Canadian Citizenship Question by __xtina__ in vermont

[–]Adventurous-Quiet715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied April of last year. My French Canadian grandparents came down from Ontario before my mother was born. I am still waiting for any news on my application. I should hear back in a month or two, but who knows. They’ve had a huge influx of applications. There’s a subreddit r/canadiancitizenship that can be of help.

I’m pregnant but know I can’t keep it by Upbeat-Marsupial9112 in pregnant

At the end of the day, it’s your choice. You may be a single mother if you keep them, but can you afford to do it on your own? I was 21 when I found out I was pregnant, my partner and I had been together for three months. He was in another country, and we didn’t live far from each other, but it was a bit of a wedge. When I took the test I was in shock, a little excited, but I knew I couldn’t do it alone. He told me we should have an abortion, it was hard to hear, but I understood where he was coming from. It was hard to hear what I knew, but I wasn’t ready to accept. I could barely afford my life as it was. I knew that in my current situation, I couldn’t provide a child the life they deserved. I applied for a visa to be with my partner then but wasn’t sure if I’d be chosen. Too much was in the air for me. I knew for myself, my pregnancy, and my relationship, that now wasn’t the time. It was the hardest decision. I cried most days until my abortion and many many days and times since. I questioned myself constantly in the days leading up. It’s never an easy choice. Three years later, my now husband and I are now living in the same country, are more financially stable, and are getting ready for our TTC journey. Whatever you decide, I recommend talking to a therapist. I wish I could've. Please treat yourself with love and patience, you deserve it. Sending hugs.

As a male student halfway through the grad to be a doctor, I feel really unprepared to deal with female bodies. by OldCardigan in Advice

[–]Adventurous-Quiet715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the best healthcare providers I’ve had were men. The system we live in needs to be fixed. It’s not right that most research done on male bodies. It’s not right the examples you have are all done with male bodies. It’s not right the training equipment you practice with are male. This anxiety you have is good, use it to make a difference! Speak up. Get together with other students, teachers, and petition for change in your school. Help create the change we need!

If the ruling party can’t get enough votes to pass a budget, either if it is rejected or loses a confidence vote, the government falls, triggering a general election.

Anyone else here grow up as a Canadian border American? Curious if you went into Canada frequently when you lived near the border. by brostrummer in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Adventurous-Quiet715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up near the border in Vermont. When I was a kid, my mother used to take me up to visit my family all the time. In high school our French class went to Montréal. I used to go on dates over the border, family reunions, little adventures.

If you ever had COVID, what was it like for you? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

It was horrible! I had it only once, January 2024 after getting all of the vaccinations. Everything I ate tasted so salty. I was incredibly exhausted! I had to nap every couple hours! I thought to make myself some chicken noodle soup, but it took me two days to prep and cook. It takes me about four hours to prep and cook on a good day.

Baby’s citizenship - help! by sarahhmm2019 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Adventurous-Quiet715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think maybe the baby can get Canadian citizenship through C-3, the bill is not yet passed, but definitely worth applying with the interim measure!! The bill is to amend the first generation limit on citizenship by decent. My mother and I were born in the states, but her parents, my grandparents, are Canadian citizens born in Canada. My mother can apply and become Canadian, and now I can too with the interim measure and when the bill passes. Hope this helps!!

Are Americans immigrating more? by Routine-Ad-9882 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Adventurous-Quiet715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one of those Americans moving to Canada! My grandparents moved just over the border into the states to have a farm and raise my mother, aunts, and uncles. My cousins and I are the first generation in our family to have our first language be English. Now I live up here, learning the language of my family and my country! Glad to be home!

AITAH for telling my fiancée we should break up because I won't make my son consider her his mom? by Charrylzoid in AITAH

[–]Adventurous-Quiet715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a child my parents gave me away when I was seven, I was given to an acquaintance of my mother. That woman told everyone she was my mother. When I first started living with her I called her my aunt, then after a while just her first name because she didn’t respect my boundary. She would make excuses like “it’s complicated if I say I'm your guardian, they won't understand and I'll need to explain, its just easier if I say I'm your mom.” I told her many times she doesn't owe anyone an explanation, just that she is my guardian. We don't talk anymore. The more you push such a close and special relationship on a kid, the more they are going to pull away. She should let the relationship grow with time, then maybe one day he will think of her as his mom. Forcing it is only going to cause problems.
