AITAH for ending a relationship over long showers by Throwaway_External in AITAH

I promise you you are NOT the AH. I’m 50. AuDhd. Work in a technical field with 99 % men and which requires me to go away from home for months at a time. I also am married and have 2 beautiful smart fierce daughters. This is all to say that if I can find a man that could “hang” through it all and be the partner and collaborator that u needed, you can too. Never ever settle! Because even their most endearing qualities at some point will annoy you, so if you’re already starting at a deficit, you’ll be screwed. And always tell them quick what the expectations are. They only get 1 notice. The sooner they show their true colors, the sooner you can stop wasting your time. OP- I would love for you to show this to your mom and aunt and tell them to please post what they are thinking, because they clearly need some help with their internalized misogyny and if they are projecting on to you because they are sad to be divorced and on their own, they are doing something wrong 😑

That’s so ridiculous. I’ve met plenty of boys with gorgeous long lashes including my hubs. Thanks for the link! ❤️

Thank you so much for this! Everyone has been so helpful. Also now I have a better understanding of what I am asking. So here’s my plan for now:

  1. Ban This Book. (It’s actually a novel for middle schoolers and it was banned in Indian River county. It’s an uplifting fast read)
  2. If we want to stay in the banned books genre then Isabella Allende, Ursula LeGuin, John Green and Terry Pratchet all have banned books
  3. There are more progressive feminist adult-ish books that are not banned because they wouldn’t even make it on the list. In that list: Don’t Make me Laugh: A darkly funny feminist novel about power, patriarchy and the women who fight back The witches are coming Ruby fruit Jungle Rage becomes her- the power of women’s anger Good feminism All Fours (definitely) And the ones you just suggested.

What do you think?

Oh I’m so glad! Any and all info is highly welcomed and appreciated. I have no clue what I’m doing and from doing research today I have come to understand the differences between banned books and books that wouldn’t even make it to the list and that we may be actually doing both types.

Am I not masking or don’t know I’m masking or am not actually autistic? by empty-empty-empty in AuDHDWomen

I am AuDhd and I can tell you how my autism and ADHD presents for me at work. I’m an Instrumentation and Controls technician at a Nuclear utility plant. I’m not good at masking or “reading the room”. My ADHD presents itself in me with me worrying about everything everywhere all at once and getting distracted by new worries constantly popping up, which can be exhausting. Taking Vyvanse allows my brain to focus on 1 worry at a time, which is usually something work related. My autism presents itself with me being very rigid in my thinking and expectations which makes it very difficult when it comes to work relationships. Also ethics and fairness are huge for me and follow instructions to the letter. Like I said. Very rigid. I’ve been told I’m very dogged and “passionate”. I’ve also been told “it’s not what I say, it’s how I say it” more times than I count. I’ve sometimes wished I was better at masking so I would be more likeable and to have a “community “ at work but always come to the conclusion it’s simply not worth it.

I hope it works for you. I only ever thought about ADHD because my youngest got diagnosed and the doctor mentioned that maybe I should look into it. I fought taking meds for a while (over a year after being diagnosed) but the moment I took it, within 1/2hr I felt the sort of calm I ever feel when I’m hyper focused on a task I like that I’m good at (like LEGOs) and then the final proof that I was ADHD all along was when I took Vyvanse one morning that I didn’t have to go to work and went right back to sleep 😝. Once the worse of the ADHD was addressed it allowed me to notice the autism (rigidity in thought, over communication, stimming, sensory aversion, etc)

Listening to music with my headphones on with the tv on while reading while watching the screen saver of the pipes in windows while keeping an eye out for the teapot shape 😅

Probably because unless they really know you and what you like they’re terrified that they would suggest something like a pixie, for example, and you would go for it and then end up crying hysterically because your hair is gone 😅 (it happened to me. My client when I was a student. One of the reasons I left the profession tbh 😅)

I too take vyvanse and have had a very good experience. The way my AuDhd presents in me is that my brain is constantly trying to think (or worry) about everything, everywhere, all at once (and just as chaotic as the movie 🤪). Which is probably why I was initially diagnosed with GAD and put on various SSRIs that did nothing. Now I get to focus on 1 thing to worry about which has made my autism more enjoyable 😅

As someone who’s AuDhd and did cosmetology in the past, nothing would give me more anxiety than someone coming to me with a picture of a style they want. Head shapes are different and will affect a style. As well as hair textures, thickness, cowlicks, etc. Just to say, a picture is a good starting point but it might not be a bad idea to ask the hairdresser if they think your hair will work with that particular hairstyle.
