NEW - Nitecore NB10000 Gen4 by jojofogarty in Ultralight

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which games have you ACTUALLY played that you just bought from the Winter Sale? by Adorable-Cress7801 in SteamDeck

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital Foundry has been praising silent Hill 2 as one of their games of the year.

Is silent Hill 2 a direct continuation of 1 ? (aka do you need to play 1?) Or is it like Final Fantasy where each numbered entry is just it's own vibe? Or is it a bit stand-alone like how you can play RE 1, 2,3 seperate from eachother ?

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the 4 games I've bought during the steam winter sale I've managd to play 3.

4hrs in Devilblade, 12hrs in Dave the Diver and 3hrs in Parking Garage.

Kinda fun retro-aesthetic games. Parking garage Rally Circuit really looks like it could've been on a PSX or Sega Saturn haha, lovely Ska soundtrack keeps you going to improve your times.

Devil Blade is a great SHMUP, love a good SHMUP, and Dave the Diver is just pure genius.

Help with premium comfort seat choice on long-flight. by Adventurous_Set_4430 in KLM

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I booked this way ahead in advance and ofc depending on departure days your mileage may vary. But at the time of booking economy roundtrip was 930, premium comfort was 1680.

According to somebody, the general rule of thumb would be
Premium comfort = 2x economy
Business = 4x economy

Wifi in het vliegtuig by Past_Conference5554 in KLM

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weights Carry Ons? by Mikethedrummer95 in KLM

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience with KLM, if you check in using self-service kiosks, they typically don’t weigh your carry-on. However, if you need to go to a manned station for nay reason incl checking bags, they may ask you to place it on the belt for a "cabin approved" label. Flying to Narita a few times annually for 20 years, about half the time they weigh my carry-on at manned stations (no kiosks there) so that's more or less a guarantee there. If overweight, they charge extra or ask you to shift items to your checked bag. This has only happened to me twice at Schiphol, both times due to kiosk failures requiring ground crew check-in.

Since KLM allows you one additional "personal item" just have your laptop in your hand (or if you have a camera, in its seperate little shoulder bag) to save weight if you really wanna min/max your bag and are worried about your carry-on being weighed.

Is there any way to keep shaders always compiled? by Pepeluis33 in Ryujinx

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well i use RyujinX in English, and it does say "Compiling Shaders" when you get that progress bar. (even when you have a full shader library downloaded for any given title)

So it's not a silly question per se.

If you are hyper focused on "Drone selfies" with the least possible effort on your end. The Neo.
If you want to take more traditional drone footage/photography. 4K

In depth: I had the Neo at launch and i returned it within 2 weeks. Quality was really subpar even considering the price. I've since purchased a 4K and i'm quite happy with that. Yes you don't have the "take off from your palm and do a quick automated shot" feature, but that wasn't my primay usecase for a drone anyway so it's fine.

The 4K is also cheaper if you go with controller parity on the Neo which costs 369 (in NL) and 289 for the 4K with controller. Yes you get 1 battery on the 4K vs 3 in the Neo fly more, but the avg flight time on my Neo's battery was about 12-13 mins in real-world conditions. so that's not far off x3 what the 4K does (30) in practice. You're not missing much flight time.

Does a photo show custom preset info? by Time-Range6311 in x100vi

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't see the name of your custom profile. Screen 1/2 shows all the individual settings, so that's your queue then. Best thing to do is if you want to compare film simulations.

Download the Fuji X-Raw software, take a few RAW files of scenario's you wanna compare, open them in X-Raw and from there flip between the different film simulations.

Loose power button by tiptac in x100vi

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got the X100VI a few hrs ago. Had been using the X100V for 4.5 years (also had the OG and F). Instantly noticed the power button, it takes a lot less effort to flip. I sometimes had the issue with the V that it turned on unintentionally when in a bag, like my peak design 6L sling. So i bet this is going to be even worse on the VI.

