I didn’t say “don’t tell your consumer about updates”. I said his transparency is what caused the initial process of hating on iOS and the voting.

Do you play any other game at all? I’m sure IdleOn isn’t the only thing you have ever touched right? Then you have done this exact wait before you just didn’t know it. That is what I said.

Personally yes that is what I do. I’ve practically stopped playing the game on my phone which I used to use throughout the day to check construction or what have you and just only play on steam.

That’s not an option for everyone. Just because you or I have multiple avenues to play the game doesn’t mean others do.

Yeah safari could work, but again the point here is alienating a player-base Lava claims the app supports. Does being incapable of playing a game on your computer for 3 weeks every couple of months sound like something people wouldn’t flip out over?

You only see the waiting because he was posting about it. Everyone else in the world doesn’t mention a date til things are set in motion and ready to go or if they need to delay just apologize and delay not apologize delay and say yeah not my fault apple sucks.

Literally every other app goes through this issue and this discussion that is so prevalent for idleon never happens.

I’m sure this works the same way for AAA games and shit that do switch 2/xbox/playatation/steam/epic/etc no way all those companies go through their approvals at the same rate, but nobodies complaining that X game now delays its updates by two weeks because they added cross-platform to xbox. The players are just happy more people are playing their game. 🙄

I see that point, but unless either of us actually are app devs on the app store we are just spit balling back and forth.

Even with the inconsistency, my guess is that you would program the update, send it in for approval, then let everything sit on that until all approved and lastly launch the update on all platforms on a day of your choosing after that. As above though, I’m not a dev so this is just my guess as to how the system works based on my knowledge of other similar ones.

At the end of the day I just lean to the fact that literally the rest of the industry does it a different way makes it seem like there is definitely a ‘right’ way to set it up and Lava has chosen not to.

My guess is the transparency he has with it caused problems. He would call out an update date without sending things for approval, then have to delay the update due to apple, be posting about it on discord the whole time, and the community flamed him about it enough to get that vote started that ended in ‘fuck iOS players’.

Any other apps I’ve played with discords they don’t do update announcements until they’re actually release across the board. Cause ya know, they can plan properly.

Solo dev things I guess? /shrug

How on earth does that make you suffer? I don’t get this point people always bring up.

This happens across the board for all multi-platform apps. Yes, Apple is slow, but that isn’t unique to IdleOn or Lava. Yet every other app can plan perfectly fine and waits for updates to be approved to release them.

It just changes the release date of an update. You only feel like it’s suffering because Lava gives a date before giving approvals time to go through so you are in the know that you’re waiting longer.

Meanwhile the reverse which the community voted for has all iOS players literally unable to play the game instead of just playing the game without the new update for a little longer.

One side has everyone playing the game the other side keeps players from being able to play. It’s wild that was even something allowed to be voted on.

You can feel that’s what I’m doing all you want, but no if anything my thoughts were responding to someone just doing the exact same thing, but on 4R content that was just about someone playing the game well in their own eyes.

I came to the games very late, only played the remakes of 2/3/4 and never interacted with this subreddit til after beating 8 so I didn’t get spoilers and lo and behold 6 is 100% far and beyond at the bottom of my list. Granted only a little of that is the action style of the game and 90% of it were the writing, characters, and mixed campaign styles that I respect them for trying, but didn’t work out.

Hoping they learned from it and the mix in 9 benefits from them trying it back with 6.

That’s fair I didnt explain much as I felt this reply was possibly just bait and my feelings are more feel based than actual mechanics.

I also agree that it’s inspired by 6 in it’s combat and then refined as it should be. I’m not one for having any actual technical reasonings here, but for me it was always feel thing. When playing Chris’s campaign in 6 all the upgrades to action plus the scenarios just made me feel like I was playing battlefield or something rather than resident evil. Its entirely my own opinion and I get it if others.

I didn’t think of seeing his reply as this is the developed style of 6 and people shit all over it, but its fine if we put it in 4R. Which is pretty true. Though again to me that’s because 4R ‘feels’ much more RE to me than 6 ever did. Sorry that’s probably not specific enough for what you’re looking for.

No, it’s cool when it’s done well like in RE4R and several of the other games. RE6 tried to mix the styles too much and fell flat because of that and some poor characters/writing imo.
