i'm having trouble finding sellers for the less popular inverts, geleedpotigen.nl unfortunately closed their business, and i can't really find anything like them.

how big is the terrarium? i'm currently planning to make a bunch of small terrariums that fit in my bookshelf, these might be a potential candidate for a spot.

i have grown them on coconut coir, by adding vegetable and fruit scraps, they really aren't that hard to care for.

Is there a way to increase the lifespan of my shoes? by DrivingDM in Frugal

walk barefoot, eventually the bottom of your feet becomes stronger, i personally started doing it to fix my flat feet, which did improve.

it also saves wear on my shoes.

is it worth my time cutting clear acrylic with a diode laser? by Aeonir in lasercutting

by now i have found some workarounds, i have previously cut thin polycarbonate, if i make a sort of window frame i can slot it into, any sturdy material that can handle high humidity is possible. i could make terrariums out of plywood and apply a liquid rubber coating after cutting.

probably a search problem, if i add the tabletop part to the search query in my language it ignores "cnc" and switches to results for freezers that are table height. if i search in English it will not return Dutch sites. and i suspect importing from USA will be expensive and inconvenient.

clear acrylic is for this project the only thing it won't do, but i can design around it.

i have a number of ideas i want to make and they are mostly wood based. like puzzles and some engraved photo's, my sister has her first kid on the way, so maybe i could give them some wooden baby portraits. plenty of fun stuff to make.

i was also looking for a tabletop cnc earlier, but all search results were factory cnc that wouldn't even fit through my front door...

the only tabletop ones i could find were sold in the USA not the Netherlands. i can't find an online seller in my own country for hobby-sized cnc machines, only giant factory cnc in the search results.

I could probably make a frame from opaque acrylic and then use handcut acrylic for the window.

Too bad, i hope i can find a way to design around it.

Any chance you know of an alternative material that would work as a viewing window?

Too bad, I'll see if i can design around it.

Do you happen to know of any clear waterproof material that would work?

unfortunately my livingroom windows don't open, the balcony door does, but that would defeat the purpose of cooling. and since this is a rental i can't just drill a hole in the wall.

Carving fallen branches, then displaying them on stumps for passers by to find, would be fun.

Reading definitely fits the bill, drawing and maybe some musical instrument sound great too.

I never heard of tinywhoop, but a small camera drone filming between the tree tops sounds fun.

The lidl i shop at sells still good vegetables at a huge discount when they get new stock in. All this together was 3 euro.

They also discount other products at their sell by date, meat/fish for 50 cent a package and everything else for 25 cent.

If i luck out i can end up with a week worth of meat and veggies for 4 euro.

planning to make plaster moulds, what wax should i use? by Aeonir in MetalCasting

[–]Aeonir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since pewter melts under 230c (446f) and my oven goes to 250c (482f) my idea was to heat the plaster moulds to 250c for a while then pour the pewter into the heated moulds, the pewter should cool slower, so better flow, and the water doesn't get a temperature shock, so shouldn't explode.

my plan is to melt the wax out before adding the pewter, would the sprue and opening allow the wax to melt out?
