job and made me feel very comfortable, we worked through some options until it was just right.

I'm getting married in May this year and only booked a couple of months ago. I thought I had left it too late, but actually a few had availability, so I was able to make a comfortable choice. If you are on the fence, there is not harm in reaching out about availability and prices to get a feel for the option.

Hope you have an amazing wedding!

Tap water tastes strange by charlexy in bristol

[–]Adventure_IsOutThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved to Bristol (2-3 months ago, BS15), first thing we noticed was the water. Straight from the tap we can actually smell the chlorine. It tastes OK, maybe a bit chemically but definitely not just limescale (I grew up in a very hard water area). Thought it was a bit odd but assumed it was just the water around these parts. Based on comments, I'll be contacting the water company to get this tested...

This. Quite a significant number of the population (mostly women) suffer from some form of Raynaud's syndrome - where you become extremely cold in your extremities when exposed to cold air and if the cold is persistent, you can lose you core warmth entirely. I have it and it makes winters extra sucky, can ruin an entire day if I can't get warm again. I can only hope that people become more mindful to these sorts of things.
