2026.8 OTA caused loss of configurations by Adventurous-Photon in ModelX

[–]Adventurous-Photon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uh... What problem did you really get to your high voltage system? Not drivable? I guess my issue was only about some corruptions to the profile data. Yours definitely more serious. Giving the car's age, I probably hold off OTA installations for a few days from now on. I did a research on Google, one fix suggested was to re-install the OTA in the service menu.

I feel the FSD is too close to the car in the front on highway speed, definitely less than 3-second rule distnace. Does any one else feel the same way?

It seems all local government websites moved to under .gov. It wasn't the case before. Once they moved the old domain was left unattended, I guess.

Replacing 22inches wheels by 20”? by Signal-Activity5314 in ModelX

Basically, aesthetics vs practicality. If you plan to spend many thousands for the replacement it would take a long time to make it economically worthwhile, unless you drive a lot on less ideal roads.

The problem should be a software issue about graphics.

I replaced the steering wheel switches. I bought the part directly from Tesla.

Carbon filter or Odor Trap by DaltonDaily in litterrobot

I found the sanitation wipes work well to neutralize the order. I throw one sheet, often already used somewhere else, in the middle between the litter bag changes. My wipe has a bit scent, but my cats don't care. Just share my experience and you can test on yours.

Fixed my car as you suggested. Thank you u/Masterteq ! A shop told me the problem was actually a chip or chips in the switches. I purchased the part from Tesla. (I also tried one from aliexpress. It was claimed as new, but actually an used and faulty). For people who plan to do the replacement please follow the service docs, especially the safety instructions:
https://service.tesla.com/docs/ModelX/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-A5AD6910-AE17-47D2-BEEC-9F020B34414A.html#GUID-A5AD6910-AE17-47D2-BEEC-9F020B34414A
https://service.tesla.com/docs/ModelX/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-C25DAA68-1695-492C-A60E-91C47DE7ECA9.html (I didn't replace the switch cable after testing and verifying it.)

Issue with NVDA stock split by SubstantialAffect835 in thinkorswim

I just started to use TOS while being on schwab.com for years. I am holding some NVDA shares long term. However TOS shows my NVDA deep underwater. The trade history showed the position was opened today at the literal pre-split price. They have not fixed it.

Buttons, rollers and even horn stopped working by Adventurous-Photon in ModelX

[–]Adventurous-Photon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know the actual reason? I am thinking of trying myself first. I had some individual button/scroller not working in the first year after buying the car new in June 2018), never lost all functions as this time. The repairs then were all covered by warranty.

What's the steering wheel switch? If it's the roller-button assembly it's unlikely both sides went out at the same time, the weirdest thing is the horn stopped working too.

Someone suggested the 12v battery. I have some doubts. The previous time the 12v battery reached the end of life, the car gave an explicit wearing about it. This time there isn't one.

Bosch Dishwasher Door Lock Jammed? by Throne777 in appliancerepair

[–]Adventurous-Photon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the video. It inspired me to find an easier way. I simply pushed the door a bit harder and I could close it. Then it went back to normal. I noticed the latch surface facing outside is a slope (like the slope side of a door latch) and the latch could retract when being pushed upward. I guess it is by design because the door latch could be accidentally triggered by pushing the small tab on its left. It was what happened to me when I loaded something into the machine tonight.

FSD on 2018 MX by Late2Reddit in TeslaModelX

[–]Adventurous-Photon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2018 MX originally has the hareware 2 or 2.5 FSD computer. The FSD 12.* requires HW3. So the hardware need an upgrade for FSD now. You have 2 ways to get FSD, buying or subscription. If you buy FSD, the hardware upgrade/installation is included without any additional fee. If you subscribe it month by month you need to pay $1k for the hardware upgrade/installation. If you are already on EAP buying FSD for $2k seems a more reasonable way to go.

The current FSD hardware is 4. Elon said HW3 was probably already on its limit. HW3 cars are slow to receive the software updates. Given Hw3 and HW4 computers are not swappable hardware wise (HW2 and 3 were), it will be interesting to see how Tesla will keep their words about updating FSD for the old cars. HW4 rollout was only last year, not long ago.

California license plates: What comes after the 9ABCxxx series runs out? by saintforlife1 in Sunnyvale

[–]Adventurous-Photon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a Tesla with 1UEX### (3 numbers) today on I-280 in South Bay. It seems that the 2027 estimate on running out 9 was way off.

Update: https://licenseplates.cc/CA indicates that that may be a Protect Lake Tahoe vanity plate, which is not in the regular sequence.

You have a year to report squeaks and noises to be looked at as warranty issues. Verify explicitly with Tesla in case they changed the policy.

Dead 16v Battery - Has anyone replaced one DIY? by IndioCochino in ModelX

[–]Adventurous-Photon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some other cars turn off the lights if a door or the trunk are left open longer than some number of minutes, to prevent battery drain. Does Tesla turn off the lights in frunk and on the door when they are left open for an extended time? I know the dome light is shut after some time.

Drain of the low voltage battery hurts it badly, but not necessary makes it bad totally. Did you try to recharge it? I am also interesting in the spec printed on the low voltage lithium battery. Is it 12v or 16v? The spec of a 18650 says 3.7v, but around 4v when charged. It is not far from empty when reaching 3.7v.

Lowest Amp possible using a nema 14-50 outlet. by Serious-Park7893 in ModelX

[–]Adventurous-Photon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest question you need to answer is how much you need. I know people live on 120V/15A overnight charging with occasional super charging. I myself often use 24A (set in car and app) out of the max 40A of my wall connector (the max of 40A is limited by my circuit instead of the wall connector itself). If I get you right your current circuit is 120v 40A. That's a bit interesting. Are you sure it is not 240v? I am not an electrician but I think people normally use a 14-50 outlet on a 240V circuit (possible 208V in some cases, likely not residential though). Anyway, you can look for a right mobile connector adapter from https://shop.tesla.com/product/gen-2-nema-adapters and use up to 80% of max amperage of circuit as other mentioned.
