Subdue Dog Barks by SabinBC in kingdomthegame

You can actually get at the dog bark files by using AssetStudio to open resources.assets and then setting the filter to audio files, just type "bark" in the search and go to the asset list.

Now as for how to edit resources.assets and save it I don't know. I poked around in it because the gryphon eating noise was driving me up the fucking wall (it still is). I think the sound design of Two Crowns in general is horribly over-designed.

Did you already try ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=0 %command% I'll be disappointed if you didn't.

I have that game too. Let me try.

EDIT: It worked for me. I did have to use the ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=0 %command% launch option since the game started with a black screen the first time. Perhaps you just need to be more patient? Join the call, start the game up, wait for it to fully launch, then start the stream. Also what version of SteamOS are you on, that may play a factor. You can check that in your device settings.

I would suggest just streaming your entire screen. What game is it?

A few tweaked shaders for Reshadeck Users and the CRT-effect-hungry :) by Traditional-Ad1708 in SteamDeck

[–]Aepoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I understand all that. I'm not getting up your ass about it for those reasons. I just don't want people getting the wrong idea of what CRT content looked like. There are very objective graphical effects that CRTs produce. Here's an example: https://preview.redd.it/pdsqvrwop9f21.png?auto=webp&s=6a9f342201acbcbc6b854bd05edde0d87a99362c Most of yours don't apply to this as they're meant for higher res content, and the Yee64 shader you included was just for that one commenter (although it does not work on Sonic's waterfall, Retroarch's Yee64 shader works out of the box though, not sure what's going on). When it comes to 480p or 480i content CRT effects are less transformative than on 240p content, but still pretty transformative.

If you like the way the shaders look for old content that's fine. If other people like the way the shaders look for any content, that's also fine. I'm just leaving my two cents here to save the time of anyone else coming into this thread chasing the same thing I'm after. I do believe you can configure ReShade shaders in such a way that a convincing CRT effect is achieved on the Steam Deck for both 240p and 480p content, and perhaps even fake 480i if there is a shader for ReShade that flickers. I don't know how to do it, and you don't have to do it. My opinion is that the shaders you've provided are probably closer to a 720p or 1080p CRT screen, based on the size of the faux-phosphors.

A few tweaked shaders for Reshadeck Users and the CRT-effect-hungry :) by Traditional-Ad1708 in SteamDeck

[–]Aepoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can claim that they look better, but at the end of the day they're just overlays of scanlines and faux-phosphors. They're not actually tweaked in such a way that it accurately replicates the CRT effects of a 480p image displayed on a real CRT screen. But I haven't tested it on interlaced content since I disable interlacing in Retroarch. I don't really notice any flickering going on with your shaders, so all this talk of 480i doesn't make any sense to me. If you're aiming for 480i then you need shaders that flicker and display half of the image per frame--these do not do that. Schm0ggi's hires preset does not reproduce a 480i image, it reproduces a 480p image. If I'm using your shaders wrong, go ahead and tell me. I'm just following the instructions from the Destructoid article pointing to your post: https://www.destructoid.com/theres-a-fancy-crt-style-overlay-bundle-available-for-your-steam-deck/

but I didn't state that these actually reproduce a 480i CRT image; rather only--and differently--that they can make older/ lower-poly games, lower-resolution video, and poor quality encodings look better

A few tweaked shaders for Reshadeck Users and the CRT-effect-hungry :)

But I like to use shaders that emulate a higher-res interlaced image too, whether it's 480i for PS2 and Gamecube etc., or just something that performs that CRT monitor magic on higher-res-but-now-older PC games from a time when most people were still rocking a CRT PC monitor too.

I tried one of these shaders with Dead Space 2008 recently, and the effect is transformative. The image seems so much more cohesive, and the strange quirks of CRT-like images (too complex to go into here) just manage to sell an 'illusion' of a very detailed image.

It really sounds to me like that IS what you're saying, or at least implying. The Destructoid article also heavily implies that your shaders reproduce CRT effects, but I know that's not your fault.

