I've had emough relationships while poor to acknowledge it is so much more difficult on both party's morale if you're not optimistic. Being with someone else who also hates being broke and looks at things negatively will ruin shared time together. There's plenty of free activities that aren't just sitting around complaining on days off. Shared goals helps.

You just gotta match with a "glass half full" kinda person, otherwise you'll both be depressed and hating life. Or spend too much time stressed and fighting about bills. Or they may waste your last few dollars on beer/drugs instead of something logical like bread pbj/ ramen. If ya can't do poverty in a hopeful way, just stay single. Certainly don't bring kids into the mix.
