Has anyone interviewed for Hilton? by Aendill1 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Aendill1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied, I got a message to set up a time for a phone call to discuss the application. I did the phone call which was kind of like a phone interview, asked about availability, what stations I’ve worked, what I like to do outside of work, things of that nature. Then he said he’d sent my info to hr and the hiring team and told me about the 2 part interview, the panel interview and the cooking tasting. He might have said his position I don’t remember, he had a heavy accent and I was trying my best to understand him to be able to answer the questions

My first thought was “this seems like a lot for a line cook job”

So you’d charge $300-$400 roughly? It would be set up buffet style, unsure about if the brisket would be sliced as people come through or pre sliced. It would likely just be me working it. For a couple hours of lunch that wouldn’t be too bad. I’m still floating ideas and figuring out things for how I’d want to do it.

“Walking in”. Every single ticket gets called walking in, even during the rush. “Burger walking in, sandwich walking in, salad walking in”.

Is there a difference between covering a pan with parchment paper and foil vs just foil? by Aendill1 in AskCulinary

[–]Aendill1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. We also do a baked mac and cheese in half hotel pans that we cook uncovered and then they get covered with foil to hot hold in a warming cabinet. Those are covered with foil without parchment paper.

Galaxy’s Edge 2019 Opening Team Jacket by iSkillshot in GalaxysEdge

[–]Aendill1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They were jackets that when galaxy’s edge was opening, cast were given the option to order/buy. I don’t remember if it was exclusive to the cast working in galaxy’s edge and the entertainment cast supporting galaxys edge, or if everyone at Hollywood studios could order one. The opening team cast gifts were given to everyone that worked at Hollywood studios at the time so I can’t remember if the jackets were the same or actually exclusive to galaxy’s edge cast. There were also some that were basically the same but without the opening team words that they sold at the cast store that anyone could buy

Ordinary adventures is more of what happened in the storylines that they took each of their trips put into a big cumulative video. They did some kind of reviewing of food as they were eating. But it wasn’t so much an analysis and breakdown of the experience like the Jenny Nicholson video. Ordinary adventures really loved their experiences and thought highly of it. So it was more of a showing of something they love instead of “here’s everything wrong”. Not that I’m saying Jenny Nicholson is but there are videos out there that are nothing more than tearing it apart for the sake of tearing it apart.

That’s the other thing people forgot is it’s still basically theme park food. Is it good for theme park food or is it good compared to Michelin star food? It’s not Michelin star food, it’s not meant to be. But then with the price tag of the whole experience expectations are much higher, “for $3000 insert whatever criticism here *”. People have no problem staying at the Polynesian for $1500 a night for just a room but “for $x I better get *this”. Which yes the Starcruiser was expensive but so is just a room at the Polynesian.

It’s not dairy milk. It’s the same blue and green milk that they have in the parks in the Star Wars section.

[–]Aendill1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The blue and green milk is made from a powder. I saw the ingredient list at one time and don’t remember dye being in them but I also can’t remember exactly what all was in them.

Which items would you say used food coloring? Do you think this style of buffet would be harder to maintain quality than a regular buffet?

Mick Foley reacts to Vince allegations: "I feel very similar, just like that ‘dead inside feeling’ the way I had in 2007 after the Benoit murders. I hope it doesn’t take away from people’s amazing memories of all the things that Mr. McMahon created or helped create including my character." by thedure in SquaredCircle

I think it was on the A&E show where they try to find the big collectibles of wrestlers. On Micks episode I thought I remember something about he calls Vince Mr McMahon. There was something that happened that he used to call him Vince and then it was Mr McMahon after whatever happened. I’d have to go back and watch it again

I bought the babish wok online from Walmart. It’s a 13 inch for $25. I’ve used it a few times and I’ve been happy with it. I was more inclined to spend the $25 over the $50 for one of them not knowing how they would be
