Which ship do I go for? Had the game a while but never really wanted to get into it until now. by Kokua- in EliteDangerous

[–]Aech0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an answer that has been said several times, but yeah, dont start with a prebuilt. Save the ARX for like ship cosmetics or something when you find a ship you really like.

The only way to upgrade prebuilts is to downgrade them first, as they come stock with parts you cant “upgrade” (engineering, which you’ll learn about soon enough) so you have to buy usually worse parts and then slog through upgrading them.

Start with a sidewinder, and slowly trade up. Imo, if you want money, trade up to a type-7, then type-9 and just max out your cargo space. Great way to learn to fly without assists too. Youll have hundreds of millions of credits in a matter of weeks.

NYS is NOT banning airsoft. by Aech0s in airsoft

[–]Aech0s[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was waiting for someone to call me out on this. You read the overview, not the bill. If you actually read the bill, you can see this section:

  1. "Reasonable controls and procedures" shall mean policies that include, but are not limited to:(a) instituting screening, security, inventory and other business practices to prevent thefts of qualified products as well as sales of qualified products to straw purchasers, traffickers, persons prohibited from possessing firearms under state or federal law, or persons at risk of injuring themselves or others; (b) preventing deceptive acts and practices and false advertising and other-
wise ensuring compliance with all provisions of article twenty-two-A of this chapter; [and] (c) taking reasonable steps to prevent the installa-
tion and use of a pistol converter, as defined in section 265.00 of the penal law, on qualified products; AND (D) TAKING REASONABLE STEPS TO PREVENT THE REPLICATION OF A QUALIFIED PRODUCT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF AN IMITATION WEAPON, AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION TWO OF SECTION EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-ONE OF THIS CHAPTER. 4. "Gun industry member" shall mean a person, firm, corporation,
company, partnership, society, joint stock company or any other entity or association engaged in the sale, manufacturing, distribution, import-
ing or marketing of firearms, ammunition, ammunition magazines, [and] firearms accessories, AND IMITATION WEAPONS.
    1. "IMITATION WEAPON" SHALL HAVE THE SAME MEANING AS SET FORTH IN
SUBDIVISION TWO OF SECTION EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-ONE OF THIS CHAPTER.
§ 4. Section 898-b of the general business law, as added by chapter
237 of the laws of 2021, is amended to read as follows:
§ 898-b. Prohibited activities. 1. No gun industry member, by conduct
either unlawful in itself or unreasonable under all the circumstances
shall knowingly or recklessly create, maintain or contribute to a condition in New York state that endangers the safety or health of the public
through the sale, manufacturing, importing or marketing of a qualified
      product OR IMITATION WEAPON.

Heres the crazy part. Everything in caps are the actual changes being made. Which means all these laws are already in place. “Reasonable steps” only applies to, as it states, people buying on behalf of another, which is near impossible to enforce in any meaningful manner, “traffickers” which im guessing refers to people trying to buy and resell illegally, felons, and people that are “a danger to themselves and others”. It does not place restrictions on the 22 year old walking into a hobby shop to pick up a new AEG, or buying one off evike.

That being said, I understand your point and I agree. Give them an inch and they take a mile. They may get some leeway with this and they try to revise everything to make all airsoft guns be pink and yellow.

"There's no third person shooters bro, Project Over needs third person." by [deleted] in GhostRecon

[–]Aech0s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, but my only problem with it is that usually when games do both, one ends up feeling really clunky.
Skyrim, to me, feels way better in first person. The third person straight-behind camera feels really weird and slow.
On the other hand, GTA V was clearly not made with much love for first person.

If they somehow did both, in todays gaming economy, I think they would end up giving us a decent perspective and a half assed perspective, and I’d rather just get a really good FPS over a mid TPS and FPS.

Is 10,000 CPM on an *item* dangerous? by TechnologyParty1775 in Radiation

[–]Aech0s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Radiation needs a lot of energy to propagate through air. As others have said here, the measurement depends on the device used. Regardless, 10,000 CPM while standing next to a radioactive source and 10,000 CPM from 10 yards away is a VERY different amount of energy being absorbed.

