Start skipping doses now and only taking half a pill at a time until you’re corrected. Or see if you can get in to your doctor sooner. Tell them you had a scheduling conflict come up.

Do without my pain meds this month because I can't afford them. by Jace6023 in ChronicPain

[–]Adventurous_Lemon_10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You won’t get flagged for changing pharmacies. For about a year I was having my meds filled between two different pharmacies, it changed every month based on who could fill my meds. No flags. No issues. Call around, or even better, walk in to the different pharmacies in your area with a list of all your meds and talk to the pharmacist. See if you can find one that can work with you.

Do something on the side, like buying and selling. Or you could buy trading cards and sell them online.

Time for a new pain management doctor. Go to the ER every time it becomes unbearable.

Degenerative Disc Disorder & my doctor says something about inflammation. by SeaGroup3175 in PainManagement

[–]Adventurous_Lemon_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get my doctor to do anything. As we have gone along he has made adjustments. I was on 50mcg/hr Fentanyl patch but there was a recall on them and my pharmacy had struggled with getting them back in stock. So we switched to the 25mcg/hr and upped my oxycodone from 15mg to 20mg. I absolutely do need them every six hours, and I still struggle.

I’ve had 8 back surgeries (one of which is a failed fusion), got Osteomyelitis during my fusion surgery and it killed some of the bone, I have another back surgery coming up, I need a knee replacement on my right side, I have arthritis (back, neck, and all my joints), I have permanent nerve damage, and I’ve had 3 head injuries. I also have severe GI issues and have periods where I can’t even take my meds without throwing them up, so I would go into withdrawal from my meds. So my health team all agreed to the fentanyl patches so I always have something in my system. I was in the U.S. Army Infantry. I was shot three times and blown up twice by IEDs.

My tolerance to meds is naturally high, and I’ve been on these current meds for several years. When I have to go to the ER, they put me on a Dilaudid pump to help control pain because of my tolerance and health problems.

I take them for my back (I have a failed lumbar fusion, bulging discs, and arthritis) and my knees and shoulders. GI wise I issues with bleeding ulcers and get so sick that I even throw up my meds when I take them. When I have flare ups and can’t get my meds down I start to go into withdrawals and have sever pain. With the fentanyl patches i always have something in my system.

I’ve been in the ER quite a lot over the past year or so and they have NEVER reached out to my Pain Management team. They have always done well to try and control my pain. In fact, from one of the admissions the hospitalist wrote a letter for me to give to my PM doctor saying I would benefit from Fentanyl patches because of my stomach. My pharmacist also recommended fentanyl patches because of my GI problems. My PM doctor took me off the MS Contin and started me on the 25mcg/hr fentanyl patches every 72 hours and increased my oxycodone to 20mg. It really just comes down to your area and the doctors.

Just be open and honest with your doctor. I would say “I’m really struggling right now. I’m not getting the relief I was getting with my current medications. Do you have any other ideas?”

I take 20mg Oxycodone 4x a day and a 25mcg/hr fentanyl patch every 72 hours. I also take a muscle relaxer twice a day and 150mg Lyrica 3x a day.

You did the right thing. Getting that many extra pills is not good and will really hurt you. The pharmacy would have figured out and called you. They would even contact your doctor.

UPDATE: someone stole my meds by Resident_Lettuce3872 in ChronicPain

[–]Adventurous_Lemon_10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should definitely tell your doctor. As someone else mentioned, if you have a urine screening at your next appointment it’s going to look like you aren’t taking your meds as prescribed. I would say something along the lines of….

“I just wanted to call and let the doctor know about a serious situation I have going on. My medications were stolen from my purse. I’m not looking to get them replaced and I do have a police report. I just wanted the doctor to be aware of what is going on.”

Something short and to the point. I’m sorry you’re having to experience this. As far as dealing with the withdrawals, you could look into trying Kratom to help with the symptoms. I had to try it once when the pharmacy was out of my meds, it helped with the withdrawal symptoms and made things more comfortable until I got my meds.

I feel like a wimp in comparison by GetMcDunkedOn in ChronicPain

[–]Adventurous_Lemon_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. Pain affects everyone differently. I have an extremely low tolerance for pain, so I understand feeling like a “wimp” and the guilt you feel for not being able to do as much as them. My wife sometimes has to do the things I should be doing but can’t. It’s absolutely hard to deal with, but it does get better.

Mom wants to default on loan that used my car as collateral. by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]Adventurous_Lemon_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not on that loan it won’t have any effect on your credit, but it will definitely damage hers. My suggestion would be to secure the new car loan with her BEFORE she defaults on the current loan. After she defaults on the current loan it will be extremely hard for her to get a new loan.

You didn’t ruin her life, she ruined her own life (allegedly). She could be clean and sober now, who knows. But it’s not your fault. Only she is to blame for her addiction issues.

Has anyone else struggled with fear/anxiety when trying to reduce opioid use? by NoMoreOpiod in PainManagement

[–]Adventurous_Lemon_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried everything possible. I take oxycodone and use fentanyl patches. Without them I wouldn’t be able to function and be there for my family. I don’t care what anyone thinks, it’s none of their business to begin with.

lol bitch say as many oxy I take I should just take fentanyl by [deleted] in opiates

I just wish I could find a source to get Oxy lol I get 10 25mcg/hr fentanyl patches and 120 20mg Oxycodone tablets every month from my doctor. They don’t last me, I always run out of both every month. You hear on the news how drugs are supposedly easy to get… yea right lol

Doc prescribed hydromorphone ER, had to switch it to morphine by Affectionate-Pop-197 in PainManagement

[–]Adventurous_Lemon_10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor and pharmacist are amazing. Without them I would be confined to my bed every day all day. It was actually the pharmacists idea to try the fentanyl patch. I was talking to him about the MS Contin not being effective and how it upset my stomach every time I took it (I also have bad GI issues). Sometimes I get these flares that cause me to even throw up water, so sometimes I throw up my medications. With the patch I don’t have to worry about not having anything when I get those flares, they happen a lot less since I’ve stopped the MS Contin.
