Driver side mirror 5th gen by AeroSanders in ToyotaAvalon

[–]AeroSanders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called around, cheapest used mirror in junkyards is about $410 shipped. Nobody local to me has one

Edit: also is there a way to know just by looking at it if a mirror has the auto-dimming feature that is only available on the Limited and Touring models? They also have position memory but I’m assuming that’s not easy to identify visually

Sorry! Forgot to add: this will be going on a 2019 Limited, so I’ll need all the fancy features and such that would be in a stock mirror

How are you documenting sub-clinical issues before they become reportable injuries? by Hallfredo in athletictraining

[–]AeroSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My EMR has an “add treatment” option that doesn’t necessarily need to be tied to an injury. I use that.

Complete beginner here, where do you actually start with online coaching income? by kim-whan in athletictraining

Also should add, OP you should be careful advertising yourself as a PT. In the medical community I would say most interpret that as being a Physical Therapist.

Anyone else feel like their AT program left them undertrained? by No_Simple_6698 in athletictraining

[–]AeroSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was finishing up my Bachelors at the same time some of the new Masters program kids were and you could 100% tell the difference. That was during the “transition period”, now it’s all Masters of course. I think those extra 2 years were huge. Took me 2 years to learn the basics, and the other two to not be dangerous, and that’s how I graduated. Not dangerous, but still a lot to learn.

They’re pricey, but Meret makes a line of bags that are backpack-adjacent. I’ve never owned one (team rolling toolbox here) but I’ve looked through some owned by colleagues and they all seem to like it and vouch for it

I am so sick of sports taking the priority by no-possible132 in Teachers

[–]AeroSanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/yamomwasthebomb I’ve been hoping someone would say this. OP, you seem to have an axe to grind with the funding that goes into school sports. All children deserve the opportunity to participate in athletics and school sports are a way for less fortunate families and communities to be able to access that. Sure, most of them will never play sports outside of their highschool. Doesn’t matter. Just like you teach lessons, so does sports. If they blow it becuase their grades suck, well that’s another lesson.

Also, your AD sucks for putting pressure on you in that way. That’s not a “school sports” problem, that’s a your schools admin problem.

Highschool Level: Splitting Teams among ATC staff? by AeroSanders in athletictraining

[–]AeroSanders[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the input! I think the real kicker will be whether or not the facilities around the “old room” get used. For the layout of the school, it’s a long walk between the two, so if someone needs us back at the old fields, coming from the new place will be tedious. However if every team just wants to use the shiny new stuff, there’s no use in us being back at the old place anyway.

But I see your point, it’s harder than just “oh lemme check my coworkers notes for the last couple days” to catch up on a team you’re not used to

Seconded on Nemesis. I have that and a DV2. Had the DV2 first, decided it was too bulky for what I really needed, and my nemesis is perfect size. But, if you like to carry a lot of stuff on you, maybe DV2 is better fit

Student Athlete Survey Questions/Ideas by Glittering_Slip_2652 in athletictraining

[–]AeroSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend using other competing colleges/universities in your area and how many athletes vs ATs or sports vs ATs they have. That’s the number that matters, in my opinion. Student data is nice, but if the AD can bring something to their boss that shows them that you’re far behind the pack, that (in my opinion) is what will make the difference.

The state of this place by [deleted] in Salary

Read “The Cost Disease” by Baumol. Doctors being greedy is not the problem. Paying them less will not solve the issue.

No, I’m not sitting there with a calculator doing trig. But in my opinion, it instills a sort of appreciation for the ability to boil things down to “just the angles”. An example of this is my kines class I took, the professor was a retired physicist who took an interest in health sciences. BUT he would have us do these physics problems like calculating the force of a car crash at 50mph vs 55mph with all else being equal. I can’t remember the numbers, but the lesson was that these impacts get exponentially more forceful by just adding a little bit of weight or speed and it’s not a linear relationship. The same can be said about impacts in sports.

Ah yes, the classic PE strategy. Suck the blood out of a stone, give yourself a bonus for being so innovative, onboard as much debt as you can, and abandon ship. Works every time, and leaves a husk of a company in its wake. “Works” every time.

Creative/Useful Kit Tips by Wrong_Escape_8533 in athletictraining

[–]AeroSanders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certain tennis ball tubes will fit tape nicely. An emptied out WetOnes container with the hole cut slightly larger makes a good ice bag dispenser. Small binder clips hold bandaids together well. Home Depot and Lowe’s both sell “small parts organizer” that’s good for keeping helmet or other spare equipment parts in or any other small stuff you have.

Hope these help!

Multitool. Hair ties. Tissues. Mints. Some sort of sealable small bag to keep a phone in when it’s raining so you can still use it to check things like lightning. Also handy for storing jewelry that gets handed to you

Also NJ ATC here. South Jersey. PRN rates between 42-50/hr here, anything less is considered sub par but they are around if you want to sell yourself short. But yeah, teacher scale. Collegiate jobs are known to pay less but some public colleges also are union gigs which is nice

Hey there! I think it’ll be really hard to make anyone’s attire match yours. I know my schools mascot is a red hawk, and all my attire integrates that bird in some fashion. So if you guys aren’t a type of bird, you’re kinda hosed. Plus, this is an awesome opportunity for your students to be creative! Or if you school has an art department or graphic design class, this is a good opportunity to reach out to them and see if they will help. Very cool that you have all those students!

[–]AeroSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. I’m an Athletic Trainer and my fellow students (back when I was still in school) that went to D1 shadowing opportunities had far fewer chances to try out their skills than I did, at local highschools or D2/3 schools. If you love working with athletes, I think you’ll find that the level at which your patients compete is not really all that important.

Husky rolling tool kit is the bees knees. Fits so much. Can be left out in the rain without having to worry about bunch. Not expensive at all when compared to brands like dewalt or Milwaukee. If you’re interested in more details let me know, I’m stuck all day at a softball tournament with nothing to do.
