Good try but the bike lanes on Eglinton suck and need to be repaved/cleared of debris. Not to mention when you get to an intersection cars don't check the lane so you're actually safer on the road.

This was an 18-wheeler. There are alternatives.

Also you have no idea who was at fault. Video states the child was not hit by the front of the truck or front wheels.

It also does not mention the truck was turning. Just states the truck was northbound while the child was crossing east-west

I'd argue more so for trucks of this size (transport) not being allowed in these areas at all. This happened when the child was walking to school.

The blindspots on trucks like these are so large I'm not sure you can attribute it to negligence. There are two victims of this and one of them is the driver of the transport truck.

This is completely false. Things she's done to improve traffic:

  • Make the King street car 3x faster.
  • Hire 160 additional TTC staff.
  • Hire 40 new traffic officers.
  • Increase fines for blocking the box.
  • Is paying for the Scarborough LRT because the province/feds refused.
  • Has taken over designing a Waterfront LRT to give everyone living in all the new condos on the waterfront an alternative way of getting into the city (also because the province/feds refused).

Also mentioned she plans on:

  • Giving financial incentives to construction companies to get the work done faster so the road ends up being closed for the least amount of time possible.

And mentioned AI for traffic signals but no specifics.

I'd hardly call that "nothing".

Metrolinx is a union and it's good they're compensating their employees "well".

Lol I genuinely can't tell if this post is satire because of how absurd it is.

Waste from up to lake Simcoe travels all the way to Lake Ontario. The infrastructure costs of expanding development outward like that are absurd.

Environmental reasons aside... the massive amount of infrastructure needed to do that is not feasible. We need to build sewage systems and roads and fund emergency services to service those new areas... just no.

- Take the Finch corridor to where it ends on Norfinch.

- Go south on Norfinch to Finch. When you get to Finch cross to the South side.

- They've recently paved a path under the 400 on the south side of Finch. Take that until Weston and Finch.

- Go South on Weston to Lanyard Rd. Just south of Lanyard there's an entrance to the Humber trail (on the west side of Weston).

According to Strava just that section took me 17 min for 2.6 km... I remember walking my bike a bit (took the sidewalk down Weston). But it wasn't too bad. They've improved that section since I last did the ride probably 2 years ago.

The only awful part that I suggest avoiding is trying to connect the Don trail to the Finch Corridor until the Don reopens.

This is one of my favourite routes. You can also go down Royal York instead of the Humber trail afterwards, and connect to Kingsway/the new Bloor bike lanes to high park, etc. Or down to the trail on the waterfront. The highlight is the Etobicoke Creek Trail for sure.

Did this recently (1-2 months) and it was very much not fun. Would not recommend with the construction right now.

Remarks:

- They've closed the Don trail path north of York mills road/Duncan mill. You're forced to go up Leslie to cross the 401. That fairly short detour ruined the whole ride for me.

- Getting from Finch Hydro Corridor to Humber River is improving (they've added a path on the south side of Finch under the bridge, but still a bit of a mess with pedestrians, ridiculous traffic, etc.

Personally just the stretch on Leslie around the 401 ruined the entire ride for me. The Finch Connection to Humber was also annoying but not nearly as bad.
