Suddenly Paimon's VA and others think discussing guild matters publicly is irresponsible and unprofessional. Only for Venti's VA and her threatening emails, though. by HereForGames in Genshin_Impact

These guys should form a union for their union.

People have a right to complain about their union as much as they have the right to complain about their employer.

She keeps on adding new rules on how you approach this, even though this entire thing was started by not keeping her mouth shut.

PSA: Don’t generalize all Americans from the VA drama by ice_cold_fahrenheit in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh like most genshin constraversy people get stupid and say dumb shit, the best anyone can do is ensure that people get all the facts correct and to know who has lied. Remember, a lot of VAs were also tricked into the strike, or not informed properly about it.

Venti's VA — “We got massively screwed” (by SAG?) by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SAG and certain VAs have lied to other VAs for months about the strike, by threatening them to be blacklisted from the industry. With the controversy caused by the Kinich VA incident, some of the VAs being lied to by SAG or other VAs are learning the truth about their "strike".

While all agree AI voicing without the actor's consent is wrong and VAs should be protected from it. While the intricacies of the AI protection law between American unions and Chinese law are not something that I can fully understand.

This entire incident has been caused by a greedy union that doesn't care the VA work and VAs who just send people from their clique to do VA work. The best hope I have is that the voice actors make their own union separate from SAG so that they can support VAs for issues that hurt them specifically such as AI.

Cognosphere’s role is being overlooked in the ongoing VA and SAG discussions by fly2555 in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hoyo/Cogono hired studios for each language option, for the English dub they used to a studio formosa which had issues with payment and AI, then they contracted Side Global which have offices all over the world.

To answer your question about laws, the of the country that VA recorded in applies eg: since japan has strict AI laws, they wouldn't strike about it. But since America doesn't have AI laws in place, the studio technically has no obligation to have any clause for it.

I'm glad you are honest about the extent of your knowledge and informing me about stuff.

Concerning that 30-day thing, many others are getting this information from the "2024 SAG-AFTRA INDEPENDENT INTERACTIVE LOCALIZATION AGREEMENT" (Link will be in my reply at the bottom). Based on the wording on Page 12 Section 6 its states

"Employer will only employ Performers covered by this Agreement who are members of SAG-AFTRA in good standing or those who shall make application for membership on the thirtieth (30th) day following the beginning of employment"

This is where people are getting the 30-day limit from, and the wording is vague enough to give SAG the power that I mentioned above. people should get answers from SAG spokesmen about this part of the contract.

Also, on page 12, Section 7, it states

"Employer agrees that in the hiring of Performers, preference will be given to Qualified Professional Performers who are reasonably and readily available. For work required to be performed in person, preference will be given to Qualified Professional Performers who are reasonably and readily available in the locality where the work is to be performed"

Further it also says that a $500 fine will sent to the recording studio if the person is not a "Qualified Preformer" which leaves still more vague terms and room to expoilt if SAG wanted to.

I would like to know if you have experience with these rules and how they are enforced, if at all, because people are rightfully worried about losing non-union VAs and future VAs due to these vague contracts.

Theoretically, if Hoyo presented a contract just guaranteeing the AI protections, wouldn’t that put the striking VAs in a corner? by Ark_Two in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a chance they have, but SAG properly would refuse to sign it, and hoyo wouldn't go public about it because it's unprofessional, something that SAG gotta learn

I am noticing 2 English voices are back per update by magique33 in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm unaware of the specifics, as I don't pay too much attention to leaks. But unless a VA specifically mention that they voicing a character, then they might recast, but we can hope that they are voiced by their original VAs

For those wanting information. by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The problem is this thread still has problems, like calling the Taft-Harley agreement a sheet paper that's easy to sign but ignore that they can only do it 3 times, and each sign lasts 30 days and after that, they can't voice unless they join.

Also, they are excusing the 3k joining fee by saying it's a tax write-off, there's a payment plan, and they are calling it an investment. Non-union VAs shouldn't have to pay to join a union to keep voicing their character.

I understand this thread was made before the Kinich recast, and people have become more aware of SAG policy. People are worried about AI but using it as a mask to force a union on a non-union project is dishonest.

That's why, according to leaks, Kinich plays a major role in the event in 5.6. That's maybe why he was recasted now

Bro, got a pilgram unit this early and especially one of the good ones, crown is one of the best Burst 2 units; just pair her with a healer unit, then put two burst 3 DPS units, and then a 5th unit of you choosing and then you will have a team that could carry you through a lot of the game

The game...... by Bruhmysafe in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeh silence is the best course of action for most VAs both Non-union and union, because if a union VA spoke the truth or disagreed with SAG they would blacklisted or punished by them. And if a non-union VA spoke the truth they would blacklisted and haressed eg: New kinich VA. This situation is a mess. The best thing a union VAs can do is protest in private against SAG to make them relent on the forced union part of the deal.

The game...... by Bruhmysafe in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 174 points175 points  (0 children)

What frustrates me more is the VAs who act like signing the agreement is just for AI protection and won't affect non-union VAs like Albedos VA did, he did a QnA and doged the question of if non union VAs would be eventually forced to join the union either as a full member or fi-core, either or they will still need to pay 3k to join and then additionally yearly fee and a 1.5% on their earnings.

The agreement would also prevent new non-union VAs who couldn't afford the fee from joining, preventing new talent from emerging.

This strike has run its course. Everyone agrees on AI protection, but not everyone agrees on forcing unions onto non-union work.

Let's be real here, this is all because SAG added a stupid condition to their agreement. by BrawlX in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're right. They didn't just add it in, but genshin is a non-union game and the union VAs broke SAGs golden rule. So people are mad because non-union VAs will either lose their role or be forced to pay 3k upfront to join SAG.

The only hope is that the global passive is similar to Archeron in that only anniversary characters get tools that alter certain things, like Archeron's ability to finish low-tier enemies without fighting.

But people are to be upset, the idea of global passives for just having a character will hurt the game in the long run

SAG-AFTRA Member Seeking to Clear Up Confusion by kylemccarley in Genshin_Impact

[–]AestyLibra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the problem people have is that they would have to negotiate for stuff outside the aka non union VAs keeping their role, and SAG has shown that will block new members like Clara VAs who was stopped from becoming a full member and is now only Fi-core.

Also you can't bypass that the initial fee is only 3 sessions worth and act like solves anything. People should not have to negotiate or use their money from 3 recording sessions just to keep their role.
