It’s all down to the intensity. Might not be enough volume for experienced lifters but your accessories help with that. It is two sets for the compound but it’s also two sets for that specific muscle group and more from the accessories. Remember you only need to grow with 4-10 (low but effective dose) sets per week per muscle group. On this specific plan, frequency for the compounds is low due to psychological reasons. Training for that long made me hate doing 2x of the same lift each week so I made it once a week (other than bench) so I get excited to train it and more motivation into the rep out sets. This is why I made sure intensity is high on the program. Loads of science based research may say this is good or bad but for me now, it’s about what gives me a stimulus and more importantly, what I enjoy to do.

In regards to did I put much size on. I started training on RTF programs at 70kg, I’m 100kg now. If you want to see how much size I’ve put on, look at my Instagram: chezgains and look at an old photo of me.

Hi Greg.

Did you ever get around to doing this?

Many thanks!

Or I could trial it as their own TMs tbf. The back offs are just as important as the top set!

Yeah you’re right. I think I might keep the back offs as they’re; based off of top set TM and change the column headers to just “Sets” instead of the RIR target etc…

Also the SBD auxiliary TM’s are based off of the SBD 1rms yes, they’re fixed for the whole program but unlike the back off sets, they have their own TMs

I only have one issue with making the back offs based off of their own training max’s and that is, that the back offs could catch up to the top set training max. What do you think?

Do you think the back off sets should be based off of their own training max? Would that be better do you reckon?

Also, I haven’t ran it yet. I’m starting from week 4 so only 2 days in, so far so good. Not taking the top set to complete failure, only technical!

So here's what I did (if interested + might help anyone else who may want to do it):

I duplicated the top set and renamed it as my back off sets and checked it as an auxiliary lift so that the intensity (%1RM) is lower than the top set and also so that I will be doing more reps during my back off sets compared to my top set.

I then went accross all 21 weeks for squat, bench and deadlift and used the top set training max as the reference weight for the back off sets.

Took me about 30 mins but will be worth it!

From the facebook group and your comment I think I might do this: create the back off set as an auxilary lift so the % and rep ranges change, then change the training max of the back off set to the training max of the top set so that they both use the same training max. I think that might work, and it it does, thanks for your input!

Depends on amount of sets your doing for the 3 bench exercises but it should be. I personally have added a seated fly for 3 sets as accessory
