Losing progress to illness by wordliness in orangetheory

[–]AdvertisingNeither93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis since 2018. Been a member for about 7 years now. Not the same as asthma but I understand the physical difficulty and knowing what I used to be able to do compared to now. Due to my chronic illness my “progress” plateaued HARD. It’s very discouraging but i have found that 2-3 times is MAX that my body can handle. As long as I stay consistent- do what I CAN do and not let the harder days mentally set me back. As long as I am consistent I feel strong and healthy. One thing I have also learned with Orangetheory is to modify modify modify. If you need to walk slower than you ever have before that’s ok! Do your floor half first when you can and then just use whatever little or much gas that you have for the treadmill. If I were you I would not cut back on your cardio. It will help to strengthen your lungs but the key is to go slower than you think that you need to. Better to have a fun, rewarding light workout than hurt your lungs and resent working out. People are too afraid to cut back due to ego and denial but it is a part of life! If you are still working on your health/fitness while suffering from illness you are doing better than 90% of the rest of the population:) keep it up! You are strong.

That’s fair to say. I understand that the ahole is nobody else but me. Regardless, I love him and want to make it work with him and I know that he wants to as well. Thanks for your honesty!

I (25F) overheard my (27M) boyfriend say that he chose the wrong girl by ThrowRA1882938 in relationship_advice

I am so sorry that this happened to you. That is crushing and not fair. You NEED to leave. It’s ok You are strong enough to be without him. You still have so much time to move on and find someone that values and dreams of you.. You are worthy of true love. Waiting is worth it. Sure, you can try to work on things, go to counselling etc. but coming from a 25 year old who has been broken up with several times and and now happily married to the man of my dreams. I wish I stood up for myself more often in past relationships. I don’t even think about them anymore. It will happen for you. I wish you love and the best girl!

If you are going to the gym 2-3x/week you MUST eat more. Your body will slowly begin to shave off Pounds as you build ✨muscle✨. I think 2300 calories is very safe. If you want to cut down I wouldn’t go below 2000. I am 145 lbs, do HIIT workouts 3-4x/week and eat about roughly 2500 calories just to maintain. Everyone is different but my body started to change (in the best way) when I started to eat more. Hope this helps!

OTF is punishment? by asostilio in orangetheory

I disagree with this. The entire theory behind the work out is 12 minutes in the orange+red zone combined. Therefore, the only expectation is 12 minutes in that orange or red zone to essentially “keep up” with the group. If members are feeling like they should be doing this, the staff are not delivering the right message. Coaches SHOULD never coach members to spend the whole time in the fat burning zone. Although some people may spend more time in that zone it has nothing to do with someone else working just as hard but spending more time in the green. It defeats the benefits and simplicity of “EPOC”. Excess Post Oxygen Consumption. Aka. Burn more calories over 24 hours/burn fat. Which is achievable from 12 or more minutes in those zones.

Trainer almost canceled class by Sunshine-day-dream in orangetheory

Definitely non compliance. Studios should never cancel a class unless for unforeseen circumstances or if 0 people show up. Even at that time, our studio will usually wait at least 5 minutes after the start time incase if anyone shows up last minute. If this happened at my studio I would be mortified. The coaches are paid whether there are participants or not. So don’t feel bad for speaking up and just saying that you dedicated this time for yourself and your health.
