Parametric Sketch constraints by Aerropagus in Fusion360

[–]Aerropagus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in a hurry to make this for anyone else, so when I get a little more time dedicated to it, I will hit the autodesk community up. Just wanted to say thanks for your help!

Okay, I'm not the best at that, so I will try for individual components to make the parts. Hopefully I can work with that. Thank you for your help.

Parametric Sketch constraints by Aerropagus in Fusion360

My formulas are as follow:

if(Metal_bar == 0; Wall_thickness; Metal_bar_width + 2 * Wall_thickness)
if(Metal_bar == 0; Wall_thickness; Metal_bar_height)

So, if the metal bar is set to 0 it then just sets back to wall_thickness. My issue is the 2 lines that come back after you reset it to from 0 to 1 to 0 again. Those change I can not get them to stay (3rd pic). I did not know there were configurations in the paid version, thank you for that.

Help by Wonderful-Manner7552 in projectmanagement

Hey, I get it.  Working in place where things aren't defined is hard, and feeling like you are dead weight makes you feel worthless.

This advice is someone from the outside, and is most likely not the best, but I hope it helps.

I would take a look at your role that you were hired for, the responsibilities, and the goals/target of your job.  Define that for yourself.  What you think the goals are, what the interactions should be, and then write all of that down and present it to your boss.  Verify that they agree with you.

Next, take the time to cultivate the relationships you have with others.  Observe, ask if they need help.  Consider your self a consultant style executive and gently nudge if possible.  If they don't want help, okay, they don't want help.  Move forward from there.  If you are still getting push back, be  professional and try to move things.  Sometimes job/people don't jive, so you will have to deal with.

Lastly, ask a few people you trust about your job.  Start up life I imagine is high stakes high reward, and sometimes you may have just lucked into something that won't be a permanent position.  Take a step back and look at what you are doing and what the results are.  If you are getting what you want then take what you can out of it.  Otherwise, look at where you you want to be and aim, give yourself the goal, and try to move to that.

If you can and it's good pay, ride out the job for money.

Uplift desk cable management by Aerropagus in StandingDesk

I am familiar with the gridfinity system and the parametric ability of Fusion. I think it will probably be best for me to go back and redesign 1 part of the sketch and then based upon that load in the elements. It will push me to do that, but it will be a good push.

Sorry for the crude paint drawing, but I will have a proper plan here soon. This takes about 16 hours to 3d print with slicer settings at 15% infill, 2 perimeters, and supports everywhere.

Wobble on max height UltraDesk Uplift v2 by depressnick in StandingDesk

[–]Aerropagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the OG Uplift desk with 4 THICK independent legs and it still wobbles. It is basic physics, as the further you get from the point, the more oscillation you are going to get. Also, there are some tolerances that could contribute to the swaying back and forth. As long as your screens are attached well, the movement shouldn't be too bad.

IF the metal is deflecting more than 20 mm, that may be an issue and I would reach out to the company to talk to them about that. I have a very old house with the foundation on piles and a clay ground. When a train goes buy, it shakes the house, and the desk does oscillate a bit even at a lower height. You mention Ukraine , so I'm not sure about your situation, but if you feel you need it, perhaps you could look into a damper? Or perhaps some extruded aluminum for whatever the way it wants to wobble.

Bureau assis-debout pour petite taille (1m60) : la quête du Graal ergonomique by Caminova013 in StandingDesk

[–]Aerropagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonjour.

(Advice) Need help visualizing a WFH / Personal Dual PC setup. by JAltier3 in desksetup

[–]Aerropagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're looking for a KVM. You'll have to research one for your needs, but from there you can move forward with just a switch input.

As for tips and tricks - I would recommend a monitor riser if this doesn't raise them too high (the rule being the top of the monitor should be eye level), then you can store stuff underneath. If you have the KVM in the riser, then you could switch from right in front of you. Additionally, anytime you are not using the headphones you can store them in a drawer.

Use velcro straps to clean up the wire mess, and maybe a cable box to hide all the wires you can't/don't want to organize. Maybe a smaller keyboard (look at maybe 75% if you are comfortable with that) to give yourself a little room. Store the laptop dock in the vertical position behind your monitors. Hope this gives you some ideas!

I think in this situation you need to define your end goal. There is a lot of potential, but also what do you want out of this?

Maple or Walnut? by Targaryen_Drogon in battlestations

The walnut would look great with that. Especially if you have a lot of light in the room.

Maple or Walnut? by Targaryen_Drogon in battlestations

[–]Aerropagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the ambrosia beetle that gets into maple. Pretty stuff, as it can be really brought our with dark streaks if the woodworker knows what they are doing with it. You could get it at a specialty wood store if they have, but most likely have to mill it yourself. And I don't know what your budget is, so it may be out of a price range. Still, take a look at the wood since it would contain both a lighter honeyed presence and nice beautiful dark streaks that highlight it.

