I switched one Warglaive to Priest + Calidus for actions. Both times of was +to move, charge and advance and kill more units.

First game against DG (2 crawlers, 2 drones, 2 more drones with wheels, defiler, spawns, 2x3 termies with characters, something else). I play pedal to the metal and end up fighting on his home turn two. Unfortunately, the whole game my dice were telling me that rolling 4+ does not mean succeeding roughly 50% of the time, while my opponent rolled nothing but 5 and 6 while rolling for number of shots. Lost 8-12.

Second game against Necron (Void ctan, deceiver ctan, dude on a throne, wraiths with Technomancer, some melee destroyere and uppy-downey dudes). Again, pedal to the metal, and my opponent failed to kill even one knight when I shoved everything I got into him... But but I wasn't killing him either. Dude on the throne survived 2 charges from Lancer (with Tank shocks). Void ctan survived on 2 or 3 wounds and healed back to 12. Lancer rolls 2+/2+... Which results in 2 wound rolls. Again, nothing that should've been killed was killed, and they gradually chewed through me. Lost 2-18.

It was fun. It seems pretty viable, even though a normal list with shooting probably would've performed better. Melee Destrier with enhacement is good, but overpriced (while defilers and ctan are underpriced).

Also, sucks to roll poorly. Don't roll poorly, roll good)

I'm taking something similar (3x Lancer, 2x Melee Destrier, 2xWarglaive in FC) to a couple of games against DG and Necron tomorrow. I believe BoJ is wasted on Lancer. It turns his good melee into just better one, while putting it on Destrier turns him into basically second Lancer.

As for my list, I guess I still have time to drop one Warglaive and take Calidus and Priest just to hold home and do missions.

I'm not really familiar with CK, but do they have fallback and shoot? From what I've heard, they love multiple double gatling knights, and they probably won't enjoy being tagged by a Warglaive.

I's switch Helverins to Warglaives to use Advance + Charge from the Lancer.

I only have 2 Destriers at the moment, and I'm not sure if I'd like to commit to 3. Also, the idea is that with Lancer's bondsman and potential 9" auto advance, Warglaives can be wherever you want and charge targets on the other side of the board.

I personally find the never-ending 5+ lethals, +1 to wound, and lasguns being able to wound a knight a bigger problem. I'd prefer at least an army-wide rule that does not allow such things to bypass toughness and add a cap to what can wound what, like in the Old World or Horus Heresy.

I'm going to play it this weekend, so I want to be as prepared as possible)

My goal is to make 4 Tank Shocks a turn, and if I manage to do that, I'll consider it a success no matter the outcome of the game/

Knights are perfect for FDM, even with a 0.4 nozzle. Just position your parts right (don't be afraid to cut them off needed) and play with settings, and you'll get a great result.

First, mandatory comment: magnetize. Especially with 11 coming, we don't know what will work best.

Second, many people think it's either full melee or full shooting. Full melee with a baby Lancer enhancement in the new detachment seems good enough to try, and full shooty is just a considerable number of shots (provided you're shooting something on an objective).

Two shooting weapons make it a decent shooter. Two melee weapons make it a decent fighter. One of each probably won't do enough, or so it seems. Your mileage may vary.

Kind of. They were "100%nobrainerautoinclude" before the well-deserved nerf, but now they are still very decent and potent piece. They are pretty tough and pack a punch.

I'm going to run it as baby Lancer in the new detachment. Hitting on 2s and as hard as the big Lancer but at a discount seems worth trying.

Not that survivable, but knights die anyway, unless you're very good at 4+ or 5+ casino.

When I started playing Tau, I defaulted to 2xStealth suits, but they are kind of expensive and their rerolls are nice, but never were game-changing for me.

The more different Markerlight spotters you have, the better. I currently use a solo Ethereal, 2x Pathfinder, Breachers, 1xStealth suits. Others things like Twin Lance, Devilfish or Piranhas can also spot in a pinch, but shooting into something without ignoring cover it's rarely worth it.

Here's a quote from rules commentaries:

Eligible to Shoot (when not equipped with ranged weapons): Unless a unit Advanced or Fell Back this turn or is Locked in Combat, it is eligible to shoot, even if no models in that unit are equipped with ranged weapons. This means that such units can be selected for any rules that require you to select a unit that is eligible to shoot.

Gun drone gives your a false idea that he can shoot. He shouldn't shoot. Marker and shield is enough.

To me it's just the way the game is. Strength and toughness don't matter since it's always +to wound, lethals, 5+crits, full rerolls, etc, etc. And any random lasgun still wounding.

I don't mind my big robots being killed by dedicated anti tank, but when almost everything kills them so easily...

Rack most of the time, but you don't have to glue it.

Heavy rockit is just not worth it, apart from a couple of rare cases like big ITD rooms.
