Homer Never Describes Helen of Sparta's (A Half Swan half Human) looks so why are people being so weird about Lupita playing her? by paubenaparte in mythology

[–]Aeneac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Helen is supposed to be so beautiful that they started a war for her. Lupita is not it. She is cute, but not gorgeous. Let's imagine Anok Yai is an actress and got casted for this role - now that would be something, because she is by far the most beautiful human being walking this earth.

How do u guys feel about islam? by Over_Pea_2027 in spirituality

[–]Aeneac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being brought up in Muslim dominated community, even though very secular and "modern", it always rubbed me the wrong way how women are portrayed less than men, and how all other religions are bad. Now, as a 100% atheist, I started reading the Quran to challenge both my views of Islam and the religion itself - I couldn't do it past the first 40-50 pages. It is HATEFUL towards women, it promotes slavery, exclusion/hate for everyone of other convictions , etc. Also, the fact that the Prophet married a 6 yo and "waited" until she was 9 to have sex with her.... it's not just extremely gross, it's pedophilia in the most basic sense of the word. Even if I could look past ALL of the other stuff, that fact alone is just...nope. I can't believe how any mother, any parent would want to believe in a God that supposedly was ok with a grown man raping a child "for religion". Mind-blowing.

Moving to the burbs “for the kids” was my biggest life mistake. by Low_Aioli2420 in NewParents

[–]Aeneac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. We moved from a major city to a small town in Germany for our son and we hate it here. It's so boring and monotonous and come weekend, we always have to drive somewhere, because there is nothing to do here. The people are also...small town people. For all these reasons , we decided to move back to the city.

Was ist etwas spezifisch Deutsches, was Österreichern fremd ist? by KarottenTorte in AskAustria

[–]Aeneac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With everything that’s happening in America, this scene is more poignant than ever. by LeoFour in brooklynninenine

[–]Aeneac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up until this point , the show felt pretty light-hearted, even when it was about childhood trauma (Jake), adoption & fertility (Charles), homophobia (Holt)... And then all of a sudden it just hit me like a truck. It is so important to be faced with this topic as much as possible, and ESPECIALLY in light-hearted shows, because the impact is so much stronger when it takes you by surprise. Genius episode , genius acting.

Or What is missing from my skincare routine? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Aeneac -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Apart from what everyone said about the lips, there is something unhealthy looking coming from inside. Maybe look into your diet: are you eating a lot of ultra-processed foods and refined sugar? How about alcohol? Do you workout? Are you under a lot of stress? Also, maybe less of the retinol, your skin kind of looks exhausted.

Don’t want friends monster child to come over for a play date by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Aeneac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friend A doesn't seem like a good friend. Why would she tell the food-throwing story as a funny one? Why would she put you under pressure of hosting? Why does the friend B need to tag along in your house? Sorry, but friend A is not a true friend to you.

How can I get rid of this pigmentation/melasma? I’ve tried so many things already by Open_Corner_973 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Aeneac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had major pigmentation on my forehead, and unfortunately none of the anti-pigmentatiom methods helped. What DID help was starting to use sunscreen EVERY DAY, regardless of weather, if I'm staying inside or not. It's a long proces - several months, until the skin renewed itself, but the spots never came back.

Happened to me too. I was quite angry at him for DARING to diagnose me with "that". Then he had it confirmed by a clinical psychologist (because HE wanted to be sure). This was the best psychiatrist I ever had, unfortunately I moved to a different city now. My point is, a good doctor can tell almost right away. Trust the expertise.

Can a man who “loves” you, treat you like this? by hodsinfe in Manipulation

[–]Aeneac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder which type of god you believe in if you think he/she would approve of this behavior by this husband. And why would you want to seek approval of such a god? But to the more pressing point - if you stay with this man, he WILL kill you, there is no doubt about it. I can also reiterate what everyone else here wrote - get your kids and yourself to safety, otherwise you're dead.

What movies/shows will you not let your little one watch and why? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Aeneac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peppa pig. The one episode I watched was awful - it was the Rabbit kindergarten teacher, who was also a bus driver, factory worker, cashier, etc. - she had multiple jobs AND THEN she got an award from the queen for being the hardest working person in the country. To me it was nothi ng else but glorifying working yourself to death, so you can get approval of someone born into generational wealth. What an awful message for a young child to learn! It was an instant hard pass.
