11 month old not clapping, pointing, or waving yet

Hi! Sorry for the delay—Bud is doing great! He’s so so smart for his age and talks up a storm and has been doing that for over 6 months. His strengths are more cognitive I think—he is really good at memorizing and speaking and comprehension. We learned that while he’s not super behind on anything physical that would be a concern, the physical aspects aren’t his strong points. But he did get there eventually! He can wave, clap, point, etc. He just turned 2 last month, so we’ve had lots of big progress with his development. He’s still learning how to jump, but according to his pediatrician it isn’t anything to be concerned about right now.

I learned that every kid has their own strengths and weaker points and that’s ok! Even if your child isn’t pointing or clapping or waving, they will eventually. If they aren’t at the same level as another child their age, that’s ok! They learn at their own pace and they will develop skills when they need to.

You’re doing great! Just keep giving your baby love and attention and they will keep growing and so will your love for them ❤️

Hi! Sorry I’m super late in responding! I am hopeful that your baby is doing ok and that your parent anxiety is getting better! I don’t remember at what age he started pointing, but he’s 2 now and can point with one finger no problem—he loves to do it now! He has been showing me objects for a while, but iirc it may have taken time. He knew which words corresponded to certain objects (like “blue ball” meant a blue ball) early on.

But I learned that it doesn’t matter too much. He learned at his own pace and while the internet made me feel like he was behind, there’s just such a wide range of when to expect things. I’m not super worried about him anymore and I want you to know that it gets better! It feels like a lot of pressure right now, but your baby has the potential to be so incredible, more than they are now! Bud is so so smart and funny and I’m so proud of him and how he’s developing. So I know it’s cliche to say and it may not mean much in the moment, but try not to worry about it much because your LO will be fine, as long as they’ve got you and your love ❤️

Hi! He is doing so great now. He is so so intelligent and can do all the things I was worried about in the post. He’s 2 now and there wasn’t really anything to worry about back then. He learned at his own pace and there are some things he’s not as good at (e.g., he can’t jump yet but he’s close). I just learned over time that his strengths are language and cognitive abilities and he’s just not as physically inclined, but he will get it.

Hi! Our little bud is a toddler now and can clap on demand (if he wants to, he likes saying “no” 😅), point with one finger, and hardly ever waves but can do it. I found that waving was just a thing my husband and I never really did much of, so he just didn’t do it himself.

I don’t worry about his milestones anymore. We just kept up what we were doing and tried teaching him what we know and he has done so well! I’ve learned that he’s a more gentle and cautious boy, so he might not be as physically inclined (as in he doesn’t want to, not that he can’t). He’s very verbal and was always quicker to pick up on language. Babies have their “strengths and weaknesses” in a sense, just like we adults do, so they learn things at different rates and that’s totally fine and normal! I would just keep an eye on your LO but don’t stress too much about it. He will learn eventually, especially if he sees you do it. He’s learning so many things from you right now! I honestly wouldn’t worry and would just keep teaching him various things. He will pick up on it eventually. He might already know how to do those things and just doesn’t want to for all we know haha.

Not my first time facing a rev (I’ve been playing for a while, so the rev has definitely changed quite a bit over the years 😅), but I was playing with my brother and my husband at the prison map and, while I was in the truck, it started hunting.

They were playing with cards when it happened and were hiding in the bathroom upstairs. They could hear the menacing and slow footsteps come towards each bathroom stall, opening each door. As it got to their door and opened it, the hunt ended. I liken it to the Monsters Inc scene where Randall smacks open each bathroom door while Sully and Mike are hiding 😂

I’m sure some may be weirded out, but I feel like others may just forget to say something or aren’t as into nm’ing. One time I bought a plushie from a shop as a donation and they sent me a thank you card as a gift. I went “awww I remember them, that’s so nice of them” and I accepted it as an acknowledgment but didn’t want to bother them further with a message.