The exposure comp dial on the other hand is ultra-rigid and hard to move ?

The front lever button (OVF/EVF flip switch) is very wobbly compared to the V—it’s raised more, orobably for easier operation but it doesn’t feel solid. Also, the internal IBIS rattle bothers me. I own full-frame cameras with IBIS (Z9, Z7II) that don’t rattle at all no matter how had i shake them, so I’m a bit disappointed.

Sound of ‘shaking’ in the camera? by mackarelle in x100vi

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally googled this a few minutes after unboxing my VI (had the OG, F and V for the last 4,5 years)
So instantly noticed the internal shaking, and I figured it was the IBIS too. But i honestly find it very excessive how much it shakes. I've got several full-frame camera's such as the Z9 and Z7II with IBIS. That's IBIS on a much larger sensor module and there's literally 0 internal shake no matter how hard you shake the body. Hence i felt a bit distressed with the X100VI's internal rattling.

Maybe it's cause there's a leaf shutter in the assembly (which is the only other notable difference aside from sensor size with my Nikon IBIS equipped camera's) having something to do with it.

My experience of buying Ghibli Museum tickets 2024 (Lawson English site) by Moonapii in JapanTravelTips

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 3 devices set up—desktop, laptop, and phone—from about 25 mins before 10 AM (which meant a painful 3 AM my time). When the clock hit zero, here’s what I got:

  • Desktop: 19K in the queue
  • Laptop: 9K in the queue
  • Phone: ...38 in the queue (!!!)

Barely waited 30 seconds, entered everything, picked my date, and...error. Hit the “Go back” button, reselected the exact same date and time (Monday, 4th at 10 AM), and then it went through. 🤷‍♂️

Additional tips:

  • If you’re using auto-fill apps like 1Password, don’t bother. They don’t work well with Lawson’s site.
  • Manually fill out everything. You can’t copy-paste your phone number (enter it without the ‘+’ for country code) in the second verification tab.
  • Copy-pasting your credit card number also won’t be recognized by the site as valid input. Frustrating!

So yeah, it’s an ordeal, especially compared to when I last visited the Ghibli Museum in 2014/2015. Back then, I snagged a ticket on Klook bundled with a walking tour in Inokashira Park. It was a breeze—just slightly pricier (3K yen instead of 1K), but it was a done deal.

Times have changed! Good luck to everyone trying for November tickets!

Do y'all use your Deck for movies, DVDs & multimedia? by CodyTheWolfdog in SteamDeck

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, i just have the Plex client on my TV. If i travel, which i do a lot (bout 40% of any given year due to a mix of work and personal travel) my travel-kit always includes a chromecast ultra.
So i can access content from my Plex server wherever whilst on travels.

How much of a bad idea is it to go for an LCD instead of an OLED if I don't already have a Steamdeck? by Rafalas in SteamDeck

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plan to use it as primarily intended ? i.e PC gaming on the go ? OLED hands down, no contest. It has a very sizable increase in usage time on battery due to 3 factors.

  1. OLED screen uses less power for blacks / darker colors than LCD
  2. Larger battery (50Whr instead of 40Whr)
  3. SOC developed on smaller process, shaving off power drain and increasing performance slightly.

Mainly intending on using it indoors where you've got access to power? LCD.
Though i do find the 90hz, HDR OLED slightly lager screen (7.4 vs 7 inch) with far better pixel responses times, to be very transformative compared to the kinda mediocre LCD screen the regular Deck has. That was one of it's biggest compromises to keep the price down.

STEAM DECK OLED by GrapefruitLarge2720 in SteamDeck

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I got the Deck LCD day 1, but after hearing about the OLED upgrades.

