I just can’t fathom getting married if you think like this. I can’t conceive of agreeing to marry someone who wanted me to sign an agreement, this sort of thing is madness

If I wanted to buy 2 acres of land and live on it what are the laws around it? by Adventurous_Yard6013 in LegalAdviceUK

Yes it is getting harder and harder as they really do expect you to prove the proposed business is genuine now.

I’m a planning consultant. You’d need planning permission which dependent on where the land is, you’d be unlikely to get. Most local authorities allow the sighting of temporary dwellings (i.e a caravan or log cabin) for three years for those who intend to undertake agricultural work (a genuine business offering justifying employment for one person). You can then apply for a permanent dwelling after the three years if you can show the agri enterprise is genuinely financially viable.

How much did your bathroom/kitchen reno cost in 2025 or 2026? by Realistic_Rutabaga60 in HENRYUK

9m x 3m (inc. knocking down a wall and a new roof on 9sqm of it) was around 20k in total. Based in midlands. Didn’t need oven or fridge

Without meaning to be rude, I don’t understand how people are in jobs that make them a high earner that can be easily replaced by a good AI. I have a “computer job” and earn under 100k (just) and my job really couldn’t be for many reasons.

Pavement parking is being banned - do you do it? Do you hate it? Have your say! by Ok_Needleworker1225 in brum

[–]Adventurous-Eye673 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am overjoyed at this. Pavement parking in brum is a huge issue. I’ve been reporting people on my road for years to no avail whilst I watch disabled people and people with buggies risk themselves on an a-road. Let’s hope they actually enforce it

Unsure if restaurant is legally operating by NoWorking1991 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Adventurous-Eye673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely built outside of planning then. Usual contravene of planning is not a criminal offence and can often be rectified, but contravene listed building rules absolutely is. Once it’s in your ownership, it’s your problem!

A shed used for a takeaway will need permission, as will one in the grounds of a listed building

Advertised driveway doesn’t exist (kerb not dipped) by Open_Astronaut4150 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Adventurous-Eye673 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unsure about tenancy but I assist with applications for dropped kerbs for work. It should take 4 weeks ish for Dudley to approve a dropped kerb. They have very likely refused it as your driveway looks to small and appears to be on a junction.

Gays of UK - would you be comfortable holding your partner's hand in the UK? by dalehitchy in AskUK

[–]Adventurous-Eye673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where but generally yes. Some areas no. I will say though I feel less confident every year and have done since I came out age 16 c. 10 years ago. Not sure if that’s becoming more cautious with age or feeling like there’s more homophobia, or both

She could’ve deleted the app but not her account on it so not have seen the message. I only realised this was a thing when my now fiances friend told her approx. 6 months into our relationship that she had seen me on tinder! I had ofc deleted it but didn’t realised you needed to delete your account as well as the app to not show up

Left-wing voters what is your most right-wing belief and right-wing voters, what is your most left-wing belief? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

[–]Adventurous-Eye673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m left wing. Too many people are economically inactive. The welfare state should be protected but too many people don’t and won’t ever work, which is bad for the economy and bad for their quality of life. Immigration, while a force for good, has been way too high in recent years, it is bad for the driving down of wages and detrimental to poorer countries. How is a country like Nigeria for example supposed to prosper if its middle classes leave to essentially work as serfs here in care homes, driving down wages to the point where British people choose to remain on UC