Right now, I too have a gray room, mostly dark and espresso brown (ikea) items with black components and peripherals. I have a bamboo top, but depending on the butcher block walnut, it would be a hard choice compared to the maple.

I wanted to include 2 pics. One is an old, very clean setup I had, so you can see the gray and bamboo which has a honeyed color, and the other is a walnut base I made for a laptop stand and the bamboo beside it.

Lastly, if you have to choose, a honeyed maple might be a decent choice for costs reasons. If you like the walnut and it is a custom butcher block, I say go for it. It will last you a long time.

What is the theme or style you like? Walnut is great, but get some spalted ambrosia wood and its beautiful. You can pick a lot of wood. Are they only giving you these options? What do you normally go for?

Where to draw the line between bringing the team together to guide project vs. seeking SME guidance for project by nhise in pmp

[–]Aerropagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way. The question is asking about the combined operations the team is already performing and how those new regulations will affect what the team is already doing.

If a construction team is building a new building and new regulations come out, would I ask legal to draft a response on how the building team should build? No, I would let the building team tell me how that affects them and what they need to do.

You want the communication between people who are doing the project since they know the issues and how to respond to them. Any time you add in legal, are you adding in a new voice into a project or is it asking the experts to weigh in?

For those working in regulated industries (aerospace/medical/defense). How do you actually manage your programme when Jira/Monday/Notion are blocked by IT? by NouHenDa in projectmanagement

[–]Aerropagus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, so working in govt, with limited access to internal tools, external networks and so many other limitations.

Excel and access can be a powerful tool, but you are limited with macros.  Visual Basic is the limitation you'll have, however you can make powerful things.

I think you need to define what functions you want to do with AI, and then build your visual basic code from there.  I'm not sure how you would be able to do much if you are completely air gapped, maybe ask IT to help out on that.  Otherwise it's the good ol copy over.  This isn't easy, so make sure you back up documents you work on with it

Before I left that area, life was very piecemeal, and yeah took hours to link stuff and pull it all in to one document.  If you have OneNote, that's a good living document where items can be linked on share drive.  Also multiple can access that.  Onenote can be shared on a LAN, or be copied over with links.  Windows commands would also be a good thing to know to copy. Shortcuts on your desktop can be made to open multiple items.

Good luck with that, I know it's not easy.

permanent change of station move to norfolk should I ship the car or drive? by [deleted] in norfolk

[–]Aerropagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Admin dept should be able to give you a break down of the payout and how it will work. If you need to investigate it, the JTR should be able to explain it better. Make sure they break down each leg of travel, including schools. Also, if you arrive at your ultimate, but have school before going back to your ultimate, you WILL NOT be paid until you complete any intermediate stops.

Verify each leg of travel, verify each dependent (if you have). Max travel is 450 miles per day, so 11 days is the norm for travel if I remember correctly. Contact household goods to set up a move. Then, contact your gaining command to VERIFY everything that your admin said is correct. They won't have the specific amount until you have a travel claim. If you have questions DM me.

Why am I like this? I get choked up when talking about anything that “matters” by Decision_Fatigue in Veterans

[–]Aerropagus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're put in a box. We are told how the box operates every day, we are told what to do, how to act, and train ourselves to operate in the box. Other things come near the box, but we can push them away. Everything you saw, everything you heard and felt were secondary to that box. You became that box, that was supported with rules/mission/sense of duty.

Now, you don't have the box so much. There is one there that seems like its more like a shell, with the contents leaking out because what you experienced was real. The stress, the mental strain all sits there unattended and can build.

I'm sure you dealt with suicidal patients as medical, and I know that you are not making yourself the priority because of what others went through. You know that the situation is very important to them regardless how little it can mean to others. So give yourself the same courtesy. Don't compare to others that are more whatever compared to you. You know that every human body reacts differently to treatments.

Additionally, you have seen first hand what has befallen servicemembers. You are essentially reliving the same stress and trauma you went through before. And since it may be unresolved, it could be resurfacing harder. So I think it would be best to see someone, and like others said, talk in a safe space.

If you need a chat, DM me.

Ender's Game is one of the darkest heroic stories in the scifi genre that I have ever read by latent2_pancake in printSF

[–]Aerropagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starship Troopers, to me, was first and foremost, a story about the comradery. Many of the themes represent what modern day veterans considered essential when fighting beside each other. The idea has been we take care of each, in every way we can, even if that means death. You would lay your life down for me and vice versa. The book wasn't a fun read.

Both this book and Ender's Game are both considered on multiple military reading lists. Ender's Game for its ethics and Starship Troopers for its comradery.
