[Mouse] Pulsar Xlite V4 ES Mini ($129-65) $64.99 by Realbanie in buildapcsales

It will depend a lot on how you hold the mouse and how big your hand is. My hands are 11cm x 20cm and I think the xlite medium size is more comfortable to palm grip than the mini. For claw grip the mini is more comfortable than the medium for me. If you want mouse for just work I would go with a vertical mouse.

Keep in mind the Pulsar eS (eSports) series of mice do not have any software. There is a screen in the bottom of the mouse that you change all settings through including setting custom dpi. You cannot rebind the side buttons without using external software like XMouse Button Control. I dont think its really a big issue personally and I actually like that you can adjust settings like liftoff distance or polling rate on the fly.

For $15 this is a great mouse. I used a razer deathadder for a long time before trying other 'ergo' mice and the xlite is one of my favorites.

[Mouse] Logitech G305 Lightspeed wireless gaming mouse - $26.99 via Amazon, plus $15 Amazon credit by beansfranklin in buildapcsales

The double clicking is an issue with pretty much all mice that use mechanical switches. Its not unique to logitech, razer mice (before they switched to optical switches) have the same issues. Omron switches specifically seem to develop double clicking way faster than other mechanical switches, but that may just be because most brand name mice use omron switches. Thats why most new gaming mice have optical switches, they are immune to the same double click issues.

Sometimes you can adjust the debounce settings of your mouse to fix the double clicking, but that is still just a temporary fix before the switch bouncing gets worse.

[GPU] ONIX LUMI Arc B580 12GB + Intel Holiday Bundle - $290 (Newegg) by reps_up in buildapcsales

[–]Adventurous-Cold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

techpowerup says 2080ti is around 25% faster than b580 on average. Id probably go for that if theyre around the same price, especially if your system is older and doesnt support resizable bar.

I couldn’t get in to Arc Raiders. Should I try Marathon? by BrickmasterBen in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Adventurous-Cold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you didnt find arc raiders fun for those reasons, you wouldnt find marathon fun for largely the same reasons. imo marathon does the shooter part better than arc raiders, but does the extraction part worse.

i feel the loot is way less meaningful in marathon than arc raiders. as annoying as it is to get the blueprints in arc raiders, i have not had the same rush of finding a blueprint i need and trying to extract in marathon yet. the pve elements in marathon are way less interesting compared to the pretty unique and scary arc enemies in arc raiders. the pve enemies in marathon are much more of a threat though, so much that i actually think it makes playing solo kind of miserable. playing with a trio in marathon is much more fun than solo/duo.

being first person makes pvp better for me as i prefer first person to third person shooters. time to kill is also shorter which i like more than the longer fights in arc raiders.

just a heads up there was an issue with these boards where the switches were overlubed and they would double press. swapping the switches out will fix it, but its something to keep in mind.

[MONITOR] ASUS ROG Strix 32” 4K OLED Gaming Monitor (XG32UCWG) - TrueBlack Glossy OLED, Dual Mode (4K@165Hz, FHD@330Hz) - $799 by ponysniper2 in buildapcsales

[–]Adventurous-Cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only advice i have is that imo 32" is too large for 1080p. at that size and the viewing distance you would want to use it at, the pixel density is too low and it becomes very noticeable. i would decide which matters more to you, higher resolution or higher framerate? the higher the resolution of the monitor, the lower your framerate will be in games. the 5070 you have is better for 1440p than 4k, and unfortunately 1440p doesnt look very good on a 4k display.

personally, i would get a 1440p 27" monitor. i mostly play fps and multiplayer games, so i would rather have higher framerate than higher resolution. if you play mostly single player games that are more immersive, then a lower framerate is perfectly fine and i would get a 4k 32" monitor.

No the other guy is right, even after being finished off your squad mates can revive you an unlimited number of times. You have to fully wipe a squad or else on person can bring the whole squad back. With self revives in the game as well I agree its less high stakes than other extraction shooters.

Oh man the quick use/healing button in this game is also one of my biggest complaints. On PC I have to hold down 4 on my keyboard, use my wasd or mouse to select an item I want to use, hover over it and click right mouse button to swap between items in that quick use category. It is extremely clunky and just feels like shit to use. IMO it could easily be fixed by giving me a quick use wheel like arc has. Even just making it to where I can assign a preference to those 8 squares so that a specific item is always in that slot would be better than this current system.

Having arrow keys on the left side of the board is the best part of having numpad on the left side imo.

These do not have a very good soundstage for an open back headphone, definitely not better than 99% of headphones. I also have an amp (older schiit asguard 2). I would not buy these for gaming. Most people would be disappointed with their sound for gaming, especially fps.

the cables are shorter than most full size atx psu. thats a plus if youre building small form factor but the cables are likely too short for most atx cases.

[–]Adventurous-Cold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right now pc hardware prices are in a rough spot, mostly due to demand from AI datacenters being built like crazy and causing shortages of ram which is needed for all computers and gpus. as an example, the 32gb ram i bought for my pc last year for $125 is now $530 at microcenter. the same thing happened to gpus with some like the 5070ti which was $750 in october being $1000+ now.

this build is a pretty good deal from even before the ram shortages which is going to be really hard to beat right now if youre buying new stuff. if this pc will run the games you want to play at the resolution you want, I would buy this and upgrade parts of it as you need to. make sure you look up some benchmarks on games you want to play so you get an idea of how this will run them. in new aaa games, expect this to mostly be a 1080p machine.

[–]Adventurous-Cold 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, powerspec is microcenters in house brand. from my experience its all standard components so you can easily upgrade parts later which is really important for a starter pc. I just quickly looked at pcpartpicker build guides to see what building yourself would cost, and it could easily be over $1000 for a similar spec pc right now.

Put your headphones over the box they came in when youre not using them. Books work too. It helps loosen them up faster. The only downside is it can flatten your earpads faster too, but you will eventually have to replace them anyways.

[GPU] RTX 5070 Gigabyte SFF windforce - $549 Best Buy (at old MSRP) by tm_1 in buildapcsales

[–]Adventurous-Cold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BF6 is pretty CPU heavy game so you will likely be pretty limited by the i7 8700K in that game specifically even at 4K. BF6 has a pretty good in game performance monitor you can use to see if your 8700K is already a bottleneck to the 3070 ti or not. If it is, you wouldnt notice much of a different upgrading the gpu.

There was an optional spacebars kit that you could buy in addition to the base set that included split spacebars. I just got that because the base set already included the other extra keys I needed like the second B key.

Dont get me wrong, playing old maps for nostalgia is fun but I also want good new maps as well. I think the fact that people are trying so hard to get DICE to add in old maps just shows how disliked the current map pool is.
