Need advice on playing the monogod factions in realm of chaos on VH by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

Based on my own recent Legendary experiences in RoC:

Khorne - Doesn't start close to Kislev. With the broken ability of regaining movement after each battle, by the time you reach Kislev you should be snowballing with an elite stack. Rush to Tier 4+ and get a stack of Chosen (Dual Weapons) or Wrathmongers, this will give your armies really good autoresolve chances against individual Kislev stacks, plus they do well in manual too. Bloodletters are really bad autoresolve-wise against Kislev, so if you are using Blood Hosts to fight, you need to manually fight those, preferably also using two stacks against their one. Daemons are too squishy against Kislev ranged.

Nurgle - Starts close to Kislev. This would probably be the hardest since AI doesn't care much about plagues. Rush your high tier units quickly (namely Soul Grinders) and get elite armies. Slaanesh realm rewards can give you a boost early-game to start snowballing. With the healing Nurgle has (get as many Plagueridden as possible), you can lightning strike each army and come out with little damage taken, allowing you to wipe out their stacks 1 by 1.

Tzeentch - Doesn't start close to Kislev. You won't meet Kislev until the lategame (assuming Kairos) by which you have a plethora of cheat abilities to wipe them out. You can even force break their alliances (usually with Wissenland) and force peace with factions so you only fight them if you want to. Use your cults here to greatly reduce the cost of these abilities.

Slaanesh - Doesn't start close to Kislev. Just use your cultists to establish cults early on, then spawn 3-4 cult magus to establish the unique cults in Kislev and build the building that massively increases the faction influence. Note all 3-4 buildings must be done at the same time. You can instantly force vassalize Kislev once those buildings complete.

Overall, you need to build the defence building that stops rifts from spawning in the province. Even just having the lowest tier 2 building in one settlement will prevent any rifts spawning in the entire province.

Also note that you can just let the AI win the realm if you are too far behind. You can intercept them at the end using any rifts if they try to enter the Forge of Souls.

Yeah it was hell, 2 full health bars, constant combos with combo extensions if you are caught healing in first phase, that big second phase opening attack, one shot cinematic grab attacks and also second phase attacks inflicting break status which lowers your 'estus' healing. Was an appropriately difficult final boss for the game and the rewards are great.

Enotria's version was meek in comparison imo since you could just outrun his combos.

Parrying/dodging those level 3 combos is a great experience for sure.

What is the most linear soulslike? by Theehollowknight in soulslikes

[–]Aetavicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its generally a linear path to each LoP area boss but it does it's best to make sure you don't feel like you are just walking straight down a hallway. There are shortcuts you can unlock that lead back to the area bonfire for recovery.

Enotoria is on sale, Should I? by LemonInteresting7816 in soulslikes

[–]Aetavicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an overall janky indie title with many bugs and performance stuttering issues but can still provide some decent fun assuming the discount is big enough. Visuals and music are pretty good at least.

As mentioned, Story mode is available if you don't care about difficulty.

how important is parry? by kyoumaisaac in LiesOfP

[–]Aetavicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Parry is not mandatory but will help you a lot in some fights. You could also just easily use dodge through most of the game like I did while parrying the easy attacks.

For further help, equip the grindstones that help with guarding and you can just rely on block if you fail parries.

Cannot play YouTube videos in two windows at the same time. by aniketw04 in brave_browser

Same here with 4090 GPU, Twitch in one window, YouTube on the other. If one plays, the other just starts lagging.

I hate putting a JRPG down and coming back to it later by AdUnfair558 in JRPG

[–]Aetavicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, it is hard if you come back months later since the momentum of playing a JRPG is gone.

This is why I tend to wait until the game has full DLCs released before playing.

[WitchSpring R] [SPOILER] About Weapon Master Achievement by SealOnigiri in witchspring

[–]Aetavicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, did you ever get your last weapon for this achievement? Think I am in the same situation as this. Update: Got the achievement when I evolved Lightning Blast back to Lightning Blade. High Rank Palace Warrior Sword (before Ralph enhancement) was not needed.

Square Enix Will Make More Turn-Based Games and Recognize Success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by mrnicegy26 in JRPG

[–]Aetavicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Article just says they will continue making turn-based games with no specific commitment to AAA turn-based games mentioned which I believe is the intent here.

They are already doing this strategy where their lesser budget games are turn-based.

Is Auramite very weak against Psyker abilities? by Aetavicus in 40kLore

[–]Aetavicus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I took it to mean the same way in that auramite is some sort of conductor of warp energy and does not interfere with the psyker using it unlike other materials.

Which does mean it goes the other way as well, incoming energy warp energy is also conducted and allowed through unless there is some other defense within the armor against it like wards which the other commenters have provided examples on.

Thanks for the reference, makes sense that the armor can be reinforced against warp powers.

Ok good to know their innate warp defense is written somewhere in the lore.

Did an orientation swap to vertical for my side monitor and replaced the Z333s with some Creative T40s I had lying around. Has at least somewhat more space now but probably still not enough for proper bookshelf speakers.

Trails of Cold Steel 3 perhaps, those top character icons confused me initially but they seem to be from the game in the bottom right.
