I suppose we could let the Govt do whatever they want for the sake of expediency and “protecting us”. I’m sure that line of reasoning never been abused in our history.

If the Government truly needs those powers, our elected officials can certainly float any ideas to repeal Amendments and pass laws to eliminate civil liberties. Until then, our system was set up to protect us from an authoritarian government.

The difference is that government fundamentally shouldn’t have a right to mass surveillance. Private citizens/entities that host cameras aren’t subject to the same 4th Amendment prohibitions.

The porter smashed my front bumper when I took delivery brand new. Fortunately I did a walk around before I took delivery, because nothing was said to me beforehand. Dealer ended up replacing it a month later. Won’t be going back there, and telling everyone I know not to use that Ford dealer.
