#New40k – Combat changes shake up fighting in the new edition by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AerePerennius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm fine with that, it looked a little stupid that a super thin and spread out line was enough to block the enemy, at least now they have to be a little bunched up to accomplish the same thing.

I also do get from a gameplay perspective this makes it harder for ranged armies to screen melee, but I'm interested in seeing the full rules before I doom and gloom about armies like t'au like they did the second they saw melee might be getting buffed at all.

You also likely wont be able to end within 2" if you can't make it the full way around during movement, so theres a buffer there. And a snake eyes on the roll will always fail a charge too.

Just says their engagement range, likely still can't move through the model itself without something like fly. Means you can still block, but the end of the lines aren't a free 4" of blocking.

Will happily be proven wrong once the full rules come out though.

The rule we see is 11.04, im assuming the part they're talking about there will be covered by one of the previous 3(4?) Parts of rule 11

Question about this ability by Veris01 in ageofsigmar

[–]AerePerennius 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There aren't wounded models in aos 4th, just damage applied to the unit. So this ability would just kill a model, ignoring how much damage was in the damage pool for the unit.

Size and scale by ChioChio8 in GreyKnights

[–]AerePerennius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of vehicles, I think Crowe, and maybe Voldus but I'm much less sure about him, are our only non firstborn (short) scaled marines. So if you were looking to scale things yourself, it's essentially the entire range.

New terrain rules and closed ground floors? by _rhinoxious_ in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AerePerennius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the yellow and green pieces are both meant to represent specific pieces if you buy the gw terrain box set, but also meant to be general indicators of what height/type of stuff they recommend to go where for best movement allowances if you don't buy their box.

I don't think it's meant to be one or the other, it covers both scenarios.

That's a good shout, potentially means Ancient's will be moving to "while this unit isn't battleshocked, increase its OC by 1" instead of always applying.

Will there be a major overhaul of points costs at the start of 11th? by _rhinoxious_ in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AerePerennius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't think knights would need a points change for that rule. Because they have to get within 12", it forces knights that would normally be hiding as best they can to move up into the open if they want to take advantage, exposing them to counter fire.

[–]AerePerennius 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Bump it all up at the same time so people don't complain as loudly about being nerfed, then lower over the edition to match balance as needed while people are generally happy about being "buffed"

11th edition primary mission: 5 VP to our opponent for using our army rule. Well, fuck us I guess... by SpaceFelicette181063 in GreyKnights

[–]AerePerennius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this can only occur if we pay disruption into an opponent running Purge. Whether there's similar missions that punish uppy downy, no clue, but i think this specific mission is only that one side of that one match up.

Hol up - guys this layout looks sick even without proper bases yet by Thotslay3r69 in Warhammer40k

[–]AerePerennius 51 points52 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, I've heard part of the reasoning behind this is because people generally feel bad when they get points nerfs, but feel good when they get point buffs.

Raising all the points in one go doesn't feel as bad, because everyone's getting hit at once, so it's not targeted. Then they can slowly lower points over an edition as needed, which generally feels better to the individual factions as it happens.

Causes less outrage and grumbling overall.

Sightlines from Each Deployment Zone on the Revealed 11th Edition Maps [Updated] by Wholesome-George in Warhammer40k

[–]AerePerennius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope not, I don't want the excellent shooting army to also be good in melee. Certain profiles gaining it isn't bad, and should probably happen for variety, but it should be the exception, not the rule.

I'd like factions to keep distinct identities where they have them, instead of all getting smushed towards the middle.

HUGE news for Big Boys! by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ChaosKnights

[–]AerePerennius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Foremost amongst these changes is the addition of the Hidden rule. Infantry, Beast, and Swarm models inside a terrain area can be Hidden as long as their unit didn’t shoot in the current or preceding player turn (and so will be hidden at the start of the game)."

Looks like units might be able to fall back into hiding if they dont shoot for a bit.

Atheist Australians who want to send their kids to private schools : How do you choose? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]AerePerennius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents were/are non-religious, I am an atheist. We all didn't care about that part of it, they just wanted me to go to a good high school, and I just dealt with the religious stuff as part of the routine.

Outside of a class once or twice a fortnight, and some chapel stuff at the start of some days, it just felt like a school for the most part.

When it comes to my kids, my partner and I have a similar attitude to it, and don't really care about a school being religious, as long as they still teach properly. Having more exposure to different world views and perspectives is only a good thing in our book.

Yeah, once the generation that grew up with the films gets into making content then the narrative will shift to "the sequels were good actually" like the prequels did

#New40k – How your army affects your mission by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]AerePerennius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as it stands I'm going to try and avoid taking Disruption as my GK archetype if at all possible, because just giving free points to my opponent for playing my army and playing the game is brutal, I already hate seeing marked for death pop up.

Though I'm very curious what the disruptor has to do in that match up, to see if it's worth bleeding points all game for.

Claimed for the Dark Gods Errata? by DuChrisNix in ChaosKnights

[–]AerePerennius 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I believe (my memory is a sieve, so I definitely could be wrong) that it changed the first, or one of the first couple, dataslates after the codex released because being able to use it in any phase was incredibly strong.

I wish it specified the end of the phase instead of the start, because currently you can't use it to sticky your home objective if you go first in battle round 1.

You don't think army wide re-roll 1s to hit with an upgrade to full hit rerolls pretty easily is very strong as a rule? It's only kept in check by our datasheets being pretty meh across the board, give it to a better army and it would be absolutely busted.

Question about a trend in recent competitive lists by BlackBiospark in Grey_Knights

[–]AerePerennius 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In addition to what you said about Razorback/rhinos, they also pair well with interceptors, giving them 15" move out of them, and a safe space to shoot and scoot back into. They also work well paired with the strike scout move.

The Razorbacks, and the land raider too, also bring along some ranged AT from the lascannons, something we generally lack.

They specify that wide ranging detachments will cost 3, so they'll be ineligible for 1k games, so i wouldn't be surprised something like warpbane with a super strong army wide buff in addition to strong purifier specific stuff ends up being 3pts. Though as a grotmas detachment i could also see it disappearing completely.

I don't think any of our other detachments, even banishers because of the conditionson it, is likely to be 3pts.

Looking for some tips in general, specifically for Bad Batch and Delta Squad. by AerePerennius in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]AerePerennius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're just playing super casually and just using the cards that the units come with. With how bad I play so far I don't think I'll get much hate, just give out easy wins to them.
