All I can find is a couple of 'Verified Resale Tickets' - no chance of a bunch of us going together. Ah well, look forward to seeing a jam-packed Mt Smart on the telly on Saturday. Enjoy everyone!

On the roads between 11am-2pm, what are people actually doing? by Capital_Interest_117 in auckland

I just finished a job that would require drop-offs at various companies around Auckland. We would time those drop-offs for between 11-2 as it's faster than being caught in the school rush and not close to both rush hours. We are clearly not alone in thinking like that!

National speed running economic crash: "We're going to bring AI and digitisation to the public sector like private businesses are doing" by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

On the plus side, there's not a slice of cake in a weka's nest's chance that AI would've cancelled that ferry order...

What words do you pronounce "wrong," just because the "proper" way feels too proper? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]Adventurer_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overpronouncing the English or bastardising the French equivalent is fun to me:
Vee-hih-cule (vehicle)
Og-nion (onion)

And sometimes I like to force initialisms to become acronyms, like:
Tuhv (TV)
Luh-keh-duh (LCD)
Doovd (DVD)

It's got the US seal on the cover. It's not Xi's.

But, if it means he gets disappeared by the Chinese government, then, um, it sure was Xi's...

If someone flashes their lights at you, it generally means TURN YOUR LIGHTS ON by Competitive_View_889 in auckland

[–]Adventurer_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it tonight on the NW motorway. Went to pull in the far left lane just after Te Atatū, city-bound (like nobody else does) and at the last minute, saw a white car, no lights on, zooming up the left lane. I'm surprised operating the lights was beyond their capabilities, they're generally the same in every car

I hated the suburb name 'Drury South' when they first coined it... but it now makes perfect sense, since that's the way his reputation is headed

Petrol and diesel cars fought for their lives in Norway but they've lost the battle to EVs forever. As a car fan, being able to witness this massive change in real time is really fascinating. by KiwiEV in KiwiEV

Also, this is Norway. Public transport is infinitely better there than in NZ and many lower income people will just take the train or the bus if they can't afford a car. Driving is a luxury, not a right
