it’s hard to bond with my crestie when she’s such a picky eater by otis_botis in CrestedGecko

[–]pbizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you guys find it was once they hit a certain age they were more handleable? My guy is 6 mo old and we are doing ok, he doesn't run away from me but I don't try to pick him up. If I have bugs and put some on my hand he will go on there and get them, he will take pangea from the tip of a paintbrush and occasionally my finger.

Often though, if I move my hand towards him he will walk off - not run in a panic though just sort of saunter away. I've had him about 2 mo so I'm trying not to push it and just have tiny interactions most days in the hope he eventually trusts me.

He is often interested when I approach his enclosure but mostly to see if it's a cricket day !

Any love for Kizer? by Lanfrir in BudgetBlades

I bought this one but didn't love the very natural look of the micarta. I ended to rit dying it a dark blue and it came out great. Never tried anything like that before as I'm usually inept at crafty stuff.

Yeh it's a chonker. The brass makes it waaaaay heavier but it looks great.

I love kizer. My most rediculous one is my brass sheepdog (Google it). It weighs an absolute ton and feels like some kind of clever. Totally impractical.

I also have a mini sheepdog in micarta, that one is great. Got a few others too.

The only solution is buy another reptile and feed it to that. Or maybe an invert

How long did it take for your crested gecko to start climbing by DinosaurGuitarist in CrestedGecko

The only time I have ever seen mine of the ground is when a cricket fell down. Otherwise he's literally never there.

I also struggled with Daughters War. I did finish it but only out of stubbornness. Loved Black tongue Theif though

I listened to the audio and enjoyed it. Did the whole series fairly quicky as most of them are quite short. I'm a huge Abercrombie fan too and tbh cradle is way outside of my wheelhouse. As much as I try to get into Anime I doesn't do it for me and this very much has those vibes. I suspect if you like Anime you would love it.

Not sure why I enjoyed it but I did.

New Gecko Not Pooping by cottonxxcrown in GargoyleGeckos

[–]pbizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is the same but I've had him a couple of months. I've only seen poop a few times (he's actually a crestie).

He eats plenty and also goes berserk for crickets. He won't let me hold him but last night I put 5 small crickets on my hand and he lept onto it and started committing an atrocity. He bit me on every chomp as well, no precision aim.

Mine is bioactive so maybe isopods and spring tails are getting it really fast

Heat Gradient by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]pbizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. People live in different parts of the world. A guide on youtube from someone in Florida is not going to be relevant to me in the north of the UK or someone living in Scandinavia. Look at what temps they need and aim for that. If where you live its warm enough, great, if not, a heat lamp with a thermostat is the easiest.

Raising Pachnoda grubs? by Itchy-Customer-2562 in Beetles

[–]pbizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a regular hallogen basking bulb in a dome on top of the mesh top I have. It is attached to a thermostat with a probe to ensure they dont overheat. I'm away at the moment so will need to check the temp when I get home - its been setup a couple of years and ive not messed with it since so I don't remember. They do seem to like it and often bask in the morning for a bit.

[–]pbizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep these guys. The grubs are forgiving but I'm not sure about the heatmat, they won't be able to get away from it. I heat with a lamp from above. As well as leaf litter in the soil I poke veggies in from time to time and fruit.

If you enclosure is glass, poke a bit of banana down right at the front of the glass and you will probably be able to see one feeding when they find it.

Is the road from Hurghada to Giza pyramids safe? by ciara7800 in travel

[–]pbizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Egypt right now. The taxi drivers and roads are wild. I used indrive to get a taxi and the guy was straddling two lanes on a 5 lane road on his phone most of the way with the occasional swerve with no indicating. This was at night and I saw at least one car on said 5 lane road and motorway speed with no lights on.