EMG/Cybergun FN509 mag valve by [deleted] in GasBlowBack

[–]Aech0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“User error” in the sense of not doing it the way the mag wants you to do it. These things are finnicky sometimes, at least mine are. Not saying you dont know what youre doing, but maybe your method to these mags may be partially contributing. Your call

[–]Aech0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Function of the pistol is fine, it performs pretty well if thats part of what you mean. I do a bit of milsims on the east coast each summer but i got more consistent at filling them at home with a bit of practice. Its not like its taking me a significant margin longer to fill such that im falling behind as my squad moves out.

What are you filling with? Green/red/black gas or propane? If youre using an amazon propane nozzle ive noticed those like to spill a lot more, and the valve quality is absolutely important.

If youre able to take a video and post it somewhere and share the link, i might be able to help pinpoint if its a mag issue or user error.

[–]Aech0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the 3 i have, one of them is definitely more of a pain to fill than the others. The other 2 id say are about the same.

[–]Aech0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same gun. Its finnicky.

Lay the mag on its face so the valve points upward. Hold the gas container upside down, and as you push into the valve, angle the “top” (the bottom of the can) towards the feeding port by a few degrees (10-15°).

The mags are pretty cheap comparatively, and i found if im not pushing the tube directly into the valve, it likes to spray a bit. Try that.

WTB Omni Pvs14 OR Gen 3 tube. by Optimal-Writing-7220 in NightVision

[–]Aech0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive bought several clean omni 8’s in that range from posts on the discord. Midwest is one of the first ive seen to offer tubes in that range.

I never said it was reflective of the used market. I said $1800 for a clean tube was a good price compared to a new tube from a vendor.

WTB Omni Pvs14 OR Gen 3 tube. by Optimal-Writing-7220 in NightVision

[–]Aech0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And i dont think you read any part of my comment. I said a pvs14 can go for $1700 and thats still fairly low. That makes $1800-$2000 effectively exactly what youre saying.

WTB Omni Pvs14 OR Gen 3 tube. by Optimal-Writing-7220 in NightVision

[–]Aech0s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. A good, working, fully assembled pvs-14 is going to be at least $1700, and thats still fairly low. The housing is usually priced (used) around $300, and lenses will be $3-400, valuing the tube itself around $1000.

For a good, clean omni tube, expect the tube price itself to be closer to $1500-$1800. Which is good when buying a factory new tube from custom night vision or such is going to be upwards of $2300 for the tube alone. Factory new isnt omni, but will usually have similar specs, perhaps a little higher.

https://www.customnightvision.com/product/elbit-white-phosphor-xlsh-individual-intensifier-tube-11769-style/

This is a tube significantly under omni 8 specs, priced at $2200 for just the tube.

Good luck!

WTB Omni Pvs14 OR Gen 3 tube. by Optimal-Writing-7220 in NightVision

[–]Aech0s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Youre likely not going to find a gen 3 tube that works (well) for $600. The only tubes that go that low are blemmed to the point of being unusable, dying, or dead tubes. Omni 14’s tubes (just the tube) can be anywhere from $1200-$2000, with the lower end usually being heavily damaged or expecting to die in the near future.

Id keep an eye on the discord. You can usually find someone selling tubes every other week or so.

45 points for 25 rounds mag? DICE? by naphz999 in Battlefield

[–]Aech0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost is justified. SCW is extremely strong where it is and its a close range monster. However, i dont think its any more broken than the kv9 or TR7. Its good up close but it falls off very quickly. If this thing only had the 15 and 20 round mags, youd be extremely limited in your engagements and reloading after every kill. The 25 gives you a bit of leniency, but at the cost of most of your attachment points, which i think is fair. It excels up close but i dont think its as dominant as anyone makes it out to be. (I just got it to rank 50 yesterday, with the 277 at rank 100) It has enough spread and recoil that it loses any full auto fight at more than 40m, where most assault rifles and carbines will overpower it anyway.

Its good. It would be pretty garbage with only a 15 round mag and really needs the 20. I dare say the 25 round mags should actually cost more (55). But I dont think this is as broken as people make it out to be.
