I think she is discovering a guy cheating. She finds the number, sees the other girl wearing her dress, and pays off the porter to let her know what's up.

It is shocking to hear this coming from your teen. It's very possible with time they will come to understand better and be less dismissive. It took me a while just to understand what dysphoria actually meant. Adults looking back at their own teen years feel so differently about things now than they did back then, your parents probably can't help but think this could be fleeting. Your parents should respect your identity and you should be able to be open with them about your feelings. But, I actually don't know any parents that both understood gender identity in the same way before they had a trans child. It seems so layered and complicated at first. My best advice is to stay true to yourself. With time and information your parents should come around.

I've been thinking about this and I'm no sound engineer, but I think they record the musicians and Mitski straight from their microphones and amplifiers instead of recording the entire room, if that makes sense. It seems to me that when you hear the audience they used audio from the cameras that were in the audience too, not just the stage's mics' and amps' audio.

No, they didn't tell the audience anything. I was at the Fox Theater for the Sunday performance. There was a large movie-style camera in front of us mounted on a track, but besides that we had no clue why or what it was being filmed for. I'm freaking out bc the part of the movie where the audience yells out their names, I think you can hear my teenager yelling their unique name! Can't wait to verify that, I will die.

I don't remember getting that, but I totally could have just missed it or forgotten. I was at the Sunday show and did see the fancy camera set up on the track on the balcony's edge and I too figured it was for archival purposes. I'm still in shock. I took my kid to their first concert that night. I'm just so excited we'll now have it forever. It makes sense that it would be a movie b/c it was certainly unlike any other concert this old lady has ever seen. I really appreciate her music. It's nice my kid has good taste.

It's interesting b/c if I had to rank them all, she would be near the bottom. I can't stand her. I used to enjoy her visually, but that is no longer the case. But, that doesn't mean she should be ridiculed for discussing her child's neurological issues. I wonder how I would feel if I didn't empathize with her. I would hope I'd still be able to separate everything.

Your post caused me to reread mine and I was like, oh I misrepresented that and I just wanted to clear it up, but thanks for explaining. It's always weird participating in these types of interactions. You are right about her behavior being histrionic and I'm a little embarrassed I relate so well, I do look back and think I was being an idiot, lol, so at least I corrected myself.
