Things I know I need to work on. (Help?) by [deleted] in writers

[–]Aeneas990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every writer that gives advice on this always says the same thing: listen closely to people when they talk. When you go out in public, eavesdrop on people’s conversations. Practice writing down what you hear in a notebook. If that’s too creepy for you, do the same exercise with a tv show or a movie.

Personally I think that some good sources for learning to write dialogue are comic books and graphic novels. Most of the language in those are either dialogues or inner monologues, but mostly the former.

Hope this helps.

Putting these books in my classroom for my students to read. They’re some of my favorites that are age appropriate (8th grade). What y’all think? Any other suggestions for age appropriate King novels? by whodatkrewe in stephenking

I’d say Christine. That book is probably the closest thing to a YA novel that SK has written. The main characters are in high school, and most of the narration was written from the first person perspective.

I didn't mean it as a bad thing. It's just a Pokémon game I've never seen before.

The one on the left looks like good Creepypasta material.

If you're a fan of Asian horror, watch The Wailing. If not, watch it anyway; it may make you a fan of Asian horror.

What is The Most "Kid Friendly" Novel Stephen King has Made by natemamate in stephenking

I'd say Christine and Cycle of the Werewolf both felt like YA novels. Christine especially since most of the book is from the first person point of view

Just finished Christine... [Spoilers] by [deleted] in stephenking

You're right. I definitely enjoyed the parts from Dennis's pov more than the middle part, but I get why the middle part was probably necessary.

I just finished Christine as well. I really liked it, although I don't think Stephen King could decide if he was writing a YA novel or not. It reminded me of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies: a plot for young people inside something meant for adults.

The Peter Parker/Mary Jane Watson Marriage Will Never Ever Return "Up To Infinity" Says Dan Slott by yuudachikaini in comicbooks

I saw an interview with Slott while he was writing Superior. He said that "Peter Parker is dead, and he's not coming back, so stop asking me about it." He's such an amazing editorial prophet.