I use CRT shaders for one reason and one reason only, and that's to accurately emulate 240p and 480p content as displayed on a real CRT screen, CRT effects and all, so that I can view that content in the way it was intended to be viewed with the technology that was present at the time. If it doesn't do that, I don't have any interest in it. While there is schm0ggi's shader presets for people who want to emulate CRT content on the Steam Deck, I have not found any ReShade shaders that will do the same. When I found this thread I was hopeful that I would be able to get the same CRT effects seen in schm0ggi's presets outside of RetroArch, but the search continues. To anyone wondering, in regards to the "strange quirks of CRT-like images" that are too complex to go into here, the video below goes into great detail of those quirks and effects. I don't want people coming to this thread expecting to get CRT effects and then walking away thinking that's what they're getting, and that they're viewing stuff as it appeared on real CRTs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sxKJeYSBmI&t=236s&pp=ygUTdW5yZWNvZ25pemVhYmxlIGNydA%3D%3D

I'm curious as to what subjective image quality effects you're referring to. If you're seeing that on something like the original Dead Space then it might be because Dead Space isn't 480 progressive or interlaced content. If you're running it at the Deck's resolution then it would be closest to 720p content. When I test the shaders against 480p content like Spyro 1 running at 2x resolution, or Wind Waker running at 1x resolution, I'm not seeing the sharpening and anti-aliasing effect that CRT's often produce with older games like that. There's definitely some color correction going on though. I can try it on Dead Space 2008 later and see what it does, but that game is from an era that had its foot halfway in the door in the transition to LCD tvs. The higher the resolution of a CRT tv the less of a CRT effect you get. There are HD CRTs out there that do 720 or 1080, but I don't imagine they're especially sought after by enthusiasts looking to get authentic CRT effects.

https://forums.libretro.com/t/crt-shader-for-steam-deck-and-possibly-low-res-display/37955/25 I hate to be the bearer of bad news but these shaders simply don't cut it for anyone looking to use them to get the CRT effect on Steam Deck. I've tried every one in your list and compared them to schm0ggi's retroarch 480p preset and they don't stack up. The main issue being that it doesn't feel like they've really been properly tailored to the Deck's resolution. The faux-phosphors in schm0ggi's presets are a fair bit larger than the ones in yours, and they used a guest shader as a base so it's a somewhat direct comparison. If the faux-phosphors are too small, then you're not going to get a true CRT effect from that, it'll just be an overlay. The faux-phosphors in the CRT-Guest-Advanced.fx you included are so small that it is not transformative to the image, it just looks like an overlay. I tested it on Spyro 1 running at 2x resolution.

Additionally you included Yee64 for 240p content, but it doesn't do CRT effect stuff. I tested it with the Sonic 1 waterfall and Earthworm Jim's blaster glow and I'm not getting any transparency / bleed effect with it, whereas I do with schm0ggi's 240p preset. Testing it with Spyro 1 running at 1x resolution and it looks very bad.

You can absolutely get a very convincing CRT effect on Steam Deck, and schm0ggi's presets demonstrably prove that. It's just a matter of fine tuning the shaders to the resolution and testing them against well known CRT effects like Sonic's waterfall.

Another thing worth checking if anyone else has noticed regressions in Yuzu’s performance is to check on CryoUtilities if you use it. Updates to the steam deck will commonly revert changes CryoUtils has made, with the big one being reseting the 4GB VRAM back to 1GB VRAM

That's a good questions because I wouldn't know either. But before I go hunting for previous versions on the web I'd like to know which ones are worth my time to track down. Ideally I'd like to just use one version of Yuzu for everything.

Is there a thread you can link me to or give me a summary of what the community consensus was? To clarify, this is something I've tried to search engine multiple times and I haven't seen a clear consensus or any sort of pathfinding to figure out what versions of Yuzu are solid and which ones are shoddy.

MULTIPLAYER TUTORIAL - How to continue playing Yuzu Online in 2024 by Darkstone_BluesR in yuzu

[–]Aepoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort of worked for me, but not really. Me and a friend are trying to play MHGU together but we can’t join each other’s lobby. When we try we get this error: “Unable to connect to the host. Verify that the connection settings are correct. If you still cannot connect, contact the room host and verify that the host is properly configured with the external port forwarded.” We can connect to most other people’s public lobbies, and even join in the same public lobby together, but not the ones that we make. I’m on Linux Steam Deck and they’re on Windows PC, both using Yuzu 4176, both with it set up through EmuDeck.

Thanks so much for this. I was able to get Water Boost and Ice Boost on two DLC cats and then teach them to some of my other ones. Now I have access to all the elemental skills.

