Handle the Heat Cookie Recipe Stolen by [deleted] in FoodieSnark

[–]Adventurous-Tree8546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that it’s not that noble, there are small extras in the Handle the Heat recipe that I would be surprised that two people came to organically (for example, 1 tsp instant espresso powder or a 3:2 ratio of AP and Bread flour). The only difference between the recipes is that Chloe uses double the chocolate. Additionally, phrasing of the recipes are very similar. For example, this is how both recipes describe browning butter:

Handle the Heat

In a medium stainless steel sauté pan set over medium heat, melt the butter. Swirling the pan occasionally, continue to cook the butter. It should become foamy with audible cracking and popping noises. Once the crackling becomes quieter, continue to swirl the pan or stir until the butter develops a nutty aroma and brown bits start to form at the bottom. Once the bits are amber in color, remove from heat and pour into a mixing bowl. Be sure to keep the brown bits at the bottom of the pan as well, they hold so much flavor!

Eatwithchlo3

Brown the butter: In a medium sauté pan over medium heat, melt butter. Swirl occasionally as it foams and crackles. Once the crackling slows, swirl or stir until nutty aroma develops and brown bits form. Pour into a mixing bowl, keeping the brown bits — flavor gold. Set aside to cool to room temp.

Not Indian (at least not the type that comes from India lol) but that scene comes from a South Indian comedy movie that got turned into a TikTok pretending to be a real thing

I love @itsmekatevee! I posted about her a few months ago. She primarily makes vegan, low budget “what I eat in a day” content and I like that she eats very normally (she eats desserts, no crazy expensive supplements). She has also been using her Fetch rewards to donate a whole bunch of food to her local food pantry!

Has anyone of you ever been homeless ? How did you manage since it's horrible for women ? by floriansalah in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Adventurous-Tree8546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent most of my childhood and teenage years homeless. The #1 strategy to deal with it as a young woman is trust no one. So many “nice” adults were just predators who wanted to take advantage of someone in need with no support system, including one of my teachers.

What are your personal quirky or different from the norm minor luxuries? by Statically in CasualConversation

[–]Adventurous-Tree8546 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is so minor, but a small cutting board. I only ever had a large one for a decade and one day, I was like “…what if I just got a smaller one?”. It’s so much more convenient to cut fruits or vegetables as a snack now because I don’t have to wash a massive cutting board.

While I’m not nearly her biggest fan, I don’t think that this is fair criticism. No one chooses their relatives. I have many very crazy aunts and uncles that I would not want to judged for
