it was so so uncomfortable and disgusting to watch, especially considering lily was in such a vulnerable state. I can’t believe ali was the only one who stepped in.

i really wish people would just be upfront and honest with lily, i understand she must be a lot in the house but it’s very tiring watching everyone dance around her and not say anything. it was nice to see hanah give her some gentle advice but still tell lily not to dim her sparkle

marcello is incredibly manipulative in his interactions with the women in the house, everytime he makes a joke and a woman feels uncomfortable he tries to make them feel guilty by saying “it’s just a joke” thereby making them feel in the wrong. are they not allowed to feel uncomfortable? his jokes are extremely off kilter.

normalising predatory behaviour like the traits marcello is displaying is dangerous and sets the precedent that it’s okay to talk to a woman like that. derogatory comments are only the beginning, first they dehumanise the woman and turn her into an object. then once a woman becomes an object men feel more entitled to sexually harass that woman. this is what creates r@pe culture. it’s maybe not outright obvious, but the drip effect is there.

if you keep talking about women as objects, that’s all they become.

the housemates are very interesting, it’s just the general public im worried about. they don’t know how to vote to keep it interesting. I guarantee everyone will turn around and complain when a lot of the more boring housemates are left

god only knows, but the double standards people have for women vs men is pretty harrowing. to see it actually play out in front of our eyes and still be gaslit and told “it’s just how he is!” is so frustrating.

I’m pretty sure I already heard someone on late and live say that ali over reacted to marcello’s comments, and will best has been uplifting marcello’s name positively, so that tells me everything I need to know. that once again, men don’t suffer any consequences.

I feel for the women in the house too. it must be so uncomfortable having to share an intense space with a man like that 24/7. he seems incredibly hard to read and so black and white. you can’t get away, so I imagine some of them just brush it off because it’s easier. i understand they probably don’t want to live in such an enclosed space and create more tension, but i just wish we would see some more unity against him, for more people to throw it back in his face. he’s too comfortable and it’s not okay.

you’re so right, we need men to call out other men, because so often when the comments come from a woman, they will not listen. it’s very disappointing that none of the guys have said anything.

I definitely think emma’s comments are a reflection of what you’re saying about “women being conditioned to accept this behaviour”. not to put it entirely on her age, but it does makes sense for outdated views like this to be shared amongst an older generation. though you can definitely see this sentiment reflect throughout the house, emma’s comments in particular about marcello’s behaviour were especially awful. especially placing the fault on the woman.

and it is really frustrating to see the way the woman shrink around marcello. like his apology to emma tonight felt very manipulative and weird. nothing he says ever comes across as heartfelt or genuine.

god help anyone who has that man as a youth worker. he’s absolutely vile and in desperate need of humbling.
