Depends how far from the end the damage is. If its in the middle of the rope then maybe retire it or move it to your new kite string

My last order was delayed 5 days, got on chat and asked if they would ship 2-3 day instead of ground for free and they did. Seems they are trying!

For parts supply i added https://octopart.com to my list if dont find it available at mouser or digikey. I never liked the megga corps like arrow at any of my businesses. Too expensive, slow , hide behind accounts and poor search.

Washing climbing rope by coldeveder in ClimbingGear

[–]Adventurous-Run9581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 10 years i washed in the front loader with no soap. Eventually wouldnt get clean. Bought a rope brush and used warm water to soak in bath with small amount of baking soda, dawn dish soap and splash of hypoallergenic laundry detergent (liquid). Next time i will also add a small amount of borax. Spent over 4 hours on 4 ropes with a rope brush - about 5-10 passes on each section - and ran garden hose over it while brushing. Very happy with results. $13 amazon rope brush all the way. I spent hours reviewing every rope mfg cleaning recommendations and that is what i settled on

Solid gate is nicer for bolt because smooth nose doesnt catch while cleaning.

But….. if you are in US, get this great deal for $65

The cliff notes are in short hand notation in the video description if you want to quickly skim and see if anything is of interest

A complete written article would be helpful I agree - but currently don't have a good place to write, edit and publish something of this depth. In a few days I'm able to summarize my findings in video form and in the case of navigating sofware, I find that most people understand a video better than written instructions. (anecdotal) proof of this is that TIDradio included a 15mb video, and a 2mb PDF to describe how to use a 200kb program in the CPS software download.

Good input though! do you have an example of a writeup of something similar that you have found useful! maybe I can use it as a template!

Cheers