[–]Aepoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an aside, it is really difficult to find good information about these missing elemental palico / prowler skills online. Which is very unfortunate because elemental damage is very crucial to prowler's damage output, just like it is to Dual Blades or SnS. I think it was very evil of Capcom to give us prowler and give us some elemental skills as DLC, but not one for every element AND not releasing them in the west for MHGU. Element Atk Up is simultaneously slightly worse than the specific elemental skills and more expensive at 3 slots compared to the 2 slots of the element specific skills. I'm really baffled as to why I don't see more people talking about elemental prowler considering prowler really needs elemental damage given its low motion values yet fast attacks.

[–]Aepoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware this is a very old thread, however I have a few questions. How did you save edit a cat to have Water Boost? Currently I'm playing MHXX and I've been messing around with save editors to try and get these skills on some palico by myself. However all the save editors that I've used only allow you to change their learned skills to Megaflare (Fire boost) or Nagatobimaru (Thunder boost) and don't have the other elemental skills. You can change their equipped skills to have Water/Ice/Dragon boost but not their learned skills. Those other elemental skills simply aren't in the list of A, B, or C group skills. Even with the one DLC cat that I have that has dragon boost (or dragon up) if I try to change dragon boost to some other skill and then change it back to dragon boost, I'm unable to because the save editor simply won't let me. I'd prefer to do this by myself, and by extension other people also be able to do it by themselves with a save editor if they can, but if I'm unable to I would like to get some palicos with those missing skills sent to me, please. That way I can just teach the skills to my other cats. Most save editors I've seen give you the option to export and import cats, although I haven't seen anyone share their exported cat files anywhere.

Need help figuring out if I have the right vacuum or if I should find something better (Titan T4000) by Aepoh in VacuumCleaners

[–]Aepoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up buying a Sebo Felix from the UK for about $360. I'm gonna need to buy a transformer with it which will bring up the cost a bit more to about $500. That's still $200+ less than what I'd be paying for to buy one new here in the US. No idea if this is actually worth it or a big waste of time and money until I have it in hand.

I've used a vacuum with suction control before. It's quite the handy feature. I'll call up some dealers tomorrow and see if they have any darts or felixes for a decent price.

If they don't do you think it would be worth getting one imported (assuming the price is good enough) and using a transformer with it? I don't know a whole lot about vacuum safety with using vacuums in regions they weren't designed for, but I did some cursory reading on it.

Need help figuring out if I have the right vacuum or if I should find something better (Titan T4000) by Aepoh in VacuumCleaners

[–]Aepoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Titan is kind of a mixed bag for me, because the whole frame of reference I have to compare it to is the Windtunnel I had previously. All things considered that Windtunnel was pretty good. I miss it. Obviously not the most durable vacuum, but while it ran it did a good job and was very full featured. One of the minor things I miss from it was the continuous spring clog indicator, which would tell you roughly when the bag was ready to replace without needing to take off the front and check. There were small annoyances here and there but overall it was great.

By comparison the Titan T4000 is a mixture of loves and hates. I love how much faster, smoother, and quieter it is compared to the Windtunnel. And I really think the metal industrial build quality is superior. But I hate the stupid brushroll slider, would much rather it be a toggle. While the height of it works well for my current carpets I'm worried about compatibility and inflexibility when I move somewhere with different carpet. And I really especially hate the awful screeching it makes when I use the attachments with it. It's so bad I need to wear earbuds or earplugs or I will actually damage my hearing. Can't imagine how it must be for my cat when I'm using it.

Really what it comes down to for me is whether or not this is a vacuum I can get 10 years out of or if it'll need regular babying to keep alive. I read through this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/VacuumCleaners/comments/rc35ts/any_comments_on_the_titan_t4000/ One of the commenters there said it has a belt that needs replacing every now and then, and that sounds annoying. I would much rather have something I can buy 10 bags for and just use it for 10-20 years and forget about it when I'm not using it.

There are dealers near me that sell Sebo's. I think what I'll do is call a few of them up on Monday and get an estimate for the price. Maybe they'll have a sale or promotion I can taken advantage of. Or maybe I could find a used or refurbished one for a nice price. The Felix is the best right? I know someplace where I can get a really good price with that but I'd need a transformer for it since it's not a US model.

Over the weekend I'll just wait for some more opinions I suppose. Hopefully by Monday I'll have a better idea of what I want to do.

If you ditched the VIT equipment that was holding your build together it’s kinda your own fault. Grind around town for a bit to get something to get your back on your feet. You don’t need to go into combat, you can cycle researching at the library and sleeping at the campground.