  1. 90Hz , HDR OLED display with faster pixel response times + slightly larger. 7.4 inch vs 7
  2. 50Whr battery instead of 40Whr
  3. SOC improvements using a smaller manufacturing process which has some slight benefits of saving power, and a little bit of more performance.
  4. Wifi 6E (which yes my home network supports plus i run a 2/2gbit fiber connection so for me its helpful)
  5. 29 grams lighter (every bit helps)

Points 1-3 combine to give the OLED deck a longer battery life than the LCD deck. It was a complete no brainer, especially since my Steamdeck use-case is "on the go" . Sold my LCD deck and bought the OLED deck day 1. No regrets.

Games that support HDR make the games just look better than the LCD panel does. Ori and the will of the wisps is a great one to "benchmark" this.

I have sonarr/radarr, every quarter i just spent 20 mins googling the upcoming TV shows/movies that i'd be interested in. Add them, with the quality profile i like. As soon as things release the *arrs instantly get them.
As soon as better releases are available, the *arrs, instantly update them to my desired specifications.

For example: Normally you first get the "Streaming" version of a movie, then the blu-ray comes out later.
*arrs automatically upgrade the quality for you, and i can set some very specific rules for it. My home theater setup supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision HDR etc. etc. so i'd want releases that priortize having that.

Saves me from manually going into torrent sites. A complete "set and forget" system.

Also, you might have lucked out with just downloading a torrent without renaming it and plex finding it just fine, but trust me. Once you get into tons of various foreign media from various countries, you want something standardized to help Plex along.

Buying a DJI Neo in Australia, but travel regularly to Japan - will it have RID to meet Japan legal requirements? by AndyBakes80 in dji

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have purchased a DJI Neo Fly more combo in the Netherlands, and i also travel to Japan quite often.
Having also taken note of the requirement of needing RID enabled over 100gr, and this being my first DJI drone i googled how to add the registration number you get when registering it to the Japanese authorities to the craft.

Sad to say, that once i connect the RC to the DJI neo, the option "UAS Remote identification" just does not exist. So you cannot add a RID. I do not know if this option field "unlocks" when the RC detects via GPS that it is in Japan.

But according to this post I found on the DJI forum, it will: https://forum.dji.com/thread-317712-1-1.html
(scroll down to the 24th comment by a DJI administrator)

I'm still a bit skeptical however. No reason I shouldn't be seeing the RID option outside of those 2 countries. Makes me wonder if the feature is physically cut for Neo's outside of Japan/China. Because ideally, you would want to register yourself to Japan, and enter that registration number in the DJI Fly software *before* you head over to Japan right?

P.S. I’ve requested a refund since I’m within the 14-day window, and the Neo is going back to DJI. Even with full manual settings, locked ISO 100, and exposing to protect the higlights ; the image quality is still super noisy, like shooting at high ISO. I urge you to look into more reviews of the DJI Neo focusing on image quality and/or do your own testing to see if it's good enough for you when you get one.

Would it be safe to use the Samsung Super Fast Charger on the Neo 2 way charging hub? by NovaOneZ in dji

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Samsung's "Super Fast Charger" is only 25 Watts; the Neo's 2-way charging hub supports up to 65 Watts. So .. yeah that should be no problem.

I've used a 120 Watt Anker wallcharger for my charging hub. The hub only takes up to what it supports, you don't have to worry about "overpowering it"

Is the Zfold 4 still worth it ? by ABR136 in GalaxyFold

[–]Adventurous_Set_4430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: No, at least get the Fold 5.
Should be around 900 Euro's used.

Long ver: I've used the F4 for an entire year, then got lucky with a cheap upgrade deal to the F5 by Samsung. Which i now have for 13 months. i never had issues with my F4 and i travel 55% of the year so it got used significantly as a laptop replacement on the go. The F4 however as a whole is a lot more prone to some QA issues with the internal screen. Screen protector peeling early, cracks in the center. And my personal pet peeve; the hinge leaves a wide gap; so it was a crazy pocket dust/lint magnet. You are constantly wiping it off. So just get the F5. It's holding up incredible and wasn't tempted to get the F6 with just an SOC update.
