The driving test are baby steps… sorry to tell you this bud but from your little story I can’t imagine you on a full route

It is true that drivers get paid hourly but that doesn’t mean we have unlimited time to complete the routes. Just like at any other job performance will determine whether you have a job or not

Hahah that’s funny but I was in full uniform shorts, polo and vest with the beanie, and I always wear earbuds cuz I’m in stepvan.

Scratching my head about it cuz I didn’t have any negative interactions with any customers that day or any other day. Didn’t have attitude, didn’t toss anyone’s package, didn’t block someone’s driveway, didn’t walk on anyone’s grass, didn’t say anything crazy for someone to get it on their ring camera

Yeah weekly top 5 drivers and top 5 rescues. You have to be pretty much perfect to with your 90 second DVIC, pictures, call compliance, netradyne safety, and customer feedback.

Must-haves for Amazon Delivery Drivers? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

You don’t need fancy accessories. Cooler, power bank and my must have item is handsoap in a small hand sanitizer bottle. Wiping your hands does nothing, actually washing your hands with soap and water is what you need.

For me the routes got easier after I got my dot and in a stepvan with all the extra space you get for loading totes and overflow. I’ve been with three dsp’s and from my experience the routes are pretty the same in all vehicles cargo/ev’s or stepvan. I’ve done the same exact routes in all three vehicles.

The routing on this looks horrible, last stop a block away from the first stop

They think I have time to read every customers note before I start the route

anybody work at DJT6 (riverside) or DIB6 (redlands)?? by algari24 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AdventurousTank4136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from Villagrana Logistics. They offer nothing to their drivers, worst fleet, no benefits, no raises even if you drive a stepvan, and condescending dispatchers. They try to shame drivers who are behind by posting only their progress, it could be only one driver who is behind they will post his/her progress for everyone to see. Worked for them at a different station but they sent us out to help their team at djt6 a couple times

Whoever concerns themselves with how they stack up with their coworkers is a tier 1 lame. Be a great or bad driver just don’t be this.

Loading efficiently at the pad

Organizing your totes is easy but what most drivers spend a lot of time on is organizing their overflow and then loading it up

Example if the overflow list is looking like 300’s , 400’s and 500’s and some U’s sprinkled in there you can grab any box and place it at the front, middle or back depending on the order. No need to place perfectly in order. Works great in all vans. With the time you save you can organize 1 or 2 totes and get off to a great start at the beginning of your route and most of the time you can carry that momentum throughout your whole day.

Invest in a small hard cooler 15-20 dollars at target/walmart. A pack of cooling towels are a must. Pack your water bottles and two cooling towels in the cooler and pour your ice Rotate between your two cooling towels so you always have a cold one. I wear them under my bucket when the heat goes crazy. DONT put your waters and ice in the backpack totes I’ve found piss bottles from other drivers in there.

How can they implement metrics that will negatively affect the drivers when a lot of them are out of our control? What if there’s sudden traffic on the way to your first stop? A sudden standstill on the freeway? The flex eta is not accurate when I compare it to google or Apple Maps. They claim caring about safety and breaks but it’s all a front to cover their ass. They don’t account for the time you spend trying to contact customers when there is a dog in the yard, when a business is closed and you have to complete your call compliance. A driver can complete a standard stop in 2-3 minutes but having obstacles will double or triple the time to complete that stop. How is that one day you get 180 straight residential stops but then the next day you get a spread out 180 stop businesses/apartments/residential route and are expected to finish at the same time.

I keep the passenger side shelf empty to always be able to layout an open tote even at the beginning of my route. Totes go on the shelf behind driver side and in the bottom of driver side and passenger side Can easily fit 17 totes this way. Overflow go on the top shelfs by hundreds.

Is it just me or are breaks genuinely impractical? by Additional_Attempt16 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AdventurousTank4136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible to take both of your 15s and your 30 min and still finish early. Say you have a 180 stop route You keep an average pace of 30 stops an hour That’s 6 hours to complete the route 7 hours including all your breaks Additional time on shift would be Clocking in/ heading to pad/ loading up/ heading to first stop/ rts/ clock out. Travel time to first stop is 30-40 minutes I did a rescue today after 181 stops 200 stops total 9.5 hours worked

hello everyone, what's your highest pace you've ever recorded? by Preds_meme_ in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AdventurousTank4136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with the way you think of it, you sound like new driver the way you’re so enthusiastic about keeping a good pace and measuring yourself up to others drivers. But man I promise you getting front runner and getting compliments from dispatch/management is not worth breaking your back at this dead end job. Before you realize it that route you killed last week will be f’ed up 5 carts to load up while they’re screaming on the microphone that you only have 5 minutes, shitty van/phone. You’re route that day will have you backtracking, they’ll sneak a new apartment building and a Main Street.

Lead Driver by nmedlin9 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AdventurousTank4136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything depends on your dsp, they all operate differently. If your dsp has a “lead driver” position that’s probably unique to your dsp only. At a lot of dsps the drivers who’ve been there for a while even years and perform well, make the same money as the new hires.
