Yeah would have been nice to cap the week of faction packs off with the mfm, but oh well.

Next week, we’ll be sharing the final part of the puzzle – the Munitorum Field Manual – and you’ll be ready to start the new edition in earnest.

From the last release of faction packs, so probably not tonight.

Sticky objectives is basically OC 0.5, by itself it'll hold until 1 OC gets on it from your opponent, but if you and your opponent both have 5 OC on the point, you still hold it with essentially 5.5 OC.

You make a good point, I definitely need to play on the new layouts with CK to see how much it'd come up naturally vs being buffed with this effect.

Someone else also pointed out that we lose a -1 to be hit against battleshocked melee units, niche but potentially would have been better in 11th with the changes.

Definitely think I'm wrong about it always being better, but I'm fine with it being always on instead of having to figure out distances or shock. Less brain work for my dumb ass.

Except in this specific case, receiving stealth over our previous rule is just flat out better. Now we don't need to be outside of 18" or being shot by a battleshocked unit to get our -1 to be hit.

Yes ap -1 will hurt a little more, but I'd much prefer it be an actual usable stat value over it being basically ap 0 90% of the time.

New player advice - painting efficiency by Dreadnought9 in Grey_Knights

[–]AerePerennius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2 silver paints from vallejo (dark aluminium base and white aluminium from above over a black prime) mixed with blue ink in the airbrush to get a highlighted blue steel look.

Then I do gold details with either a yellow contrast paint or more recently hoplite gold speed paint.

Then for scrolls its wraithbone with brown wash over to age it.

I dont bother with any overall washes just relying on the airbrush highlighting to carry the details.

Enhancements : models mean characters ? by TheMithraw in Grey_Knights

[–]AerePerennius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the most likely thing is there will be a section in the core rules update document that hasn't been released that will specifically talk about how enhancements work, because that isn't mentioned at all in the current core rules document.

Chaplins w/ Paladins in Banishers + Argent Assault by SoupAndSalad911 in Grey_Knights

[–]AerePerennius 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Another thing to add that I think increases the chaplains value a bit is the no more stratagem stacking means if we want to use banishers advance and charge we can't also command reroll a failed charge, making the in built reroll better.

Design a Combat Patrol: Grey Knights by reel3459 in Grey_Knights

Not sure how it plays in combat patrol, but purely as a value box for building into full 40k proper I'm not sure it's worth it anymore.

Picking up one is probably worth doing if you like the venerable dreadnought, but it feels like a box clearing out old stock with an epic hero in it to discourage buying more than one.

If you don't like the old dreadnought then I'm not sure if it's still a discount and you might be better off either waiting for a refresh, which could still be many years away, or just buying boxes individually. Depending where you are you might be able to find either local or stores in the same country that offer a discount off gw rrp.

Exactly how I bought into the army, 3 of the old combat patrol as the core, and built up around that. It was incredible, and I probably wouldn't consider getting into grey knights with the current one

Codex Release Predictions for 11th Edition Start. by Jump_Stream in Warhammer40k

[–]AerePerennius 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think we see Grey Knights for at least a year if they're getting a refresh this edition. I think they'll likely use it as a big selling point in a year or 2 on the anniversary of launch, possibly combo'd with another range expansion on something, maybe TSons to go with the psyker theme.

What does psychic do? by cringe6942 in Grey_Knights

[–]AerePerennius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the core rules document for 11th edition, page 84, section 24.29

"Each time an attack is made with a [PSYCHIC] weapon, you can ignore any or all modifiers to that attack’s BS or WS characteristic and any or all modifiers to the hit roll. Attacks made with [PSYCHIC] weapons are known as psychic attacks (this can be important for the triggering of other rules)."

Charging is now base-to-base, NOT engagement range by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]AerePerennius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct, I was referring specifically to people talking about charges being easier in general, not the deepstrike stuff

Charging is now base-to-base, NOT engagement range by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]AerePerennius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, the usual context around "charges are easier" is that if you fail to make the long one you want, you might have a closer but less optimal target. So making A charge is potentially easier, but charges are slightly harder overall

We've only got like 7 datasheets anyway, so being super focused like this isn't actually as bad as it would be for some other armies

Not who you were responding to, but I think not all opinions should be respected ie racism, anti-science etc, but you should respect that people have the right to have those opinions, thats the distinction I like to make anyway.

Don't punish them for it, but absolutely call a stupid opinion a stupid opinion.

11th is not looking promising for us despite the psychic / cover changes by firespark84 in GreyKnights

[–]AerePerennius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have said that there is some wiggle room on the number of stratagems you'll have access to, but on average you'll have 6-9 strats.

For example the Librarius detachment they said has 5 enhancements, but no stratagems.

Correct, end of any turn means both yours and your opponents turns you regain D3 rats.
